First time edition!!!

The last thread was ages ago and I missed seeing some cool setups!

I apologize if I'm missing anything cause this is my first time posting one of these, hopefully we can share some nice setups!!

that was a cool video

i think sometimes people overlook all the cool shit the boring companies were doing in the 2000's
>>
>>107707934
I long for the sovl of the 2000s. Companies were willing to take chances that they would never dream of taking today. It seems like the tides are turning and optimism in design will return, but I don't hold my breath. Beautiful setup nonetheless. Not that anon btw, just chiming in.

I am beginning to realize my engine is a hamster wheel I have constructed for myself as a distraction from my real problems. I have spent literal years obsessing over a project I (or anyone else) will never use to make anything. Holy fuck, what am I even doing...
>>
>>107710335
It's never too late to change course and create a game with it. If the game's gimmick is the fact that it's made on a home made engine, then so be it. Just make sure to make it simple and easy enough so you actually finish it and people actually play it.

i mean. its better than all the other noteapps + its markdown. i always used it when studying because it lets me create convenient indexes for everything and i can chain them together so i never have to *look* for notes. the application itself though is bloated electron garbage, which is why i dont really use it in my free time. still vastly superior to the alternatives

>>

>>107709755
Pure genius.
>>
>>107709755
rationals are already really fast in software. if you constraint the denominator, all operations become int operations which hardware can already do. This is typically what you do to represent money, e.g : int / 100.

ieee754 is really good, but it has some weird features, like subnormals. it's also extremely non trivial to implement transcendental functions like sin, tan, log, atan etc.. because you either have to use higher precision or rely on weird tricks like IBM's math library does.

its over. the budget option is buying a old mobile workstation. ebay auctions for a precision 3561 with a 11th gen i5 and quadro t600 (~1650) are going at around $150. A newer 2070 system with a 10th gen cpu will cost you $300, a cunthair more or less. 4060's go around $500, and 4070's around $800. 8gb of vram is just something we'll have to deal with at the budget level for now. I cant tell you to spend over a thousand dollars on some shitty computer just for 12gb vram, but you arent assembling parts, even used parts. for these prices

Why are these things still made and used? Most phones don't include a slot for them, and they're the only device small (if modern phones can even be called that) enough to justify using them over a full size card. I know the Switch and Steam Deck use them, but those are also big enough that they surely could've made them with full-size cards in mind

I don't even use them with phones or digital cameras anymore.

I have several in use for flashcarts though, like my GBA.
A few for old computers, some as HDD replacements and others as secondary storage (PCMCIA CF to SD, parallel port SD adapter, etc).
Onboard memory for a few security cameras around the house.
Couple SBCs that aren't in use but ready with SD cards.
All my 3D printers use SD cards too.

Probably forgetting a few things.

>>
>>107710435
It's by design. The high end models now have enough storage to not need them. I think my s23 Ultra has 512gb of storage and I've been using it for years taking videos, pictures, downloading shit, installing things like godot and my repo etc. and I still think I've only used like half the storage or some shit.

You should split your time and do both. Low level understanding is invaluable, but it's also an endless quest. You'll never reach a point where you feel like you understand everything that makes your program work. The only way is to iteratively deepen your low-level understanding while also practicing your ability to actually ship stuff.

I was drunk at 3am and my computer speakers broke, so I bought this+2x50w bluetooth amplifier and power source thinking that I'm genius saving lots of money.

The issue is that I woke up and I have no idea what did i buy, is this just subwoofer and i need 2x 3way crossover+tweeter and midrange now?

Or is it actually what it says in first words and it is full range and i do not need to spend 3x more money now to make it work. I never made speakers before so I can not tell by just looking at them.

If you do not want to go to the link, the item does say "AIYIMA 2Pcs 2 Inch 4Ohm 5W hifi Full Range Speaker Mini Woofer Speakers Audio Subwoofer Loudspeaker Home Threater DIY"

If it is just subwoofer, do i need tweeter and 2 2 way crossovers (if i want to be cheap)

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32762083515.html
Now looking at the pc version of the webpage it does also say: With a standard mode sound mode and a two-way audio crossover, these speakers deliver a crisp and balanced sound across a wide range of frequencies

Not really clearing up anything for me.
I'll make the shell out of solid wood that is gonna be easy but I'm confused as to what do i need when it comes to components, thanks for helping me out.

It's true that high bit rate 1080p is plenty for video. I have a 4K 32" monitor and 1080p BR rips look great. Good 4K video is better obviously but I'll take good 1080p over bitstarved 4K.
>all movies are 1080p on blu ray
This isn't really true. 4K Blu-Rays have been around for nearly 10 years now.
>why should not i buy 27 inch 1080p
Because at typical monitor viewing distances and assuming typical eyesight, you'll see chunky pixels and text will look like shit.
If you're using it as a small budget TV from a further distance then whatever.
