Definitely "By the fireplace" from Maison Margiela's replica line. It is not boozy, but a warm comfy vanilla scent with almost a smokey quality to it although not directly. I think it is some roasted chestnut note or something. It is good and comfy and one of the few fragrances I have recommended as a blind buy. It is the wool socks and hot chocolate by the fireplace of fragrances. Perfect fall/winter/Christmas scent.

I'm not familiar with the newer releases, but they at least were a bit adventures a few years ago with some interesting and classic releases. They've been around since the early 80s and originally it was like the royalties of Oman who wanted to make the best high quality luxury perfume in the world. I don't know if they retain that ambition today and they compete with many new niche brands these days, making them less exciting, but I'd definitely put them above PDM and jerkoff.

Here I have acquired 3 versions of PRPH.

The far left is mostly lavender and moss dominant, I can barley detect the honey note. Very barbershop/oldschool, a real man's scent. The same vibe as bois de Portugal but can be worn daily.

The middle is imo the perfected PRPH. The honey comes out much more giving it a slight animalic edge to it, reminicent of Kourous even but not the pissy note, just something animalic about the honey. Less wearable than the modern but much more distinct than the other two.

The far right is the most wearable and modern feeling of the two.The notes are much more balanced and you can detect the honey only slightly. It is not animalic at all, still smells great though and is a fine masculine scent.

You can go as far to say that each bottle was reformulated for that particular decade. The middle is an 80's bottle and the right a 90s. The far left I think is the oldest.

Fragrance sample reviews (1/2):

Comme de Garcons - Odeur 71: Clean office soap with an off-putting opening that has too much of a bamboo note. Easy pass
Ex Nihilo - The Hedonist Extrait: It's Tygar. Again. Why is everyone doing fucking Tygar like Aventus? The Hedonist isn't even cheaper; they're both mindnumbingly expensive. It smells great, but what the fuck is going on?
Hilde Soliani - Bell'Antonio: Old duct with green spices like bay-leaf or dried coriander. I have no idea why anyone would want to smell like a pizza crypt.
Knize - Ten: Classic fougere with a touch (a real small dash) of castoreum for funk and to offset the florals. It's good but obviously dated. Still smells great though. Easy pickup for a guy.
Parfums de Nicolai - Saint Honore: A fucking shotgun blast of hazelnut and milk to the face. Creamy. Really realistic delicious desert. It's great, but not for guys. I wouldn't want to smell 'delicious.'
Parle Moi de Parfum - Comete Paradis: Coconut and Cocao layered on top of sandalwood. Much closer to unisex than St. Honore. It's like a gourmand version of ParleMdP's Milky Musk. After a couple of hours the top notes of coconut and cocao dissipate and you're left with the same warm wood base. It's nice. This is a well balanced but simple and linear frag.
Parle Moi de Parfum - Papyrus Oud: This is the second frag where I detected that strong astringest pencil shaving note from the woody chemicals. This is a dryyyyy wood smell. Sharp. Salty. Astringent.

Fragrance sample reviews (2/2):
Pierre Guillaume - Animal Mondain: Animalic + Honey + Floral. The first hour is a real treat. It's really nice modern animalic scent that's apparently supposed to smell like Art Deco buildings (the marble lobby.) The downside is that after an hour the Animalic accord disappears, and the whole thing somehow keep getting sweeter. That might be useful for a date where you may want that, but it's an odd progression.
Pierre Guillaume - Anti-Blues: Warm, freshly baked, ice cream waffle cone. it smells like that. It's actually more masculine than it seems because there's a leather accord that comes out after about 20 minutes, and a tobacco accord after ~40 minutes. A surprisingly layered scent what starts like a gourmand bomb.
Scout Dixon West - El Dorado: It's Encre Noir. Do you like Encre Noir? Do you wish it focused more on the woody notes and less on the dirt-after-some-rain notes? Then this is perfect.
Simone Andreoli - Venom/Scent of a Shaman: Rum + Pomagranate + Chergui. This smells deep. Sophisticated. and very well blended.
Tauer - Moroccan desert air - Dry spiced sandy airy. It's very fun and photo-realistic. I think it can work easily in most situations. The spices work well in the cold, and the feel of the desert works well in the heat. Nice.
Xerjoff - Homme Anniversary - Sweet Aromatic. it opens synthetic and clawingly sweet already only balanced by a thin green tarragon note. Once the tarragon dissipates, the whole thing becomes synthetic cotton candy. I don't understand the thinking behind this 'homme' fragrance. I don't see men lining up to smell like a 14-year-old girl's lip gloss.

>>18309545
Personally i think it is perfectly unisex. It isn't particularly feminine, but not particularly masculine either. It is sweet , but also woody (it technically has guaiac wood in the notes, but I think the mix of cloves and pepper makes it feel a bit woody). On fragnatica there are more people who thinks it leans masculine than leans feminine, probably for that reason. It is a very well put together scent since it almost reminds a little of the smell of wood burning in the fireplace without any real note that would imply that, just mixed together to get that feel.

>>18309669
It is similar to one of my favourite cheap fragrances: Pure Black by Mandarina Duck. Which unfortunately also doesn't last long, if anyone has a suggestion for a long lasting one then I would be glad. Good masculine fragrance tho.

Yeah but that's also unsatsifying and you end up accumulating tons of frags. It's a trap. I'd rather have one, maybe two solid scents I can rely on for most occasions. BI is great for that because it's (mostly) universally pleasant, has amazing performance, and works for pretty much every single occasion and season. It can be dressed up or down, it's fresh enough for summer and spicy enough for winter, and so on.
As a fragrance, it's not perfect and I've tried stuff that I would say are arguably better/more interesting (BI's weakness is its linearity after the opening, the opening itself is 10/10 but the drydown is not as memorable), but BI is the perfect all rounder

Seconded. Reformulations over the years are obviously ‘a thing’ but they don’t get enough well thought out, well written analysis, and the batch-to-batch fuckery is exhausting.

I’ll admit I really only care to see if the most current version is still decent because I have zero desire to go second hand shopping on EBay to find older formulations, but it’s very helpful nonetheless.

Eau des Baux is my winter interview scent, not too loud, masculine, appealing, and on the off chance a random normie/the interviewer should ask, uncommon enough of a brand (in the US) to be something of a side conversation starter.

Not sure what I’d wear to a summer interview… could go anywhere between BdC, TdH, GitS, Del Mar, or Neroli Mediterraneo.

If you want compliments from your fragrances, the first and absolutely most important step is to lose weight until you are down to around (within reason) the ideal BMI. At that point you look better, your clothes drape down over you better, your back is straighter because your gut doesn't torque it down from the front, and you have a more angular face. Health is vibrancy.

At that point you should wear the fragrance that makes you satisfied. That's it.

Do I blind buy Loewe Esencia EDP or Hacivat?

I've sampled Hacivat today, and I work outdoors doing construction work. It is really good, but you have to apply it intelligently otherwise you will gas yourself. It's burns off to an oak moss patchouli base, one spray is enough. The first review I wrote ever was how disgusting it was, I was just starting then so I learned how there's a certain finesse to applying.

Tom Fords best perfumes are all older perfumes slimmed up for modern tastes. They don't really evolve in the same way true masterworks like the Bernard Chant perfumes do. Black opium by YSL is sophisticated and very feminine. With coffee and vanilla. It also smells expensive. Very bossgirl, perfect for office and even in the evening.

If you want something clean, flowery, youthful instead then Chloé Eau de Parfum, is great. It is gentle and great for the office. Very nice if she wants to feel clean and fresh.

Black Orchid is a great suggestion, except for the fact that everyone will smell her a mile away and that might be uncomfortable in an office unless she's a particular type of girl boss.

If she is a more careful subdued sort then Chanel Chance Eau Tendre is great. Soft, floral, feminine and probably easy to wear to the office. Pleasant and uplifting. Maybe a bit too summerly and spring-like. But we don't know your sister. That might be her thing.

Which are in direct competition with price, i certainly smell the freshness of GIT but after the first 5 minutes it simply cannot compete ahead with the drydown of ANY arab dupe and clone there is under the sun.
I believe you are a faggot who gets persuaded by the craftsmanship of top notes which is the mastery of the nufrench, they sell and you buy bottles based on the first notes you smell and then it fades away into plain jane synthetic base notes you think are natural because you don't know much about perfumery either.

Just use Carven Oud, it's an inoffensive scent, takes a monster note into office-safe levels and it lasts a while. Just don't get angry when many of us can do the same with 2 or 3 Maison Alhambra bottles because no one will smell the top notes when we get to work.

Jimmy Choo/Chew/Shoe Man Ice, what a hardass to find but here it is, a "recent" Michel Almairac creation.
Not worth the hunt nor the retarded prices (90 for a full bottle IF you find it) but nonetheless interesting to smell, not my style definitely: Opens with a sharp dry citrus mixed with the kind of vetiver i dislike, powdery and very obvious, like chewing grass and not lemongrass.
The citrus is like neroli with a bit of mandarin peel, notes say it's citron, and over a bed of powdery woody vetiver with a base of musky cleanliness, i suppose ambroxan but it's not that obvious, the musk hides it well, the kind of musk that isn't white but a bit more dense than normal for a freshie, reminds me of the neck musk from a "clean" girl that you get a whiff from when you greet her with an air kiss. Best part of the frag IMO.

And that's it, top notes last for a good while, half an hour, but overall it's a 3 to 4 hour chump. Gets compared to Dior Homo Cologne, in my opinion they are from the same family but somewhat different, can be differentiated in a blind test due to the vetiver, and for the price honestly it's better to pick the Dior, cooler bottle too.
Love Almairac but this is a no from me, dog. Not a bad scent, just not powerful and not my style either.

Calvin Klein One. Although it is actually incredibly boring, it is still what has gotten me the most compliments. I don't think that is the thing you should look for. And most that women would compliment reminds them of their ex. Just get something clean and nice that is unusual. My SOTD is that, although it is my safe office scent though. It is clean, fresh, inoffensive, and smells reliable. Penhaligon's Sartorial is similar. Depends on the setting. If you are on a movie date and want a woman to get closer then I love to recommend Maison Margiela's "by the fireplace" from their replica line. But if you just want to bang then fuck boy frags are the way to go. Another guy gave good recommendations for that.

Tested this for the first time the other day and was surprised how weak it was. There’s always the chance that it just doesn’t perform well on my skin, but that was my experience.

Also, if memory serves, most people compare it to things like Kouros, and to me I didn’t get anything like that, it was more woody medicinal than anything else. Started out herbal/medicinal with a faint aura of pine tar smoke on the fringe, dried down to mostly just generic woody scent, and at the very tail end it went even beyond that to like a diluted, chemical vetiveryl acetate smell.

Over all I was disappointed, not because it was particularly bad, I would call it mid, mostly just because it didn’t live up to the hype.

Tries to copy GIT and Cool Water but doesn't nail down either, it's half and half but missing some notes.
The drydown is spot on but the top notes lack the iris and the menthol mint, perhaps the rosemary, but it does contain the lavender, violet leaf, sandal, mossy cedar, does also have hints of tobacco like old CW had.
Pretty decent for the price but doesn't have the sparkling top note nature of either bottles, does have the performance and beyond.

Maybe you are acquainted to it and can now detect many of its phases, including the funky note.
It has a notable incense and with many aquatics, when you can smell the calone you are hard pressed to ignore it. Italian houses are notorious for their egg white calone.

Fragrances do not belong is bathrooms or any degree of sunlight. Whether those caused the effect or your skin chemistry, air quality, or sense of smell is hard to say for certain.

I think that Penhaligon's is a great house, except they dont have discovery sample vials of all their stuff. You have to go there and try. Or find someone who sells decants. But they usually make cool stuff. But I haven't tried that one.

You are right.

Was on coach rob's YouTube channel and would always bring it up. Aventus is king but this is up there too. He knows what the ladies like.

Depending what the ladies say, determines what I spray, peace.

Guerlain bosca vanilla forte
Acqua di parma fico di amalfi
Both are unisex and have a bright clean summer vibe to them. They're also out of the way from being regular designer slop. Get them at discounters like jomashop or fragrancebuy.
I can also recommend ingenious ginger as the easy slightly expensive version of Tygar which is normally $430.
All this said, 20 year olds probably want something juicy and sweet so just get D&G the one eau de toilette

>Don't like florals
Florals is great. I would wear tuberose all the time if people didn't just think feminine when wearing it. Florals can be fantastic. But you just need to buy some samples of some things. The reply to this have some fun feminine fragnances.
