Bros, I've been waiting for the pixel 11 pro release because I only buy 2nd gen hardware releases since I know the pixel 10 and n use the new custom soc from Google. I know the 11 is basically going to be a hella refined version of the 10 so it'll last a long ass time.Problem is, im a concerned about the dram shortage making these phones obscenely expensive beyond their 1k intro price (i always wait for them to drop 250$ midway through the year). My pixel 7 pro died and I ended up replacing it with with a refurb model but now I'm nervous and debating if I should just get the pixel 10 pro with some extended Google warranty. How badly do y'all think the dram shortage is going to fuck smartphones?Ended up buying an elitebook g11 for 500$ that has 32gb of ram to hold onto for the next 5 years as a good workhorse laptop because of all of the bullshit.

What's so special about Arch? Why does it get memed on so hard? People say it has bleeding edge packages but why is that so important? Is it better for gaming or something? What makes it different from Mint?
>>107716921Another thing people should do is create a text file, or even just a few pages in a physical notebook, and just write down their process for setting up their preferred system from scratch. That way if you need to set up a new one and you don't want to literally copy the whole filesystem over, along with all of that system's idiosyncrasies, you don't have to think about it or relearn everything. Then as >>107716901 said, for the system as it is in use there are all sorts of backup systems that let you restore your system instantly.>107716938If you do what I say here, you won't have any of these problems with arch. Also, very few arch users do those ricing things. Only teenagers do those.
>>107716930i haven't paid money for an nvidia product for years but it was just unending buggy bullshit to the point where i just used my mobo's intel IGP instead. other linuxfags i know say the sitch hasn't really improved.. supposedly it got better very recently cause of the (actual) open sourcing of some drivers though.but tbf intel arc is even worse and i still haven't fully forgiven the horrors of fglrx
>>they just DON'T understand... arch is superior... they STILL don't know how linux WORKS... im better than them... it's so minimal that i barely exist... im still better than them... why doesn't anyone see the SUPERIORITY of arch? if x worked I could show off my tilingWM and .conkyrc... then they'd see... im still better than them...

Why are these things still made and used? Most phones don't include a slot for them, and they're the only device small (if modern phones can even be called that) enough to justify using them over a full size card. I know the Switch and Steam Deck use them, but those are also big enough that they surely could've made them with full-size cards in mind
>>107713586>>The current state of the world is that MicroSD is considered normal and SD is considered a niche product, it should be the other way around>The world must adhere to my very specific autistic conception of how things should be rather than a multi-billion dollar flash memory industry with years of market research and R&D deigning to produce products which people should buy.I just think they're neat.
>>107709604I know the Samsung A25 phone has a microSD slot. You can put a 1tb card in there and fill it up with music and tv shows to watch on the train.
>>107709349Flashcarts? DAPs? Get your head out of your smartphone ass
>>107713315>Yeah, but my point is that there's no reason to make Micro cards if most devices using cards at all are gonna use full sizeIf you take apart a full size SD, you'll find not much more area than a MicroSD has, plus a bit for the larger pins, and the rest is a plastic slab.
>>107715504Touch controls blow for playing games that are meant for buttons and sticks, and I've yet to find a phone controller that doesn't suck and isn't awkward to hold. Most of them feel like playing on a Mad Catz controller, and either clip awkwardly on the sides of your phone or hold it up so it's topheavy in your hands.

So I just need to do basic tasks like listen to music, stream video, and browse basic websites. Is installing windows 2000 a bad idea? How fucked will I be for drivers? The reason I want to do this for one, it's botnet free, and two it was the most streamlined of classic operating systems. I really have a boner for Windows 2000 and I just want to know if it's even moderately viable to use in this day and age.

>>107705709What, like on modern hardware? You will almost certainly have no driver support whatsoever and I don't think Win 2000 even has a 64b version, which would mean you're going to be limited to <4GB usable RAM. That wouldn't be completely unusable for a modern browser, but it's tight, assuming you can even get a modern browser capable of displaying the modern web properly.

My PSU died recently after ~11 years, I thought it was a bit strange given that a Gold Seasonic PSU shouldn't crap out right after the warranty is up and the other older components are still fine, but since 11 years is a long time I let it goThen recently another PC in my building had a Gold Corsair PSU die after just 2 years, way before the warranty was up, I thought that was really strange, could it be that the fact my building started getting lots of power outages recently be wearing out these PSUs much faster than they'd usually last? Is a UPS the only way to get around it?

>>107714721>Your code is full of undefined behavior because you ignore these subtle details. If you use a moved object or a dangling reference, the program will crash. It's theoretically UB if you're autistic, but in reality it will always crash, there will be nothing undefined about it. You will investigate the crash dump, and you will fix the issue. After the issue is fixed, it will remain fixed forever. You don't need to invent a new language that fucks you in the ass and slows you down only to prevent some rare types of crashes while introducing other types of crashes. You architect your programs in a way that makes it impossible to leave dangling references or reuse moved objects. It's very easy to do, trillions of lines of C++ code will never have a chance to run into any value category issues.
