so i'm figuring out sizing for some iron rangers and i did all the brannock shit whatever, and it works out to a size 7. is that typical because i'm usually a 9 or 9.5 in a flat canvas shoe (vans, converse) and that seems really smalli can't try anything in person so i'm relying completely on the numbers / other reference shoes

>>18269038>>18269055I ordered one of these too. Problem is my mind is so powerful that it can literally alter the fabrics of reality. I can basically be a 9,5 to 10 brannock depending on what I want to be. I ordered a pair of boots but felt they were too snug so I decided to bite the bullet and actually buy a brannock device which then showed that I should be wearing half a size bigger boots so I ordered half a size bigger boots but then when I got them they felt too big so I went back to the brannock which then showed I should be wearing half a size smaller boots(original size). Don't even get me started on widths.Having such a powerful mind can be a curse at times. I just wish God had put some of that power into my dick instead

"set and setting is everything" and this includes your mind. "guise i just discovered psychedelics a few years ago and i think EVERYONE should do them" is a common experience for newer users who haven't really been around long enough to see how abruptly they can destroy someone's life and mental faculties. you just saw it earlier in this thread from some zoomer thinking his little sub-5 years of experience trying to shill it on me when i know for sure there's no way he has 1% my experience with them. i know several people who lost their marbles for life from a single shroom trip or whatever. mdma acid dmt can trigger it too. schizophrenia and bipolar seem to be the most common when it happens.

>>18271730How do you know it comes with leather footbed. On the website it just says "insole board"
>>18271757Frank's Patriots seem nice. I definitely don't need a 10" boot though. I'm not a firefighter or a logger, so that 10" height just kind of seems gratuitous.
>>18271729Wait till you see my car
>>18271777You get used to the 10 inches immediately, the deal is so good it's worth getting trust me.

Frank's boots are all for homosexual clowns.
>>18271810AS long as you wear some medium thickness wool socks that go to your calves it's fine imo.Plus the patriot leather is more flexible because it isn't from the shoulder it's from the back.
The 3sixteen boots are restocking in a few weeks, but will be toknexpensive for me with customs n shit. Any alternatives looks wise (black, higher, square ish) and construction wise (gyw)

Will be getting a pair of Red Wings tomorrow, likely the Blacksmith. I'm having trouble deciding on a color - at least from looking at images online. Probably going to go with Copper but I'm wondering if I'm sleeping on the Briar or Black Prairie? The black looks interesting as it ages but I would want to sometimes wear them with (khaki) chinos and that might not look great. The briar looks great but I maybe too reddish, and not as varied as it wears. Also might just end up getting IR in amber or muleskinner.
>>18271982I've got irs in amber and are very happy with them, to the point it's one of the boots I wear the most. Copper was a close second choice but ultimately I liked amber better. Don't know if they're currently offering blacksmiths in copper. The muleskinners are cool but veralk less versatile so I wouldn't get them as my first or main boot -so to speak- unless you're 100% sure those are the ones you want.Bottom line is you can't go wrong with amber or copper since both work well with khaki chinos. And as for irs vs blacksmiths, it depends on how you feel about the captoe, that's up to you.

>>18273249Nobody looks at their boots anymore. The Whites owner admits he just doesn't have time to check custom orders like he used to, demand and production are both too high. Either way, the cuck should throw a shitfit about it and call the bank when/if they refuse to make it right. At least White's will still ship you a new pair if they fuck up that bad.
>>18271982Pecos > Blacksmith > IRSimple as. But if you're getting blacksmiths, go for prairie. Teacore + khaki is a great combination

>>18273491
>>18273346What is the limiting factor for White's / Nick's to not hire more people? With lead times that long, they are leaving money on the table not having more capacity. Is it>not enough skill laborers in their area>they aren't interested in growing capacity for whatever reason>can't get enough of X raw material
>>18273510handwelting is hard work and is the main bottleneck for whites
>>18273491I can't deny the wide toe lasts are very comfy and functional. But it's a sacrifice of fashion for function, and redditors don't understand this
>>18273461i assumed it was a blind stitch, but this is nigs, so i shouldn't be surprised if it's actually just glue and tacks because they don't know how to do a blind stitch.
>>18273510Rising cost of living in the PNW is fucking up everyone who's not an expat web developer from cali.Nobody wants to be a trainee for years in stitching boots when the salary can't cover expenses.
>>18273510I dunno about White's, but Bakers said he just does not have the time to check every custom order anymore. That's why they had so many "final few" boots there for a long time and kept getting new ones, they were all fuck ups from Whites. I imagine it's mostly just the volume of orders and with higher volume comes more fuck ups. Couple that with a talent deficiency across ALL industries and it's just a fact of life.I sent my White's back after they were the wrong leather and wrong height, but they offered to just let me keep them and ship me a new pair. Nick's likely would not do such a thing.
>>18273510No one wants to make boots for $20 bucks an hour when rent is $2200 and groceries cost $150 every time. Not in a high cost of living state like Washington And you only make $20 after 2 years when you're fully trained. You'll make $15 until then. It's just not enough to live on. No point when Costco pays $25 to fold clothes
>>18273532I didn't realize the pay they were offering was so bad. That explains it, then
>>18273537"Living wage" just means $20 bucks an hour or close to it. That's 41k a year BEFORE taxes Only people that would do that job are boomers who bought a home when it cost $100k and their mortgage payment is 300 a monthYoung people are not taking these jobs. American boot making (and pretty much anywhere in a developed country) will die out because they can't get workers
>>18273549My guess is most brands will outsource production and a few will become small operations selling exclusive MTOs with a 18 month lead time and a 2k starting price.
>>18273586Outsourcing is a hot potato as the countries we delegate labor to become lesser shitholes too. So all the shit stuff will also be more expensive
>>18273592That's how industrial revolution works. There's plenty of shitholes in line to be the new China.
>>18273600There's only 197 or so possible shitholes and we've already regulated half or more of them beyond where it makes sense to do any work there. We've done this in not that long too
>>18273586There are small shops popping up here and there and are still one or two man operations. Those are going to be the places to get "nice" shit before too long.
>>18273586if you check out some of their "how are made" youll see lots of mexicans doing this shit. who else would be willing to work for these wages?
>>18272690I disagree, you bought Whites for $400 years and years ago and you can get a pair of Frank's Patriot today for $400.Taking inflation into account you paid more in the past and even not taking it into account you paid the same.
