I believe him when he says it was meant for public release. It's far too tame and far too expensive to just be a file in his spank bank. People rightfully think it doesn't make sense to pay that much for porn that tame, but the alternative that actually makes sense, that it was never meant to be porn and was at some point meant to be monetized, isn't as entertaining, so they stuck with the porn story because it not making sense only makes it funnier. At the end of the day, though, it boils down to an expensive, cringy video. The timing also helped, being released around the Hazbin premiere.

From the early 2010s onwards the industry went full retard on wokeness, and as polarizing as that is, there are people who'll fight to the death to defend every single moment of it.The 90s Extreme era being the industry in the hands of a bunch of guys mostly in their 20s and just trying to make cool, exciting, sexy fun action comics for an audience of kids and teens annoys the hell out of the people who want their cape comics to be deep and meaningful and attempt to be Art with a capital A, or to deal with "issues".A lot of the problem is that the people bitching about 90s comics at the time were just older readers who should've just grown out of superhero comics and moved on, shrieking about what those damn kids liked, and largely those are the people who stuck around and wrote the narrative of what happened and what you're allowed to like.
