Christmas feels the same way once you actually get to it. Everybody puts their damn lights out and trees up in fucking August. But once December 25 comes and goes, suddenly people forget about the holiday and the cheer and shine of the season dissipates and everybody just moves on to the next thing. It's part of why I get so bummed at the holidays, since it just comes and goes and people move too fucking fast these days to slow down and enjoy the celebration and the merrymaking.

I feel the same about Halloween. It just comes and goes and nobody seems to care other than maybe they might watch some scary movies. Nobody around me is decorating, and I'm not even in the mood to decorate either. I live in the south and the leaves don't even start falling until closer to Christmas, so we don't get any of that kino northeast leaves changing colors and falling and the crisp air down here. It's been 90 degrees several times down here in the last week for fuck's sake.

Bellatrix Green 7/???
>you push the door open slowly, ever so slowly.
>the old hinges whine quietly to themselves in protest until you've cracked the door open just wide enough to peer into the attic and see what lies within.
>you had anticipated a scene out of a nightmare:
>the ghastly, distorted form of the wicked old man shambling toward you, a tangled mass of translucent shrieking flesh dangling from the high ceiling– something unspeakably, incomprehensibly gruesome–
>instead you're met with the sight of… a bedroom.
>while it hardly compares to the manner of things you'd been picturing, a bedroom furnished with every manner of ghoulish ephemera and dimly lit by the unnaturally green glow of candlelight was still a strange scene to behold.
>under better circumstances, it was the sort of room you might've liked to have for yourself– albeit in a better state than this one presently was
>about the floor were scattered newspapers and a handful of bottles, recently discarded unlike the dusty, cobwebbed boxes and long-forgotten furniture that lined the edges of the room
>against the far wall– beneath a great porthole window and between shelves cluttered with books, bottles, and unrecognizable relics– sat a large, curiously comfortable-looking bed, its black-and-white striped covers messily undone.
>it was plain to see the room was still occupied, and likely had been for some time– but you had been lead to believe the attic had gone largely disused even when your grandfather was alive.
>you might have briefly suspected his ghost of being that occupant– were it not for the timbre of the voice muttering from somewhere just out of sight that was distinctly not that of an old man.
>though you could not hear it with great clarity– and it was partly disguised by the low, gravelly tone it had taken on while rambling to itself– it unmistakably belonged to a woman.

The Boogie and Abracadver eps of Powerpuff Girls are good. But I wish they had made an official Halloween episode like they did with the Christmas one.

TONIGHT ON THE SPOOKY STREAM
Despite yesterday's mayhem, the Ghost with the Most returns one more time, terrorizing the living world when he mistakenly creates a killer salad. Yes, a killer salad. Next, the Darkstalkers are forced to work with their greatest adversaries when the alien warlod Pyron faces his greatest adversary...his brother.

Tonight's movie is one of the hallmarks of animated horror, taking place thousands of years into the future, in a horrific post-apocalyptic world ruled by the undead. Bitten by a vampire lord, a young woman's only hope of keeping her humanity is to join forces with a dhampir who hunts the bloodsucking menaces that suppress this world. It's the original anime classic, VAMPIRE HUNTER D! Plus, after the movie, a bonus episode of Adult Swim's BALLMASTRZ paying tribute to this action-horror adventure.

To conclude our stream, bibliophile pupper Wishbone is inspired by the romantic woes of the humans in his life to recount Robert Louis Stevenson's chilling story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Finally, Mordecai, Rigby and other denizens of the park compete to tell the scariest Halloween stories they can, with a boatload of candy as the winner's prize.

We’re talking individual frames that look decent. Episode 1 studio actually made a post-credit epilogue that was anime original, but it was 10 seconds and utterly pointless from a story perspective. Just keep your memories of episode 1 and the soundtrack. Only watch the rest of you want a laugh. The bad animation is one thing, but what they did to the source material by rearranging all the chapters and removing all the tension while speedrunning the plot nobody reading the manga cared about, that’s what really did it for me.

You really said it. Though I'm always ashamed to admit it to my fellow spooks, Christmas is actually my favorite time of year, and the crushing totality of its abrupt end--which I start feeling on the 25th itself, no less--always puts me out of comission for a while. I'm generally depressed for most of the winter until springtime, and try to squeeze as much joy out of the end of the year and the start of the new as I can before I can't pretend anymore. I say I celebrate all 12 days of Christmas but even that feels like a cope because everyone else around me seems to move on at midnight after the first day. The blues are so real.

September-December is such a magical time but it goes by so fast I legitimately feel anxious about that now. Time's fleeting nature is deeply distressing. It only gets worse the older you get, and it also gets faster. One day I'll wake up and I'll be 80 and in my deathbed, thinking about how writing this post felt like a few years ago.

Time for my threadly repost of my grimwood girl ideas also since today/technically tomorrow is my b-day, this one is a bit more special to me
Winnie's is probably the most radically changed since she's the closest to the 'main' character in these versions, and the audience inserts for the more magical stuff we see. For most of this story, she's predominantly human, only transforming into a werewolf during full moons or when she's enraged. Her human form is basically what you'd expect it to be (curly orange hair, decently athletic build and the Plaid clothes and jeans we usually see her in, though I'm debating giving her glasses/making her hard of sight) as is her werewolf form (though in the early days due to how violent transformations are, her clothes end up shredded and she's left mostly/utterly naked as a result), both are just taller since she'd be around 16. Rather than being the Wolfman's daughter, Winnie is Larry Talbot's great-granddaughter (modern-day setting) and her mother was once the alpha of the largest wolf pack in the country until being overthrown by a rival later revealed to be Winnie's bio dad and fled to a rural town in the countryside to protect both her and her daughter, taking precautions to avoid her from learning about what she is. Until she turns 16 and some shenanigans happen, resulting in her transforming twice, the latter in front of her friends, resulting in her being sent to Grimwood's school to learn to control herself (Grimwood in this is a whole other story, probably needing a whole other reply). Personality-wise, she's a bit of a nerdy tomboy with a bit of a fascination for the paranormal (due to her mysterious upbringing).
(1/5)
>>
>>146031773
Phanty is physically and personality-wise unchanged, but the former is due to her gradually shifting into that appearance due to forgetting who she was, being a sixteen-year-old girl in the late Edwardian period who died along with her whole family (save for a younger sister) on a shipwreck (I'm currently leaning toward it being the Lusitania, since Titanic is a bit overplayed and it's in her story that after lingering, she'd haunt and prank the men on the U-boat that sank it, before being quarantined to Grimwoods)
Tanis is also quite unchanged, though taller, due to being a preteen rather than a toddler. She has more royal regalia on her due to being a princess of a pharaoh who was overthrown and killed with his family. A witch cursed them to rise again if an amulet of theirs was stolen (which it was in the modern day). She'd still largely be an innocent girl but with the slightest heir of superiority due to being royal.
Sibella is still the daughter of Dracula but not raised by him. Once Van Helsing and Mina destroyed Dracula’s brides, they found a purple petrified baby in the castle, which she and Jonathan would hold onto after Helsing passes. The Harkers (after becoming vampires themselves) would accidentally awaken the child and, wanting to raise her in the light, do just that. Sibella was raised for 17 years as their daughter until situations made them give her to Grimwood for protection. For personality, she’d also be very kind-hearted and good for a pun (though which usually results in groans), but a bit more directly flirtatious to a few of the male characters I made for this. Also forgot to mention this earlier, but she has slightly shorter hair (stopping just above her hips only so her butt can be visible in a few nude scenes I have planned for her
(2/5)
>>
>>146031773
>>146031795
Elsa’s physically mostly unchanged (save for maybe losing the neck bolts since that’s a thing from the movies and this take on her and Sib are more in line with the books) and is still the daughter of the creature, who made her after learning the same trick Victor did and (after realizing he can’t make a potential wife love him) deciding to craft a daughter to serve his need for companionship. But when she gets older and more curious of the world, he reluctantly hands her to Grimwood to allow her that exploration in a more safe environment

Now for Grimwood and Revolta
Agatha Grimwood and Beatrice Revolta were witches (in this world witch is gender neutral and refers to both males and females, stuff like wizard and warlock are titles) both born in the early 1700's in Europe. The former was slightly younger and born from a modest family with modest magical abilities and modest looks, while the latter, slightly older, came from a prominent family of witches and was both naturally gifted with magic and one of the most beautiful women in her era (with her bronze skin and green hair being longtime traits in her family).
They'd meet in a private, all girls boarding school for witches, and would quickly become friends due to their shared status as social outcasts and their penchant for getting into trouble (this is where Beatrice got her 'Witch of the Web' nickname since she could spin lies so effectively that all would believe her), and their bond and magical abilities grew in tandem. In their teen years, Agathe's feeling towards Beatrice would grow somewhat romantic, though whether or not she reciprocated or would play into those feelings to get her to do what she wants (or somewhere in between) is something I plan on leaving ambiguous.
When they left school ,they quickly became rising names in the supernatural community. Agatha would spend most of her time helping out the marginalized and down trodden supernatural beings, while Beatrice became increasingly powerful (both in magic and status). Her ambitions were to climb to the top, to ear the title of Warlock Supreme (the highest position a witch can get in the in-universe supernatural government), but when the old one stepped down, she was passed over in favor of one of the old guy's inner circle.
(4/5)
>>
>>146031773
>>146031795
>>146031809
>>146031826
The two, seeing this as an outrage, decided that the system itself needs to change for the better, since Beatrice was far more qualified for the position, and they were both willing to do anything to change the system that brought such injustice, by force if necessary (with Beatrice starting to use both Agatha's crush and desire to help the down trodden to manipulate her).
Sometime after, Beatrice began experimenting with dark magic, which started to create a wedge between the two, which exploded when an experiment went wrong and killed one of Agatha's family members, resulting in the pair splitting apart permanently.
In the aftermath, Beatrice, her body now corrupted by dark magic (her eyes glow red, her silky hair now matted, and her bronze skin starting to scale up) began recruiting followers among other witches and supernatural beings (including one Alistair Armitage, who will be important down the line) and raised an army with dark magic, determined to seize power by force. They'd attack the city of Eldoria (the sole city populated exclusively by the supernatural and the capitol for their society) in March of 1743, killed the Warlock Supreme and countless others, until Agatha intervened and, following a confrontation, would begin the two's famous duel on March 16th with lasted for hours and ended in Beatrice's defeat and imprisonment (her form corrupted into the one we're familiar with), swearing revenge on Agatha. In the centuries that follow, Agatha would do whatever she can to make amends for her past, blaming herself for her friends fall. Following the American Revolution, she'd hold up there permanently, establishing herself a boarding house to serve as a sanctuary for all young and disadvantaged supernatural beings to learn and live in peace, while Revolta languishes in an alternate dimension prison, plotting her escape, getting revenge on Grimwood, regaining her beauty, and taking over the world

>>
>>146025012
Nobody really cares about holidays in dixieland. It's really depressing.
>>
>>146031915
There's a whole lot of monsters and supernatural beings running around. Witches (as I mentioned before it's the term for the species so both men and women are witches), trolls, goblins, Fae of all kinds, and a bunch of other cryptids. The only problem is that, collectively, their numbers only reach about a hundred thousand, if that many, and they need to keep mostly hidden because of how much the normal humans outnumber them. The most common supernatural creature are the witches, mostly since they're basically human (just with a direct connection to magic) and have basically human birthrates. There's just not a whole lot of them, and intergroup wars, witch hunts and other such purges by human, and mostly low birthrates keep their numbers low
As for the second question, there's a few of each
For vampires, we obviously have the Harkers, as well as the current Count Dracula (probably the son of the Dracula from the book/Sibella's brother) who's re-emergence is why the Harker's sent Sibella to live with Grimwood. There's also a few other small groups of vampires running around, largely in Europe and disconnected, at least until the new count emerges
For werewolves, we have Winnie's mother (who I'm stuck between the names Kathleen and Evelyn), her bio dad and the old pack, plus a few more packs scattered around the country.
Aside from Elsa, the Creature is the only other one of her kind, and considering how old he'd be by then, he'd likely pass away soon after it starts.
There'd be a few ghosts running around, haunting places. Probably none of them would be related to Phanty, since they'd all have moved on to heaven after the Lusitania
Aside from Tanis and her family, I'm not sure how many revived mummies would be around. Considering we see them in movies, I'll say for now it happened once in the past, but it's distant enough to where it won't affect things
>>
>>146032182
So... how do you manage to give all those characters enough screen time that they can impact the plot?
>>
>>146032076
I don't think they can. The heat really saps it out of you. It legitimately doesn't feel like Halloween if it isn't chilly. If it's still springlike in December your Christmas is probably fucked, too, unless you're from the Southern Hemisphere. I am really curious about what the seasonal vibes are down there because I really can't imagine it working at all.

Anyway, I moved up north for a reason. It still isn't as cold as you might think it would be, or as early on.

assuming your referring to those beyond the main group, a lot of it comes down to worldbuilding. Most of it will just be focused on the the main five, Grimwood, and a few other prominent characters, with the rest serving as dressing to the world, antagonists, or used to further the character progressions of one or more of the cast

I live too far south to get snow and it usually doesn't get cold until January, so after Christmas obviously. The holiday all about it being chilly outside and making snowmen, and it's 90 degrees out the entire month. Fucking sucks. It rains here a lot, and if it's chilly enough in the early morning, I might get some sleet out of it. But like I said, that's not until January that it gets cold enough for sleet.
>>
>>146032572
That was the absolute worst. At least the snow didn't disappear for me until I was out of school.

The VVV from Villainous, I know the Boo-lldozing episode was streamed really upset that I missed it, but the show is spooky all around and this episode in particular has Day of the Dead vibes. I recommend the dub, this show lives and dies by the mexican script
The series also has A LOT of shorts, but it might be a pain in the ass to organize with all the subs, dubs, whatever

The weird thing is we got a blizzard down here the year I was born. That was almost 30 years ago and my mom still has pictures of a little snowman she made with my cousin who's a bit older than me on my grandpa's car. But it's just never gotten that cold down here since. The closest it's gotten was one January where it got cold enough for the topsoil to ice over through the night, but it all melted by the next morning. I think that was like 14 years ago.

cy(remove this)tu(dot)be(slash)r(slash)X-Halloween

It's Monster Movie Monday, as selected by you! And what goes with monsters? Horror hosts. So tonight we have horror hosts showcasing monster movies. Loading music starts right about now with the movie happening after a few songs. All commercials should be removed as far as I know.

> Itinerary

> Loading music

> Monstervision: Fun House (extended Fan edit)

Joe Bob Briggs is newer but well-regarded among horror hosts for his fun intelligent hillbilly persona. If you like Joe Bob, check out The Last Drive-In, another show he hosts. Fun House is a nearly plotless mess of a mutant monster chasing stupid kids who stay after hours in a carnival. This fan edit restores what was cut from the TV version.

> Intermission music

> Svengoolie: Mothra Vs Godzilla
Svengoolie has been hosting things since the 70's.Ok, technically, this is the second Svengoolie as the first one passed the mantle to him formally years ago. He is known for his corny jokes, silly songs, and generally affable demeanor. And if you need me to explain Mothra Vs Godzilla, I don't know what to tell you.
>>
Is Nosferatu a good movie? I'm skeptical of old "it was influential" movies, just because they were generally very rough, slow, and too artsy, but I genuinely don't know whether it's a good movie or if it's just something praised by film buffs that'll go over my head.

Welcome to Swain's world.
There are few drawfags I've seen that are this talented and have great taste, but require me to take a smoke break after reading their stuff.
>>
>>146047147
I'm bored easily by slower movies and have similar skepticisms, but I thought it was a solid film and well worth a watch. just try to find it at the proper frame rate though– it was shot at (I think) 18fps but a lot of releases run it at 24fps which makes everything sped up.
I also recommend watching Shadow of the Vampire as a companion piece.

Bellatrix Green 8/???
>“hmmm… nah. the plague’a locusts thing ain't bad– sa’little played out, though. I can do better’n that…”
>you were a little taken aback. she did not speak as would some vile witch chanting quiet curses or a madwoman raving incoherently.
>instead she spoke in the same manner a comedian might deliberate over which jokes to include in his routine– even chuckling and giggling to herself–
>only rather than jokes she spoke of plague, beheading, and other morbid fare.
>usually you found talk of such things more compelling than repellent. long starved for companionship as you were, you might have even deluded yourself into thinking you'd happened upon a kindred spirit who shared in your grim fascinations–
>were it not for her evident intent to act them out.
>as for her ability to do so…
>you could only assume that the shrill insect chatter you had heard as you first reached the attic door was the “plague of locusts thing” to which she referred
>suggesting that who or whatever she was, her supernatural abilities extended to more than merely igniting candles with verdant flame.
>a suspicion swiftly confirmed, as she exclaimed
>”c'mon– gotta hit 'em with the big guns!”
>with that cry came another sound– a gunshot
>or rather, the caricature of a gunshot, like something out of a spaghetti western
>followed by a series of similarly cartoonish ricochets as the invisible bullet bounced off the walls– kicking up dust, shattering bottles, and perforating moldering boxes
>before leaving its final splintered mark in the floorboards not far from where you stood cowering behind the door.

Kind of like we spent more time talking about it and posting the same stuff every year rather than creating OC stuff (art, comics, homemade decor, etc.), know what I'm saying? Maybe I'm just retarded and projecting...

I haven't had much time to hang around 4chan and a bit with Spooky threads to know more about, but I guess that is like the last year where some felt same and it was, again in a suposse, by the remnants of sanitary emergency and stuffs that were around it in the world.

And in the same way, life situations that occupy or distract us, if we do not pay attention to how they affect us for the better or vice versa.

Let's say that the rhythm was shaken and it will have to be "re-balanced" again, but it will tend to be in a way that, if it's not the same in the past, at least it is a beginning to establish it or find it again.

The truth is, everyone is going through hard times right now. The only kind of media to help us distract ourselves that doesn't suck is all nostalgia based which lends to a kind of gloominess that isn't healthy, looking towards the past instead of the future. We can try to be happy here but it still follow us around like a phantom. I have been stuck like this for ten years trying desperately to get out but each time I am about to make the leaf something out of my control happens which further disappoints my family which causes them to get cross with me until they explode.

People will just say its "growing up" and its supposed to be like this but the only people who insist this is the truth are bitter themselves and are unable to empathize with the rest of us who have even less then others through no fault of out own.
>>
>>146055504
unironically I think it's because this site is dying. fewer and fewer people are sticking around as baffling decisions continue sinking it into the ground
>>
>>146056085
>nostalgia based which lends to a kind of gloominess that isn't healthy,

True, but it is also how you approach it, because I have used that to remember the good, both about myself and those times, and bring it what is necessary to my present so that it can be a fuel or support point, because staying in that for a long time does hurt.

Sorry for those moments, seriously. What I can say is that the world is dynamic and not always the state we want to be in or the state around us will be permanently (in the positive...and the same in the negative).

In how we are flowing is how we move in the path, also in quiet and noisy moments.

If your family is going to be a bunch of judgmental jerks who don't support you, they aren't being family. Walk away from them. You need to define what you really want. Ignore what they want. They are not living your life and should not have any say in it. Live your life for you. And learn forgive yourself. Life's hard enough without having one more critic (yourself) in it.

This will make the future brighter a little at a time. As you define yourself and live your life for you, you will find things to look forward to. It gets better.

I don't think it's just the thread. For whatever reason this month hasn't felt Halloween-y at all. I can think of specific reasons why, personally, but it seems quite a few people think so, both in the thread and IRL. I know there's been a general decline in the holiday's celebration but even last year felt a lot more festive. Not sure what's the exact problem.
>>
>>146056705
>>146055504
Yeah, I know what you mean. Halloween doesn't hit like it used to. I legit cried the other night when I realized that the month was two thirds over. Halloween used to be considered on par with Christmas as one of the two big holidays, but now it seems like its falling more and more to the level of Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, and Easter. Not a small holiday by any means, but definately not as big as it used to be.
>>
>>146056861
Weird. Halloween is getting bigger out here. I saw Halloween on sale at the end of August. There's at least 5 Halloween events per week in my town for the last month. Maybe it's not Halloween dying so much as you not interacting with what's out there? And if nothing really is there, why don't you start things?

>>
>>146057480
East Coast, Virginia. And this is only a medium-sized city. It's not a big metro area. The big metro areas have even more things going on, especially on weekends. Themed dinners, live shows, festivals, open to the public parties, haunted houses, costume contests, and more just keep on popping up. Some are marked as "harvest" as an attempt at being inclusive, but the Jack O' Lanterns are a giveaway.

It's a culmination of various things that I like. The red, gold, and orange leaves, the chill of the autumn wind, the smell of burning pumpkins, people utilizing their creativity when they make costumes or home-made decor, the sharing of spooky tales both real and fictitious, seeing an influx or monster girl porn with an emphasis on the monster, participating in family gatherings, hanging out with old and meeting new friends, visiting the graves of family and ancestors, and the consistent reminder that, sooner or later, we're all gonna die. These are only some of my favorite things about Halloween.

Backyard haunted houses aren't as bad as you think. You don't need a lot of scare actors or even insurance as long as you have an "enter at your own risk" warning for legal reasons. Check your state to see what counts. I know several families in town are running back yard haunted houses. They make things out of stuff they find through the year and put up tarps to make "walls". There's someone at the end handing out big candy to those who make it through.

If you don't have the space, a light show doesn't need more than a front porch, some LEDs and a raspberry pi to set up light patterns. People can drive up or walk by to enjoy the show.

Bellatrix Green 9/???
>”awright”
>with that she grunted, as though mustering her strength, and loudly cracked her knuckles– then what you had to assume was her neck–
>–after which came several other increasingly worrying, viscerally unpleasant and protracted cracks whose exact origin you shuddered to guess.
>until finally, seeming assured of herself, she shouted:
>“clear out losers, this place’s mine now! here, I'll even give ya a hand movin’ out!”
>there was a brilliant flash, as though a bolt of neon green lightning had struck the woman where she stood
>the gentle flicker of candlelight roared into billowing pillars of emerald flame
>all around there arose a great commotion– bottles rattled and books trembled on their shelves, the wooden floor creaked and groaned underfoot.
>fervent bumping and rapping sounded from within each of the long-untouched boxes that ringed the room, and intensified into pounding
>the walls of each box bowed and bulged, struck with great force by the innumerable things that would be contained no longer.
>through tears and upturned flaps they burst from their cardboard chrysalises–
>hands.
>slender, deathly pale hands that wriggled and slithered their way from the boxes to pull themselves– vessel and all– along the floor
>they sent books tumbling down as they snaked out from the shelves on winding, tendrilous, black-clad limbs
>they crawled out from under the bed, along the floor, and up walls on black-nailed fingers
>all the while, the woman joked and chuckled and giggled to herself– erupting into a fit of gleefully wicked laughter as the deviltry reached its zenith:
>with cracking and splintering wood, a legion of groping hands burst from the floorboards– spilling swirls of unearthly fog and yet more of the eerie green light into the room from below
>–rising on twisting arms that wound around one another to take on the vague shape of a great and gnarled tree, its limbs pawing at the ceiling.

Hello everyone! The winner of last night's poll was slashers, so tonight we have two very contrasting slasher films. All music tonight features Skinny Puppy (by request) and other industrial music. Loading music starts around 12:45 AM EST and the films will follow after the songs.

cy(remove this)tu(dot)be(slash)r(slash)X-Halloween

> Tonight's itinerary

> Loading music, 13 mins.

> Torso, 1973
One of the earliest slashers, made around the point where Giallo started morphing into new genres. Lots of 70's sleaze and nudity in this one.

A killer is on the loose and seems to be mostly targeting young women. A female college student decides it's wise to leave town and takes her friends with her to a villa in the countryside. One problem: the killer decides to follow her there.

> Intermission music, 11 mins

> Hatchet, 2006
33 years later the slasher genre has stabilized to the point that films can be genre-aware without being parodies. Part one of what is actually one long film split into several normal-length films. Watch in order for the full story.

A father and son ignore local taboos to go gator hunting in the forbidden swamp. The surviving daughter is certain they were killed. She gets a gun, then follows a Haunted Swamp Tour out to where her dad vanished. Sadly, nobody else out with her that day believes her story about murderers in the swamp.

Bellatrix Green 10/???
>unthinking, you recoil in an instinctive attempt to shake free of the thing– nearly sending yourself tumbling backward down the stairs
>you only barely manage to catch yourself on the railing– limbs splayed out awkwardly to steady yourself as best you can against whatever lay within reach.
>your right arm clings to the handrail, the left braces against the opposite wall.
>both feet remain at top of the stairs– one having caught itself against a step and the other still at the door, held fast in the chill, unflinching grip of the crawling hand.
>doubled over with your backside dangling precariously toward the foot of the stairs you find you are unable to regain anything resembling balance or stability
>you realize your fate lies in the innumerable spider-like hands of the giggling ghoul who stands– still unseen– just beyond the door.
>you pray your ability to see her is sufficiently novel for her to spare you such an ignominious end as a fatal fall down the stairs.
>whatever might become of you after the fact was another matter–
>a matter you spared no further thought as a skittering swarm of pale fingers curled around the lock stile of the door to drum upon it in mock contemplation with black, pointed nails.
>at once the drumming ceased, and one of the spindly white drummers rose from among the undulating, centipedal trim of slender digits which teemed about the edge of the door.
>it slunk forth on its tentacular limb inexorably towards you– towards your face– at an agonizing crawl.
>it winds ever nearer through the air, fingers wriggling and curling like an arachnid in death throes
>the thing groped and clawed in so sinister a fashion it was almost comical
>any comedy, however, was largely lost on you as the hand further slowed its advance to linger mere inches from your face
>like some parody of a cobra poised to strike, it reared back–
>and lunged at you

Happy Thursday! Tonight's stream is Asian paranormal films that are bad yet fun. We have one from Japan and one from Hong Kong. Bring alcohol and snarks for best effect. Not snacks, snarks. Loading music will start around 12:45 AM EST with the films coming up afterward.

cy(remove this)tu(dot)be(slash)r(slash)X-Halloween

> Our Itinerary

> Loading music

> House, 1977 (in Japanese)
This was supposed to be subtitled but there's a chance that the subtitles may not show up. Not that understanding the dialog really helps anything. This is a film written by a ten year old girl. Everything in it is intentionally poorly made and confusing. Anyway, a a girl and her friends go to their aunt's house. Auntie's house has a bad habit of eating little girls.

> Intermission music

> Chinese Erotic Ghost Story, 1990 (Chinese, English subtitles)
It's not really sexy. It's not really scary. And there's only one ghost who shows up at the start and is never seen again. What we do get is a man with a magic talking penis, a statue that comes to life when it's possessed by the judge of the dead, and quite a few bare breasts with some of the silliest sex scenes I have ever witnessed.

>Man is the worst monster of them all

>>146084555
I don't think a lot of the OG Universal monster movies have aged that well but the Invisible Man is still great on the basis that it works just as well as a black comedy as it does as a period horror film

There were too many villains. Between the ghost boyfriend, the ex wife, a the douche husband, and beetle juice himself…it tried to do too much. I felt like they were trying to appeal to the adhd tiktok generation by the way they weren’t able to focus on any single plot line.
And yeah, the tender reunion with the dad was unearned. We didn’t know who the fuck this guy was and the only reason we know Astrid or Lydia had any fondness for him is because they say so. It literally told instead of showed.

I think they could have cut out the douche manager and focused EITHER on the ghost boyfriend or the ex wife in conjunction with beetle juice. Spend more time actually developing intrigue in those plots and meanwhile, establish some sort of character connection with the dad so when they see him again it actually means something,
>>
>>146084144
Chinese Erotic Ghost Story starts in 4 minutes or less!

>>146084446
I literally have no idea how Jaws factors into House. I guess we had someone floating on a tatami mat in a pool of blood that just ate their friend, but no shark attacks and all the violence is cartoony and psychedelic.

>>146084511
Yes. Is there one with no sharks and a fluffy white cat? Asking for a friend.
>>
>>146084846
That's what happens when you make a movie by just stitching together various scripts into one. You get a bloated unfulfilling mess.
>>
>>146084888
It had the 3 scripts at once problem AND the legacy sequel "well we had to cram in [thing] where it doesn't really fit because it was "iconic" in the original.
>>
>>146084935
Every too late sequel is like that. Gotta milk those "nostalgic" moments. It's like a checklist.

>you flinch as the pale fingers grab at your face
>they clasp with surprising delicacy around your nose, giving it a quick squeeze– honking it in a teasing manner.
>with that, the hand releases your nose, descending to the level of your collar– of which it takes firm hold.
>the hand at your ankle– which had first alerted the woman to your presence– begins crawling its way up your body, its snaking black limb trailing behind and winding its way round your leg.
>reaching the end of its meandering ascent, it wreathes its length about your waist a few times and pulls itself taut with a sharp tug.
>though not entirely unpleasant, it is an odd series of sensations, to say the least
>you can't help but note, however, that among these sensations were various… lingering palpations that couldn't have been necessary to the hand's climb…
>more worrying is how little you find yourself bothered by the hand's indecency
>perhaps being alone and touch-starved for so long is to blame
>...another matter you can concern yourself with once you're back on solid ground.
>for now you direct your focus to the matter of getting there.
>the hand at your collar releases its hold on your garment to crawl past your neck and sash its arm around your upper half
>feeling as secure as one can in such a strange, coiling embrace, you cautiously loosen your grasp on the railing
>finding that the arm does not struggle to support you, nor does it seem to be listing downward with the added weight, you let go of the railing, push your other hand from the wall, and kick your free foot from the stair to dangle as the black, hand-headed serpent keeps you suspended in the air with apparent ease.
>you remain there unmoving for a moment, the white-striped constrictors tightening around you ever-so slightly.

I try and get all 5 ghoul girls nominated each year. Usually only Phanty and Sibella get enough votes to qualify, and neither of them last very long
>>
>>146089720
Calling the tournaments Ms. and Mr. /co/ at this point is misleading and disingenuous. They're actually run entirely for and by an offsite subculture that holds tournaments throughout the year on their own plus4chan board, /tnt/. The characters who are nominated have years of in-jokes, lore, and drama built in that shape the course of their trajectory in a way invisible to the average /co/ participant. Characters who aren't really part of their little zeitgeist are always ignored and die early.
>>
>>146089489
>>146089571
I'm starting to notice myself that I can't handle candy nearly as well as I used to. Chocolates are fine when they aren't TOO sweet, but these days I get nauseous from eating 4-5 pieces of candy when just 5 years ago I could easily finish a bag by myself. I guess I'm getting old.

>It started hours ago at twilight, a savage beast had told you that you were to be its meal that night.
>The beast in sport had given you a head start, it would not begin its chase until the sun was down.
>You had not wasted a moment and ran straight into the woods behind your home.
>In your heart you had known this day would come.
>You had a bag stashed away with supplies to last you the night under the old oak tree.
>In your head you had gone over what your options could be in this scenario.
>Running would only get you so far, it was faster.
>Hiding was no good, it would find you.
>No, you had only one option. The hunted must become the hunter.
>You had seen Predator a dozen times. You would LIVE.
>Your face and clothes were smeared with mud to mask your scent and you moved silently.
>You found a perfect clearing and set to work.
>You didn't have much time.
>You did not need to stop it for good, just needed to try and stop it until daylight.
>You found a bendy tree and prepared a snare trap with some rope in your bug out bag.
>This would of course never work it was too obvious, it would however distract the beast for your real trap to work
>You had found a very shallow ravine and had worked hard and fast to make it deeper.
>You covered the hole in branches and leaves to create a pitfall team rocket would be proud of.
>The coup de gras was a large boulder teetering on a nearby pile of rocks. With the right push it would fall right onto the hole and trap any creature unlucky enough to find itself at the bottom.
>You had a string set up that would set it free with a yank.
>You had no doubt the beast would get out but by then you’d be on the other side of the woods and chasing the rising sun.
>All you needed now was bait.
>Before you had taken your mud bath you had stuffed your hoodie into your pack. It would draw in the beast.
>Delicately you placed it over the pitfall.

>Suddenly you heard a stick snap.
>Your senses were on high alert.
>Your eyes were fixed on the other side of the clearing where the sound had come from.
>You held your breath and tensed all your muscles still.
>In the shadows you saw two pale yellow eyes with red irises gaze into the clearing.
>Clouds had rolled in and the forest was as dark as pitch but those eyes you could see like lamps in the night.
>The eyes glided across the clearing towards your jacket.
>They stayed low to the ground and shifted from side to side.
>Almost there.
>They stopped at the edge of your pit.
>You could hear the sniffing from your bush.
>It felt as if your lungs would burst if you held your breath much longer.
>The eyes moved forward again, they were directly over the hoodie now.
>you could hear the rustling of fabric followed by a deep inhale as it stood directly on the trap.
>C’mon, c’mon.
>It lingered there huffing your hoodie.
>The eyes suddenly shot up.
>They turned and stared directly at your bush.
>It had your scent.
>What happened next was a blur.
>The beast pressed down to launch itself into a leap but in doing so broke the branches beneath it.
>At the same time you had jumped up to sprint away from the clearing, the string still tightly clenched in your fist.
>As the beast fell into the pit the boulder clattered down the slope.
>You heard angry yowling and swearing as it fell into the hole and the boulder rolled directly onto its spot.
>It had worked!
>You allowed yourself the moment to celebrate your triumph. From under the rock you could hear the beast’s muffled swears and promises of revenge.
>You knew they were not empty promises and so you turned to begin your mad dash to safety.
>You stepped directly into your fake out snare trap.
>Nice work A-hole.
>>
>>146090166
>Blood rushed to your head as an upside down world spun around you.
>Fuck.
>Your pack, wallet and knife fell off of you and ont the ground.
>Fuck.
>The boulder heaved and rolled off the hole. The beast had broken out.
>Fuck.
>Glaring yellow eyes emerged from the ground.
>You were still spinning but on each rotation you got a glance at those eyes and each time they were closer and closer and closer!
>The beast was right in front of you.
>A claw clenched onto your torso stopping you in place.
>Fierce yellow eyes pierced into your soul.
>In the dark the shine of white teeth of an opening maw became visible.
>In a flash they went right for your neck.

>You let out a gasp.
>And then a giggle as the beast softly nibbled and licked at your neck.
>”Ok, ok! Let me down from here!” You pleaded to no luck.
>You were being hickied to death by easily the shortest and cutest werewolf around, Winnie.
“You fucking asshole!” She laughed “You dropped a rock on me! You can swing all night for all I care.”
>She ceased her jugular assault and turned to leave faux pouting.
>”C’mon, babe! You said to make it good.” You pleaded. “You would have been bored just catching me if all I did was run.”
>Winnie stood in the clearing by the pit.
>She reached down into it to retrieve the hoodie.
>She held it into her face and resumed breathing into it.
”Damn it. Its just not as good as the source.”
>Winnie threw the jacket over her shoulder and returned to you.
>She unsheathed a claw and with a hop and slash she cut you down from the tree.
>Your head thudded into the ground but blood started to flow normally through your body again.
>You felt a tug at your food from the rope still attached to you.
>Winnie had begun to drag you by the ankle back the way the two of you had came.
>You shifted a bit to try and see if there was any way to get loose.
>Winnie pulled tighter on the rope and gave a leer from over her shoulder.
“Mine.” She stated.
>With that Winnie continued to drag her prize back home.
>Occasionally she glanced back at you and each time her gaze was more depraved than before.
>You had a feeling that the last few hours were going to be the easy part of your night.

Congratulations! Youve unlocked the secret Ending!

Aye, happy to see my suggestion here. Also, has the captcha been overly lengthy for anyone else? It took 15 minutes before it gave me one.

>>146092076
New anti-spam measures got applied to all boards. New IP = wait 15 minutes before posting.

Ah, that makes sense. Probably for the best. Thanks for the info.

Why do they think new IPs are behind most spam and other garbage posts? The calls are coming from inside the house.

I can definitely see an episode of Courage featuring the ghoul school

The idea is to slow them down after evading. Whether or not it's effective, I don't know. I do know the posts/day across the site went down about 50k once it was implemented.

A better strategy would be to make a single post in each of the threads that are further down the list than this one, thus bumping them above this thread in the page count. That would accelerate this thread's descent down to page 10. But that sounds like a lot of work.

TONIGHT ON THE SPOOKY STREAM
All month long we’ve collected suggestions from Anons just like (You) and now, a selection of them is going to be screened tonight! First, in our pre-show, newly appointed ninja Randy Cunningham fights a skeletal mad scientist, and then, special hosts Vic Romano and Kenny Blankenship host a special, ghastly rendition of the world’s toughest competition in town, MOST EXTREME ELIMINATION CHALLENGE.
Our first viewer-chosen movie takes us away from the autumn weather onto a tropical island, struck by a powerful curse that has changed the population into a gaggle of surfing monsters. Faced with the wrath of a witch doctor and a real estate developer, the monsters join forces with two human kids to save the MONSTER BEACH!
Next, the beloved cast of Team Fortress 2 are cast into an impressive, fanmade animated horror film. Following a mysterious disappearance on Halloween night, an investigation is launched that leads into a surreal exploration of terror in EMESIS BLUE.
Our late show starts with a newly released craze in the anime industry, a supernatural comedy where two paranormal believers discover the true presence of ghosts, aliens and more in the mortal world. Finally, the wandering samurai, Jack, becomes trapped inside a haunted house, and must engage in a mind-bending battle to free the ones trapped inside.
But that’s not all! On account of this being a special viewer-suggested stream, we’re also showing a BONUS REAL EERIE picture, with Robert Eggers’ thrilling modern masterpiece about two lighthouse keepers marooned together in THE LIGHTHOUSE.

I usually get a bag of M&Ms, just the original kind, and a second bag of random fruit candy. This year it's a mix of four different candies, only two I recognize are nerds (I miss when Wonka was it's own candy brand) and trolli worms. I've never once had trick or treaters take even over half of the candy so I get stuff I'd like anyway, then ration the rest of it through the end of January.

Fuck yeah!

I'm still annoyed that the Universal Monsters blu-ray set includes the 40s Phantom but not any version of the 20s movie. The Chaney one is even listed in the booklet the set comes with! It's the only "series" in the set with a single entry.
