Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy diseased heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

I've lost 104 lbs this year. I used to count calories, but I gave it up last month because I just naturally eat better now out of habit. I have a record of every single thing I ate for 9 months lmao

Now I just try to do OMAD when I feel like it. This is a lifestyle, not a punishment, so when I'm really craving a little meat I just fucking have some. And make sure I'm always getting plenty of vegetables during my meal. Also I only drink water or green tea.

My weight loss hasn't slowed down since I stopped counting calories. If the line of the graph deviates, I'll get back into it.

Posting here because I don't see a better place to ask about it.

Something like this happens probably once or twice a month.

Eat something and pass it (diarrhea) within 2 hours. This is absurd time-wise but I saw partially digested items from what I ate after not having eaten that item for weeks before.

This basically means I almost certainly have some gastrointestinal issues, whether that's IBS or something else. Notably, it is causing me to have a difficult time eating healthier foods. Stir fry, salads, charcuterie, whatever.

That's my only concern really, but the fact is that I've tried to kickstart a healthy lifestyle 3 times in the past year and failed miserably.
I mean in theory, nothing is stopping me, but in practice I just can't.

I need some kind of drastic change in my life and I think this is what I need. I have enough money to stay off work for a year or two, so I think I'll take a good 6 months off otherwise I'll regret it. If I get any fatter I'll get in that "too fat to try" mindset which will be my demise. Already I need 6 months of strict diet to get back to a normal/good weight, anything more than that and I'll be unable to cope with the idea mentally.

Hopefully, when I get back to work I'll be able to keep it off. Imo it's a lot easier to stay thin when you've got something lose, whereas if you're already fat you feel like it doesn't matter.

Well boys, it finally happened. I've fasted before, dieted before, worked out before, lost and gained weight. But now I have found my truest motivation. Fuckin' money.

Had a second interview today for my dream job. Trades, pays about 130k a year including 401k match, in a part of the country I like, with cheap cost of living. The equipment I would be operating is interesting and modern and I would have every other week off to travel or just rest. There's one catch. The safety standards at this place require that I be under 310 lb in all my work gear with fall protection so I can safely utilize certain equipment. I am currently 325, 6'0", and have to drop weight before I take the pre employment physical.

I'm not here asking for a miracle cure, my plan is to cut out drinking, to drop caloric intake to a level that will have me hopefully losing several pounds a week, and mix in more exercise. Advice is of course appreciated.

Only had problems with one day. Started back mountain biking and got low blood sugar as I was leaving Monday. Ate a poptart which helped me not pass out. Then when I got home (only rode for a half hour test ride) I was very hungry and ate around 2400 calories. Today was the second day bike riding, I was out longer, but I prepared better so I didn't have low blood sugar. Ate extra crackers and cheese to make up for it. Around 1500 calories. Still on track to hit my goal. Should be 239lbs in a day or so. I'm losing around half pound a day, but I added extra time from the start cause I know I'm not perfect and was going to run into issues with biking and whatever else.

Here's one workout. It's all dumbbells. Each exercise comes with a video showing the motion so you're less likely to fuck it up. Half of those expect you to have a flat bench.
My home gym consists of a pair of adjustable dumbbells, a flat bench, and a mat (which I use for push ups/planks/whatever.)
It's pretty minimalist already, and I'm not sure you can do well with less than that.
With only one size of dumbbells, all you can tweak is the number of reps. Right now you can do 10. Next month, you'll be able to do 20. And then you'll be solidly into a silly number of reps and way past time to use bigger weights, because your muscle simply won't be challenged by your current dumbbells anymore, and so you won't see progress.

Which is still certainly less than what an average lifter would use, but that does not matter.
What matter is that I'm sticking to it, and I'm making progress.
Well not right now exactly because I strained something in my left shoulder a couple days ago, but as soon as that heals I'll be back on it. I was just about to try 22.5lbs before that happened.

It's <current year>, so I have algorithms doing the cheating for me.
For example, I use https://trendweight.com/ to plot a weight trend that grabs my weights from my fitbit scale.
It grabs the lowest weight of each day, and then smooths the heck out of it, so you get a longer term trend that completely absorbs any temporary hiccups.
I still have all the raw data recorded, but it doesn't mean I need to obsess over it.
