Problems with Zig:

* The language and its standard library are unstable (change a lot)
* The compiler is unstable (will compile your code incorrectly, and you will find it difficult to impossible find such mistakes, depending on how well you know Assembly)
* Comptime arguments are basically equivalent to template arguments in C++ (Might as well use C++. It's uglier, but semantically similar)
* Zig is not actually memory-safe, even though it claims/implies that it is. Debug builds are about as safe as C/C++ built with memory sanitizers.
* Slow compile times (compared to C)

The good:

* It doesn't try to "gotcha" you as much when it comes to UB.
* More type system info about slices and pointer types. Not sure it's worth it.

1.It is not C#
2.It is not C#
3.(You) guessed it: Zig’s vaunted minimalism often collapses into semantic asceticism, where its comptime machinery and allocator‑centric memory model create a high‑friction cognitive load that undermines the language’s promise of transparent, deterministic control.

why are so many programming "help" groups like this? like, somebody will specifically opt into helping people, and then get frustrated when they dont do exactly what they expect. it constantly feels like im testing everyone's patience whenever i ask for help and its even harder trying to just learn everything myself, especially considering all the weird semantic differences in both the language itself and guides.

like i can imagine a full script in my head but i wouldnt know how to translate it into the language im currently using. and on the offchance that i *do* get the help needed, usually its just "oh just use the blah function", so its not like i just Dont Know How To Code or anything i just dont know the shit thats specific to the engine, and its not like i can just look it up in a glossary or something because the words can be totally different from language to language, like how "object" in one language can be "entity" in another, and object in *that* language refers to an object in an array or something, so theres just a huge language gap that i cant really cross without the help of others, which sucks because working with others sucks

OK, I got 4.7 working on my new setup but it's kinda slow (3.5 T/s) but holy fuck! Coming from nemo and mistral small, it's like a another world.

Is there anyway to limit the amount of reasoning it does in sillytavern? Do I need it at all if I'm mainly using it for RP or will it drop the quality significantly?

It's officially Christmas in the UTC+14 time zone, which means it's Christmas somewhere, which means you can start posting your Secret Santa bots if they're ready.
You still have a long time to post them (50 hours until it's the 26th in the UTC-12 time zone, but grinch allegations won't be levied until New Year's) so don't feel too rushed.

Some femboy anon posted a thread here last night talking about how tired he was of using windows 11 and linux mint wasnt working for him so he ended up swapping to windows 7.

I didn't get to ask all the questions I wanted cause he disappeared and then the thread got deleted so I'll ask them here.

1. I only have one of those shitty external optical drives since pc company's stopped being cool and removed them, that should work fine if i have the windows 7 ultimate dvd?

2.When updating drivers they all say they wont be compatible, will it just be fine to download them and use them? if not where do I go for stuff like nvidia, amd, and other drivers I need?

3. apps like steam and others that say they don't work on windows 7, how do I get them to work? i'm a bit confused on everything.

I probably have a few more questions but I can't think of them right now and I have to get to work so I'll only be able to check this thread every now and then, thanks for any of the help

Just download the iso off the internet. You can optionally make sure that it has not been tampered with by verifying the hashes. You can get the ISO from many websites, like this one, for example.
https://os.click
for drivers, you can just download them from vendor's website and even pre-include them in your iso with ntlite. for system updates, just use simplix updatepack. As for Steam, many anon's figured out workarounds to play the games anyway (you will need to look on desuarchives or somewhere on the internet, can't remember it at the moment, because I dont really use steam) , but honestly if you do not want to get kiked, you should rather pirate them. If you have more questions, just ask them, I am more than happy to help our fellow 7GOD avoid updooting to worse windows version (or even worse, becoming a linux tranny).
>>
i also had problems with linux mint, it didnt recognize my monitor. but it did work with bazzite so maybe try that. its a linux distro intended for gaming, be careful however it might break your windows installation

security updates don't matter if you are not retarded. Your computer is by default protected with your ISPs router, as it sits behind NAT with non-routable addresses. The rest is just the matter of not downloading malicious executables like a retard (same as on nuwindows). Muh exploits for browsers, image viewers etc. don't matter as well unless you are targeted by someone who is smart enough to actually utilize them in practice (90% of pajeet and russian hackers are too dumb for that). Put a dozen of rusty razors in your anus and sit down on your pink gaming chair, obsessed linux tranny.

Others distro let you do that too, with more architecture options. Arch users act like it is something special or advanced. Its repo sucks, freeloading everything to the AUR. Minimal images are a thing in other distros as well.

arch repos are fine and its not trying to be special its very simple and it does what it does perfectly, every other distro has its pros and cons but arch is the easiest simplest distro with no frills. there is nothing wrong with the aur you can audit anything you install and you have access to literally any software you could possibly want, look at a distro like void linux which has "good repos" it has barely any packages and all the user alternatives are barely maintained. really arch is the distro for people who respect their time

I have a 10 years old dual boot machine on a single HDD that originally had a 100MB winblows EFI partition with the OS partition right after it, I chopped the latter in half because it turned out to be largely useless and moved the partition with Linux backwards, I deleted the Windows recovery partition and moved the EFI one backwards as well, neither OS was reinstalled, you can do whatever the fuck if your IQ is above 100.
