Does anyone else like Ninja High School?
>>152046760He used western media parodies even in the first handful of stories (robocop , terminator , Star Wars etc)I don't mind the parody stuff but it got in the way of working on the basic story line of Jeremy and the two girls chasing after him.
>>152050053I remember there was a story arc about "The Y Men" which were an X-Men parody. There is a character named Sammi who is a delivery girl who has to pretend to be a boy around town. The Terminator was parodied as "Kenterminator." And Jeremy's rich guy rival was a guy named Rivalson Lendo. Ichi-Koo is the Japanese girl who is after Jeremy and Asrial is the blonde skunk alien girl. Ichi-Koo is actually Jeremy's non-blood related cousin. The problem with the Jeremy stories is that there were SO MANY issues that didn't even have Jeremy, or Jeremy just kind of stands there shrugging his shoulders as stuff went on around him. Ben Dunn focused on parody and side-characters so much to the point where Jeremy didn't do much at all.
>>152051093Sammy reveals she's a girls to Charley
>>152051093I think this is why Ben was never able to really sell NHS as a tv show/cartoon. There just isn't that much Jeremy material to make an entire season out of. They managed to make a Warrior Nun show before NHSI think there is a "power ranger" homage characters in like the first 10 issues and Jeremy just basically stands around doing nothing.having a ninja girl / skunk alien girl chasing after a regular dork in high school could have been milked for a few years (in comics) before just doing homage/parodies of anime/western pop cultureI got a few of those "text book" collections and the stories are fine (though the print quality is really hit or miss) but Ben just does random stuff he likes instead of focusing on the 3 main characters.
>>152039584>pick up random new issue>Inspector gadget homage character>sexy hillbilly squirrel >Winnie the Pooh as Doctor Who homage >The main normal guy is named Roger Wilco (neither of the Feeble bros)
These bitches ruin any episode they're in.
>>152051016Supposedly there was talk of a kanker spin off in which they somehow got rich.
>>152051068I wonder how that would've worked. Would they stick with the same cast of characters as EEnE, or go the Daria direction and introduce a new cast?
>>152049316>*enhanceFixed it for you
>>152051504I don't like Lee being that short. Also>Lee wanted to fucking MURDER Eddy's brother to the point of Marie holding her back

Marvel editorial censored Erik Larsen's Spider-Man Noir #4, altering both script and artwork scenes.Original script featured mature content, which was toned down before publication for a wider audience.Artistic changes removed suggestive imagery, impacting the story's darker, pulp-inspired tone.Spider-Man Noir's gritty origins contrast with Marvel's push for a safer, mainstream appealErik Larsen has shared pages from the original script to Spider-Man Noir #4, the series that the Image Comics founder is currently writing for Marvel Comics.
>>152050531>>152050514But this is the opposite of “noir” or “gritty”. It’s fantastical and comical. >>152050531Also kill yourself rich
>>152050514>Okay... Well, THAT was certainly something. It's impressive how a single line can make me feel tired.
>>152050514Larsen was never a good writer and having zero editorial oversight for 2 decades on savage dragon only made him even worse. Why anyone would hire him for a writing gig at any point in his career is beyond me.
Lowe specifically wanted him to write this btw
>>152050514Interesting
The entire 50 year run of Tom Batiuk's Funky Winkerbean was recently storytimed by a very committed Anon. itt we grab a slice of Montoni's pizza to discuss sex symbol Harry Dinkle, cancer, Drunky Drinkerbean, band camp, time travelling jannies, think about Afghanistan and stand in line to strangle Les.Final Storytime Thread >>151975514
>>152050689I thought about the idea of what happens if Les had Funky's Act 1 Dating Cindy story some more. If the New Year's Eve story never happened, then I could sort of see the same thing happening with Les but it ends with his reputation still worse than ever. Which I guess is okay but it's just more of the same and kind of predictable. The New Year's Eve story worked because of people's expectations of Les and Cindy. Les is shown to be unpopular and powerless while Cindy is popular and holds immense power (look at how thorough she tried to fuck up Funky's life after they broke up in Act 1) You'd think Les and Cindy's meet would've gone wrong. You'd think that she would've just ignored him or dismissed him after. But instead they had a good time and while Cindy didn't mention Les by name to otehrs she had positive things to say about that New Year's Eve.Doing a Les-dates-Cindy story in Act 1, after the New Year's Eve story, would have to go differently than the Funky-dates-Cindy story from Act 1 for it to really work. In fact it might be better if the Funky-dates-Cindy story still happens, to get long-time readers to want to know if this other relationship ends in disaster.
>>152050689It’s interesting that you see Funky as being overly thoughtful to me, because I saw his character (especially in act II on) as the more cynical one out of the cast. He’s almost sort of a foil to Les. Where Les is more of a romantic, going on adventures though Europe for a woman and dedicating his life to memorializing her, Funky gets burned by his first marriage and settles into a quiet second marriage where he’s happy to just sit on the couch and watch TV with Holly. Like everything in the strip though I think that could’ve been explored more
>>152050198Clair Voyant was also a high school counselor, right? It's kind of funny to imagine a high school counselor/fortune teller also running a hustle in the horoscopes
>>152051920It was the opposite. It started out as those horoscope jokes, then they were dropped and then in he last year or so of Act I she suddenly became an actual character as the high school guidance counselor for a couple of strips with Cindy. She's also a different character from Madame Marie, he county fair fortune teller who told Les and Lisa that they'd have a kid.
>>152052119>It was the opposite. It started out as those horoscope jokes, then they were dropped and then in he last year or so of Act I she suddenly became an actual character as the high school guidance counselor for a couple of strips with Cindy. Makes me wonder how that job change wentDid she get caught and let off with a warning with the only thing that happens is getting replaced as horoscope writer?
Imagine being a writer for a show with some of the richest fantasy worldbuilding on television, creating a sequel built around a playful, multiverse-hopping premise full of alternate versions of that world, and then deciding the best direction is to center the story on the single universe EXPLICITLY designed to be mundane and boring. Brave Muto, you fucking hipster moron.

>>152050662>we'll have to get Crackdown Anon to depict the act in a drawpile some time so we can get a clear visualYeah, I've been kind of unintentionally avoiding that since I'm shit at both poses and action.
>>152050662>>152050695>"woah mama, they trapped me in an orb">"Gracie-boo, look!"
>>152050829Lean into toon physics for the visuals. There's lot of references at least.
>>152050829I can give it a shot next drawpile, if that'd be okay with you. The quality will be low though, since I'll have to take photos again.
>>152051514I imagine the difficulty there is the natural conflict between the serious, gritty tone Crackdown strives for and the inherent irreverence of toon physics. It can be done, I'm sure, but it'd probably be tricky.
Wtf was nickelodeon thinking?
Not saying the show is great or anything but Adventure Time and Regular Show come out in 2010Focus on two primary bro charactersWacky humorsome toilet humor [mostly in Adventure Time]was popular as all hell. You can guess why Nickelodeon wanted their own "Bro" show. Don't ask me if it was good I never watched this shit
