why are you so afraid of pushups, chud?
>>
I do weighted pushups with 66lbs on my back
>>
>>75378800
Newfag. THIS IS NOW A PUSH-UP THREAD. GET ROLLIN'
>>
>>75378805
Rollan!
>>
I can only do 7 pushup in a row bros.....
>>
Because of how inconsistent I am at them. My best is 39 but I sometimes tap out as low as 30
>>
they say if I can do many pushups I will get better at fucking and last longer. is it true?
>>
>>75378802
>does calisthenic exercise
>uses weights anyway
You'll probably be able to get gains but frankly it's not in the spirit of the training style.
doing harder things like decline, handstand or one arm push ups would improve the strength of smaller stability muscles you wouldn't activate in the standard push up.
Might be better to just bench or bent press if you want to increase weight.
>>
>>75378802
I believe it's 14 pushups of 88 lbs on your back
>>
shitty exercise i used to do them. I spent like a decade not doing them. Then tried to do them again, easily did 60 without even trying.
Joke exercise like crunches
>>
>>75378825
I can't do more than 10 pushup. help
>>
>>75378827
lose weight, it makes it easier
>>
>>75378832
I only have a pair of 5kg dumbbell and I'm too unfit.
help me pick some simple exercises I can do to change my life bro
>>
>>75378800
I do my pushups with a bar that has 1.6 times my bodyweight on it.
>>
>>75378822
My focus is primarily strenght training and I like working with lower rep ranges. I train from home and don't have a bench and a barbell but I would bench press if I did.

>>75378823
Lol, that's a new goal now.
>>
>>75378800
Rolling for pushups
>>
>>75378853
You can also just get a bag and try to raise that over your head.
Might be more awkward than a barbell but strongmen have dealt with more awkward weights than a bag.
>>
>>75379061
Like a shoulder press or a tricep overhead extension?
>>
>>75378800
Incline push-ups hit chest more because of how you brace by curving your spine to hit chest, and opposite to get debts big enough to handle bigger bench. Fuck you push up peasants.
>>
>>75379070
Yeah, you can also bend at the hip to get under the weight and activate your larger chest muscles like a typical bench but only with one arm.
With that technique people have managed to lift almost as much as people can lift with two arms in the overhead press.
It's called the bent press. That was the standard display of strength before the bench press and is frankly much more impressive.
It would probably still be the standard for strength if the world wars didn't starve the strongmen.
Alas it was not passed down to the next generation.
>>
>>75378800
I'm not. I've recently phased out bench press for weighted pushups. I got up to a 235 bench during my bulk. Pushups have been restoring my form/neural drive in my chest, delts and triceps and also giving me amazing hypertrophy gains, because they're way easier to grind on (for me), much safer to fail on, and you can do short pauses to recover and do more reps within a set to really push your pecs.
>>75378802
Very nice. I'm doing 4*12 with 50lbs atm. If you want a good way to get a big stretch for muscle gains doing them with hands elevated off the floor is great.
>>
>>75378800
>why are you so afraid of pushups, chud?
>t.roid *** midget
cause it's dumb fucking injurious bullshit, even in this very picture his pecs are relaxed
>it's a special pushup with upper body rounding at top and shoulder protraction
doesn't change the fact that this is still true:
>75369721
>with bench shoulders must be retracted which wraps pectoralis muscle around ribcage
>you know what is the reason for stalled reps in bench? like it goes from the bottom a little but then suddenly gets too heavy to push to lockoff? as barbell goes up elbows go up and muscle fibers of pecs start to unwrap from ribcage which creates slack in the muscle
>that's the bench hole, no there is nothing that salvages this movement for pec development, no angle, no implement, nothing, bench, like ohp is fucking retarded injurious nonsense
and since we've got already linked impingeless sternal head of pectoralis major isolation there is no reason not to disclose the one, the only clavicular head of pectoralis major static hold, it looks like dance move of sort:
stand near wall and brace elbow at shoulder height, internal shoulder rotation until forarm is parallel to floor elbow bent - that's your resistance
now place elbow of other arm in open palm of resisting arm protract shoulder and fully externally rotate it (forearm as high as it goes), by pressing elbow into open palm u isolate clavicular head of pectoralis major of the side u are pressing elbow into palm with

no impingement, no shitty interrupted tendon ruining contraction like bench or pushup or ohp of any sort, complete isolation from front delt - it is soft as butter when u do it, no strain on biceps, nor elbow, nor shoulder, no undue strain on triceps either and its tendons
>>
>>75379126
>>75369721
now it will work :D
>>
>>75379126
>by pressing elbow into open palm u isolate clavicular head of pectoralis major of the side u are pressing elbow into palm with
that's the side pressure larry wheels was whining about that had none from benching when he started arm wrestling
well if ur incline looks like most people's decline u will not fuck ur shoulders that quickly, but u will not get any upper pecs either :D
>>
>>75379107
Thanks, I will try this lift out. Apprently it's great for the obliques too, and it does look alpha as fuck.

>>75379112
Great advice, the stretch feels awesome. I got crazy DOMS when I did that for the first time.
>>
>>75378805
rolling
>>
>>75378822

good advice

doing weighted shitty oapus will let you progress into stricter ones

>>75379547
one elbow side pressure yes
>>75379126
one arm pushup is even dumber than regular pushup or bench
>>
>>75378816
One day you will do eight
>>
>>75378816
cool. Do 7 at a time then. I can do 40-50+
>>
push ups are like 90% of my workout because I'm a calisthenics dyel and I'm too poor to afford large weights
>>
>>75378800
powershitters massive guts stick out further than their arms and they can't even touch the ground to do a pushup
>>
>>75378800
I am not afraid, I just can't do them. I don't know why, I find them hard to do.
I can go up to 20 or so, then I can't keep going, and it doesn't seem I can get any better at this.
>>
>>75378802
Risk taker.
>>
>>75378800
>>75378805
Why do push-ups when you can bench press?
>>
>>75378800
Yeah, terrified.
>>
>>75381603
just use a fucking backpack holy shit that nigga is retarded
>>
I can't do them no more. My right shoulder is sawdusted. It's been three years and it hasn't healed so it will never heal. I used to do 60 daily.

How did he get the weights stacked on his back. If someone helped, why didn't they just help take them off.

Too fat and out of shape to do more than 3.
Doing planks in the meantime while I am working on getting in shape.

This lel

the tendons and nerves in my elbows get this scary tingling and shaking feeling when I do too many pushups in a row. it fucking psyches me out and I don't know how to stop it. I think I just need to keep spacing out my pushups sets until my arms get strong enough. it's concerning that the tingling hasn't gone away

Easiest way to build muscle as a dyel
You will get wider after just three months of regular push ups

My push up routine
>normal shoulder width push up
>diamond handed push, obliterates your tris
>divebombers
>wide grip push up

Boom, push day done
>>
>>75378800
I do dips instead
>>
>>75378800
I’m up to 160 a day I do 4 sets of 40. Apparently I have high cholesterol so I’ve been working out for 3 months I used to be a beast when I was young but then I was a lazy pothead neet for years and I guess that fucked up my health. I’m slowly getting back in shape tho.
>>
>>75381603
This stupid, old fool got what he deserved. What a retard.
>>
>>75378800
I do pushups, but instead of facing the floor and pushing myself up, I lay on a bench facing the ceiling and push a loaded barbell up. I prefer doing this because the ability to precisely manage the amount of weight allows me to track progress better and work in a wider variety of rep ranges. I call this exercise the "Bench Push"
>>
>>75378800
I only do 1x5 bench a week, I'm at 245lbs weight for bench, and was able to do 80 pushups in a row on low food in extreme heat before it got uncomfortable. Pushups are way too easy, not a good exercise. You'd have to sit there doing 80+ to failure instead of just loading weight onto a bar and doing 5 reps per week, or waste time doing more if you want your tits to bloat up like a woman's.
>>
At a certain point you graduate to bench press
>>
>>75378800
i'm too fat to do a single pushup. i'm too fat to do a single pull up. how do i do anything ever
>>

Based, rolling
>>
>>75383444
like chad, 'cept w/ (u).

>i'm too fat to do a single pushup
easier progression first do kneeling push ups or if those are to hard lean against wall push ups

>>

start with knee pushups or doorway pushups
>>

How many planche push ups is that?

bingo :D
yep, when i put my palms together and compress i feel just the clavicular head of pectoralis major, right under clavicle - did it yesterday

it's my go to from now on

why are calisthenics faggots always topless?

the same is true for ur retardo pushup

Push ups are my least favourite bodyweight workout I do. It's just such a fucking pain in the ass to do, I get like 1/3rd through a set and I want it to be over already
>>
>>75383921
Cause you're weak
>>
>>75383945
It's just the highest effort thing out of all of them. I do one arm pushups, I wouldn't say I'm weak but I don't think it's all that impressive.

don't see any need to isolate forearms when u already do those bot

why is there no abs thread in the catalogue? not one,
even this one "died" lol

should my push-ups be increasing with my bench?

yes, both should be zero - zero weight and zero reps in reverse order bot - stop trying to jump in front of my post while i wait fucking 15 minutes to post lol
>>
>>75384515
>do 200
i did upwards of 400 every other day and it's still dumb fucking injurious movement that does not build pecs :D
>>75384076
>>75379126
today i am walking with strained pectoralis clavicular head only, - very odd sensation :D
>>75383901
>bingo :D
>yep, when i put my palms together and compress i feel just the clavicular head of pectoralis major, right under clavicle - did it yesterday
>>75383909
sensation is odd because anything resulting in doms/strain on muscle belly in this place was until now only available with bummed shoulder, only with torture on front delt
i still catch myself alerted whenever i do sth requireing shoulder health or mobility or straight up power
>no i can't do this
>ok i can do this but it's gonna hurt and i might fuck myself up even more
>i need to get my bench/pushup in, i need my fix!
xD no mas, it doesn't hurt and i can do it and i don't need to bench, nor pushup to dream of (in vain) engaginfg pectoralis, each head separately, each unilarterally, each impingelessly
>>
>>75384607

>>75384231
>My shoulders don't hurt though
so u want to be over already because front delt died long ago and now it's just fucking torture and pec is laughing at ur retarded efforts? what is it? >>75383921
>I get like 1/3rd through a set and I want it to be over already
it feels pointless because it is pointless bot :D
>>

>>
>afraid
I don't like wasting time and energy when I could be doing an exercise I can easily progressive overload
>>
>>75385625
to be fair pushups are one of the easiest exercises to progressively overload on.
>>
>>75385738
not even close? not easy to add weight to a pushup. you can add reps only or try awkwardly stacking plates on your back.
>>
>>75385802
What's awkward about it? Just put weights in a solid backpack and you're off to gainstown
Also you can change the angles, add hand elevation/width... There's a lot you can do. I'm not saying this like "pushups are better than bench press" or anything. If you like benching and it works for you, great, keep doing it. I'm just saying pushups are very versatile, can be done anywhere, and at least to me feel a lot more "natural" because unlike a barbell you can change your wrist angle and push in a way that is the most optimal for pec recruitment.
I lift for hypertrophy and not powerlifting, if you do then obviously you have to bench.

I'm not, I've done them as part of my (almost) daily routine for half a year now
>start with 10x3
>on last push-up of day 2 pull a neck muscle or something that puts me out for 10 days
>switch to 7x4
>gradually increase count every ~2 weeks
>currently at 13x3 + 11 for an even 50
My weight is still the same after these 6 months because I refuse to stop consuming soda and sweets, but I'm starting to get a little definition in my arms now, so I'm less bothered by having bigger boobs than my sister
