The wavebird battery used to last for like over a year of gameplay back in the 2000s so why do modern controllers run out of battery so fast? Is technology literally evolving backwards now? Lol.

it's unironically probably this, the og N64 Rumble Pak was notorious for chewing through batteries. also iirc the wavebird took four AAs, modern controllers use two

The old one probably has:
-8bit microcontroller (which have been around for a long time and optimized for low consumption, running at low speed)
-only a few buttons
-two joysticks with limited resolution
-proprietary radio protocol
-low refresh rate

The new ones certainly have:
-32bit microcontroller with a fancy OS to manage everything
-pressure sensitive switches
-high res joysticks
-touch things
-use standard bluetooth with all the accompanying bloat
-fast refresh rates
>>
>>107696726
This is a big part.
2 AA gets you about 5 Wh
A ps5 battery has 6.2 Wh
So the stupid thing has rumble, gyros, adaptive triggers, microphone, speaker, lights for some reason, and a touchpad but only 25% more battery capacity.

For those LOTR caps in particular, I guess if you're a super huge fan you might like them. They are from DROP and are always on sale, they made way too many sets with the release of rings of power, and they still have tons in stock from the first batch order. The show bombed because it was pozzed. I don't see what would stop anyone from using those caps as opposed to just collecting them. I don't know why anyone would collect any caps, maybe unintentionally by just hoarding old sets? I use full blanks on my entire board and have no problem doing anything, so those decorations shouldn't stop you either.

Everything in that picture is a drop advert. The lame ass tower with the stupid ass keycap, the garbage quality board, the faggoty coiled cable, the loq quality dogshit matt, and all the other decorative garbage there. Drop is where people go to mostly throw away money

do people really spend hundreds of dollars to buy poly bushings and butane torch/hydraulic press the old functional ones off their subframe just for a stiffer subjective "feel"? The answer is yes. This is a hobby like any other. Doing it yourself is part of the process for the feeling of tinkering and ownership. Really not that different from cars which I also deal with, or other hobbies you may be familiar with.
>>
Anyone have any suggestions for a decent quality keyboard like this?:

>North facing RGB
>Hot swappable switches
>Preferably not wireless
>>

Koreans are obsessed with TKLs.

In my experience all(?) VR games work fine on Linux as long as you can get your headset to work at all.

The were supposed to give us the deckard, not just this meta quest knockoff.
Its 2025-6 and we're relying on fucking Pimax to give us high end consumer VR. And that involves buying a headset and hoping you win the QA lottery that it actually works as promised.

Name one desktop or laptop being sold with one of those in.
If it's not deployed in enough numbers already, it's not going to make it in a year, especially when many people are feeling short for cash. People will hold onto their old systems for longer instead.

Static recompilation is generally impossible. Compilation throws away too much information. To produce a correct disassembly with all code and data sections fully identified, and all fixups properly resolved is the kind of thing that can only be achieved with very strong AI, probably approaching AGI.

thanks for making these posts. On my phone right now, but I'll set up a proper repo later today or tomorrow. I've implemented a lot of new features, including
- Thumbnails downloaded asynchronously and cached on disk (which also means there's no special setup required anymore)
- Improved refresh function
- Download button that saves files to a specified download directory, sorted by board
- No elisp: links anymore, so you can re-enable the elisp execution warning without having to confirm everytime you click a cross-thread link

>I should go with default keybindings for most of the them I think
If you prefer modal editing, you could check out one of the packages that vibe well with emacs' default bindings, like meow or hel. I wish Emacs came with a well-configured version of one of these by default. It does come with a vi emulator (viper) but I don't like it.
I typically use Doom Emacs with evil.

I'm impressed with it. I have it setup so it shares my characters thoughts while I game and right now im looting a shipwreck and she's talking about it in game. grabbed a book on using daedric magic to enhance my weapons and she made mention in her thoughts to look into it after looting this shipwreck. its pretty neat and adds a decent amount to the game and with being able to talk to the enemies and npc. mostly I enjoy how it narrates thoughts and tihngs going on in the world.
