Competency crisis. I have no idea who green lit a cable with half the pin size and no current monitoring. I'm half tempted to solder a fat 2 pin QS8-V2 connector with an 6 Gauge to it. They can soak up a sweet 600 amps.
>>
>>107712022
quite a lot of people greenlit it anon
>nvidia commissioned external company to make it for them
>company gives them the initial 12-pin 12v connector
>nvidia okays it and uses it on the 3070, 3080 and 3090 FE
>wants to add it to atx spec to drive costs down
>brings it to intel
>also coincidentally pushed by dell to customers for whatever reason (kickbacks?)
>CEM5 12+4 pin connector is born
>greenlit by intel and all other members of atx consortium to be added to atx3.0 psu spec

Used to post "1girl, arms behind back" during the SD1.5 era in /sdg/
>>
>>107711772
How was /sdg/ before /ldg/ existed? Was Debo as bad as the rumors say?
>>
>>107711871
NTA but it was a slow transformation from a friendly and productive thread to something that resembled a Discord chatroom rather than a 4chan thread.
I never felt like Debo was particularly bad, to me he was just another retarded attention whore out of many that resided in /sdg/. His shitposting was annoying but relatively harmless, nothing like actual schizos from the current-day diffusion threads. I didn't pay *that* much attention though so I admit I might be missing some context.
>>
>>107711924
I never paid much attention to the drama shit either but that was also my impression.
Sure, the guy's an annoying dumbass, but the people endlessly seething and about him day in and day out were much more annoying than he was.
>>
>>107711924
>His shitposting was annoying but relatively harmless, nothing like actual schizos from the current-day diffusion threads.
The schizos nowadays are coming with the specific intention of killing the general, which even makes me suspicious that they could be from another imageboard.

lol boot licking does NOT work in current_year. basically all tech jobs have hundreds of applicants including jeets willing to do anything for peanuts, actual experienced devs that got recently laid off, and newgrads also willing to do anything for peanuts and experience. they basically have a buffet to choose from so they're not gonna go with the guy with the firm handshake

it's a numbers game now; it's better to shotgun 100 applications and pray one hits than hand tailor 10 all day and probably just get ghosted by all 10. also that includes just applying to anything and everything that you think you can do rather than everything you meet all the requirements for. a job listing is a wishlist, you don't necessarily need all the checkboxes to even send in a resume. furthermore letter of intent/cover letter/introduction are a humiliation ritual at this point. if you absolutely must or if you just really want one, just have AI do it and spot check it, maybe even paraphrase some so it's not obviously AI and be done with it. but don't sit there spending your time thoughtfully writing letters for these companies, they don't care
>>
>>107711848
People complaining about companies not hiring them also don't really understand what HR has to deal with. Just to make it absolutely clear: I'm not an HR person, but I do have a pretty good glimpse into what they have to deal with. 90-95% of the applications we receive are totally irrelevant or written by fucking Indian scammers. Imagine having to deal with absolute fucking frauds, scammers and bullshitters day in and day out, 5 days a week. At that point you'd start rejecting applications automatically without giving them a second look yourself. To get employed in this day and age, people need to find a way to apply to positions that are no less than 90% relevant to them, and make sure they stand out from 99% of the sludge that HR is spammed with.
>>
>>107707338
If you don't want your job, can I have it?

Am I really supposed to feel bad about departments that exist purely to enforce DEI rules on private companies? Fuck them. They deserve everything happening to them.

>Kimi linear
Had no idea this was a thing.
>Kimi Linear is a hybrid linear attention architecture designed to outperform traditional full attention methods in long-context and scaling regimes. It uses Kimi Delta Attention (KDA) and a hybrid architecture (3:1 KDA-to-MLA ratio) to reduce memory usage and boost throughput by up to 6x on long sequences.
Neat.
There's even experimental GGUFs on huggingface to run with that branch.

why not just get a mini pc at that point

I'm almost one month in owning a GPD pocket 4. Immediately replaced the chink windows 11 install for arch. Thought about keeping windows as dual boot, but couldn't reuse the EFI partition so good riddance. It's too early for a proper review, but this is the takeaway so far:

>fan is quite loud but keeps it very cool
>bios has a possibility for setting a maximum charge limit below 100% which is nice
>screen default rotation is fucked, but it's not a big deal, there's enough references for accounting for that online
>keyboard is definitely not good, the feel is ok, but the enter and space key sometimes don't register if you hit them weirdly on the side
>touchpad is recognized as a mouse, I can't even begin to understand how gestures still work
>it comes with a screen protector applied, but unless you read obscure reddit posts you won't know it's there and you'll pull it off and throw it away with the plastic film
>microphone is horrific, it picks up noise from the fan and needs additional noise filtering in pipewire to be anywhere near usable, but somehow I made it work

Build quality is actually better than I expected. No play in the hinge, the bottom chassis looks to be annodized aluminium or magnesium alloy.
While holding it standing up mouse work for browsing the net or virtually anything else works perfectly. Unfortunately in the same scenario the keyboard is still a bit too big to thumb type and tiny while typing on a desk or lap normally, but the form factor still works out. I keep it docked with a kb/mouse and monitor when I'm at my desk and handheld on the couch. Holding it flipped as a tablet also works beautifully and I used that to watch tv shows in bed.

If you aren't going to use it often (i.e. just for long term storage), you could do what i do and have it as a cold storage server that gets turned on only when needed; just put a couple of large disks (e.g. 8tb) mirrored in it and run unraid on it.

If I needed a proper nas regularly or semi regularly, since I already have 4 1tb SSDs lying around, I'd get a pi and a 4 way sata shield and do it that way for low power usage. As it is, my homeassistant box already has a 2tb SSD on it for downloading torrents and the folder is shared via samba. That's really all I need.

Mostly. Apart from the second RAM slot the T480 can take bigger batteries. Replacement keyboards are easier to source for T480s.

Like the other poster said, you do. If it fails, you can disable it, but only by unsoldering some jumpers or flashing a modded BIOS externally.
