how was 2004 internet, before facebook and youtube? how different was society? were people less lonely and did you live through it?

in 2004 i mostly used internet for mIRC to chat about hobbies and get south park episodes the moment they finished airing.
I also used it for MSN to msg my friends cuz no one had a cellphone etc.
Downloaded music to burn on CDs
viewed random sites for funny shit but those sites took forever to get new content that just browsing it once a week for 1h was enough like eubaumsworld.com
that was it....

(Respectful) forum culture is something that's increasingly getting lost over time. Discord is being seen as a replacement but it's barely searchable. Information density seemed a lot higher back then. Hobbyists shared forums with other hobbyists. The last huge hit in my personal experience was the closure of stilmagazin.de, Germanys biggest forum on classic menswear. An incredible treasure trove now lost. What remains for the average user are less in-depth "magazine"-like general information, oftentimes wrong, risky or downright false.

I miss the old internet, just like I miss my old country.

Way better. There were no normies on the internet back then, and no third worlders. That alone accounted for the pre-smartphone internet being 100x better than the one we have today.

.height here is what I'm looking for, including a whole new library just for that sucks though.
looking thru the X11 atom properties all I find is POINT_SIZE (which is smaller than ascent + descent after dividing by 10) and PIXEL_SIZE (which is exactly ascent + descent). I'm expecting to see 1-2px leading on a 12 point font, at least, that is what windows was giving me.

I added a new greeting so I'm shilling her one last time.

Avatar of Death foxgirl lolibaba delivery.
Nebet is the Avatar, the incarnation of the essence of Nephthys, Egyptian Goddess of Death. And many other things as well. She lives a mostly solitary existence in her temple, only interacting with man when her duties require it, and staying out of interpersonal relationships due to most people thinking she's quite creepy, if not outright cursed. But at heart, she's a sweet and motherly girl. Just very lonely.

Five greetings.
1. She finds you passed out in front of her temple and nurses you back to health.
2. She comes to your house, sensing that someone is dying there. The greeting is left open so that {{user}} is either the dying person or a friend/family member.
3. She sees you troubled in thought and offers to listen.
4. She's pregnant with your child. Yeah I just felt like there had to be a pregnancy greeting.
5. The two of you have been dating for two months and are returning to her temple after a date at the nearby necropolis. Serves as an inbetween for the first three greetings and the fourth one.

All of these technological advancements and yet people are actively rejecting it. At what point do you think technology becomes useless and have we already reached that point?

People are rejecting the tech that only serves to make the more miserable. Nobody is rejecting technology that's actually useful and makes life better. You don't see massive amounts of people complaining about how electric lighting or a machine that washes your dirty clothes is evil.

Would it be morally wrong to write c/c++ code with AI?

Why wpold it be morally wrong? LLMs are tool and you should use it as long as it helps. Also there is no such thing as AI.

price difference is probably ~$300, that is small enough to justify it, if you're gonna built a stupid overpriced SFF system, why would you gimp it.

the correct thing to do instead of buying a overpriced POS, is to buy a cheap POS, you'd litterally be better off buying an a770 (16gb) and lowering the power limit to whatever the minimum is, and use a riser if you have a stupid SFF case.

is it normal for all 1000:1 contrast ratio monitors to have this grey tint over everything?
been trying to upgrade from an old office monitor for some time now and all three of the new monitors iv tried nothing looks really black just dark grey

so far all 3 that iv tried are IPS so im thinking i should try a VA since i dont want to spend for an OLED

https://www.lg.com/ca_en/monitors/gaming/27gp850-b/
this is the monitor i got and wondering if its defective because some games are almost unplayable because at night time everything just looks like a grey blur
>>
I strongly recommend you save your shekels for a while longer until you can afford a decent OLED. Between my desktop display, phone and Steam Deck, I just can't go back to LCD. I hope we'll eventually get an OLED or successor panel technology for Framework laptops, because while it's a good LCD panel, it's still an LCD panel.
>>
>>106543478
Save your shekels for a decent OLED, and then keep doing it so you can replace it when it burns in.
>>
>>106543478
Iv considered some of the OELDs for around 500$ but im worried they might not last more than 2 or 3 years because of burn in
>>
>>106543296
I had a VA monitor once. The black smear was bad enough to make me swear off VA panels for eternity.

>>106543478
I don't think OLED burn in has been solved yet for desktop monitors being used daily with static elements. Maybe if you have a dedicated OLED monitor for multimedia it's fine but otherwise I wouldn't risk it.

For me, doing mostly productivity work on my monitors with static elements all day every day it seems IPS is still the only option, even though it has its downsides like bad contrast (which I'd take over black smearing or burn in any time)

I don't personally care about USB 3 speeds on any phone honestly, I'm sure there are use cases for it but I'm not the target demographic that's for sure. If I wanna transfer large amounts of photo's and videos over to my laptop I'll use my dedicated camera and a SD card. Shrimple as that.

That said I haven't even looked at this garbage and I'm sure it's wildly over priced for what it is, also I won't be surprised if this thing easily bends itself to death in peoples pockets. I'm starting to believe the rumor that this is just a trial run for their own crack at making a folding phone in the future.
