I was going to gift myself a GPD Pocket 4. I've wanted one for like 8 months, but then the prices rose when I went to go buy it two days ago, so I'm not even interested anymore. Now I want nothing for Christmas and don't care anymore. Fuck it.

I once tried to learn C++ but so many things just sucked:The syntax, headder files, 1000 ways to do the same thing, the ((meta-)meta-) "build" system(s) and overall the feeling of the language:It is like someone had continuously updated his hobby project without concerning other users.I want to learn a modern language instead and chose Zig out of Rust or Zig as Rust seemed gay-coded to me.Is it a good decision to learn Zig? Will Zig stay?

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine. Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

Hello everyone, I have an old desktop PC sitting right there doing nothing. I'm trying to give it a reason to exist and evaluating the idea to install Windows 7 on it.So, can you use Windows 7 in these days? How much do you have to debloat it and uninstall things? And, more important, there's a way to not have it becoming a SECURITY NIGHTMARE?
>>107654472>developers are scummy because they limit their support scopelol, lmao even
>>107652357Not even sure it’s people who have had a computer with 7 laying around. There’s something to be said about the amount of zoomers that idealize the ‘old internet’, and when you combine that with an awareness that current windows is spyware, and throw fear of the unknown (linux) in the mix, you get zoomers that think the way to be secure is to install 7 or XP, and duct tape in a shitty firewall and chromium browser like that’s somehow gonna protect them from zero-click RCE exploits. They’ll shit all over FOSS devs and call them trannies from their FOSS browser because that’s the only thing that supports their decrepit and security hole-ridden OS, and they’re doing it all out of a perversion of what the internet once was, even though they never lived it. If they actually had they would have long moved on to BSD or debian by now.
>>107654531>uhmm sweetie, le evil russian hackerinos will hack you because... because I said so, okay? Just pretend that NAT doesn't exist and updoot to new, worse software like wangblows 11 or troonix.
>>107647565I’m debating doing the same thing with my 2011 i7-2600k PC. It wouldn’t be going online much and run my old CS6 suite that I have a perpetual license for. Running Windows 7 in 2025 as a daily driver online is pretty silly. Why are you trying to autistically swim up a waterfall? Can you not just use Linux Mint or get a MacBook Air if you’re so concerned about security?

I also run home automation, password manager, email server, stuff like that. I resist the urge to sign up to more and more cloud and internet services.Even the simple NAS that are just a small box you put HDDs can run a bunch of stuff.
>>107654404I always found home automation to be a meme.Like, I purposely avoid buying smart things, so I just never found the appeal of home automation.Same with password managers. At most I only sync things to my devices, I never run a password manager server, in case my server goes down I at least don't have to rely on it to get my passwords.

I've paid for a podcast service, and I want to automate the download of a very specific stream. Apparently the links are generated on demand, so I have to use the browser, manually click a few buttons then I can finally get a link. What's the best way to automate this process? I'm using Fedora and Firefox if that helps.
