How does Guerlain Vetiver compare to TF Grey Vetiver EDT in terms of performance? I find TF to be extremely weak, I use about 6 sprays to get any sort of scent bubble at all, and it lasts maybe 4 hours. I like the smell but I think I'd rather sell it for something with more staying power.

I’m starting to get into the mindset of spending a bit here and there on decants of better fragrances rather than spending on full bottles of clones. 5ml is enough to see if something is good enough to wear consistently and once it runs out you’ll know if you want a full bottle. They’re less clutter too. Glad you asked, I am in the middle of a deodorant crisis myself and feel like spilling some autism.
I used Old Spice Sweat Defense “Extra Fresh” for years and they discontinued it, I stockpiled of course but just ran out.
Tried the “Captain” version the other day and it was decently mild citrusy/aquatic up top, but after a few hours something heavy and ambroxan-y in the base of it comes out STRONG radiating out my armpits and really bothered me.
On the unscented side: I’ve used arm & hammer unscented and it’s similarly fine for a while, but a few hours of sweat and it turns to this awful chemical smell. Usable in a pinch.
Mitchum always gets recommended but it reads as this weird fleshy sandalwood smell to me, not really unscented.
Natural/non-aluminum options are a complete non-starter for me, always get BO coming through an hour or two in.
Harry’s “Stone” extra-strength (antiperspirant, not the aluminum free) isn’t bad, but is a little clumpy.
Unfortunately I’m in need of a product with antiperspirant, anti-odor strength that doesn’t have too obnoxious a smell, and I’m pretty fucking picky. Old Spice Sweat Defense line has the manpower but a lot of the scents are bad or way too strong (or both).
Currently eyeing the Gillette Clinical Antiperspirant, bit pricey but that’s what I’ll probably try next time I’m at the store.
Open to any recommendations.

If you want “Western American forest” literally nothing will beat one of Pineward’s frags, just look through his catalog and pick a couple things based on the notes/descriptions. The only problem with his stuff are about ~1/3 of them are *highly* (naturally) pigmented, and another ~1/3rd and lightly pigmented, so you’ll get a little skin stain, and they don’t combine well with white shirts. Reiterating though, literally the best, most natural, forest scents.

Personally I recommend (and own) Greymist as an ideal evergreen forest scent, and it’s totally clear.

I believe the worst offender was Caravansary, which is a real shame because it’s an absolutely gorgeous scent and very multifaceted. Unfortunately it leaves a fairly dark, shiny, forest green stain on my skin for over 4 hours, at which point I rubbed it into my skin until it finally disappeared.
Most/all the other ones that leave any skin stain (which again, isn’t all of them) would range from a light colored shimmer to a slightly darker sheen that looked like a healing bruise, and they’d fade after ~30 minutes.

SOTD: I got a sample of shaghaf oud tonka by Swiss Arabian. What a wonderful scent. Definitely the best oud-based scent I tried. I usually don't like oud, but I love Tonka Bean so I had a try and I love it. The oud is good and warm. It has this nice soapy smell in the drydown.
