Here's what my UI looks like in use. Mostly doing weird shit just to see what happens and understand how things work.
>>
>>107853593
Using the thread as a tech blog is fine, or at least it would be if we could at least play with it ourselves.

>>107853575
You could always upload it with the issue tracker disabled so you don't have entitled retards demanding features and fixes from you.
People would be better able to give you feedback and ideas if they were able to try it for themselves.
>>
>>107853690
They would ask ITT though that'd be so annoying, little locusts can't help themselves, can't just help build saas for free and stfu sm head
>>
Man, this translator I was relying to translate a novel since before the AI stuff had the last chapter paywalled for over a year. And when he was still actively releasing free chapters, he was demanding $1/chapter. When someone commented that to read the rest of the novel (at the time) it would cost $500, he said he thought it was what his time was worth, and if he didn't like it he could just go read mtl.

Luckily it wasn't ko. AI works pretty well with jp and zh work now. <- this refers to local models, so it is on-topic.

I recently took a look at his site and realised a couple of hundred previously free chapters are now locked.

Ok it's already too late for ram and GPUs.. what else should I buy before the price of literally everything goes up? What's next on the chopping block??

3.5" high capacity server drives
it will be a bloodbath worse than SSDs
>>
>>107851842
You're late to the game. Used ones have just about doubled in price already. I really would have liked to have gotten another 12TB drive as a spare, too, but I'm not doing it now.
>>
>>107851160
here the gpu market got totally fucked after the pandemic, it never recovered.
>>
Hard drives, as high capacity as you can get. Buy multiple of the same ones for mirroring. I just got another 2x4tb today. I'll feed them to my z440 which will be my homelab/storage for the next 10yrs (it's already almost 10 yrs old).
>>
>>107853781
This.
Went out last weekend and got 3x 1tb nvme drives and 4x 1tb sata ssd's. Price went up on all of them within a few days.

>"I have chosen not to use Microsoft Copilot Premium because, in practice, it does not meet my expectations for capability, flexibility, or overall quality for the type of technical and analytical work I perform. While Copilot’s tight integration with the Microsoft ecosystem may sound appealing at a high level, it creates a significant limitation in real-world use. Copilot is effectively locked into Microsoft’s tooling, and Microsoft places strict limits on third-party integrations. As a result, workflows that rely on best-in-class external tools or modern AI-integrated platforms cannot leverage Copilot, forcing users toward Microsoft-branded replacements that are often less mature, less feature-rich, and more constrained. From my experience, Copilot consistently feels like a watered-down implementation rather than a leading AI platform, and it does not keep pace with broader innovation occurring in the AI space. This materially reduces its usefulness and makes it difficult to justify incorporating it into my daily workflow.

>In addition, I have serious concerns around privacy, trust, and psychological safety when using a company-managed AI system. Effective use of AI requires candid exploration, incomplete ideas, and unfiltered thinking that are not representative of final work products. When AI usage is managed by the organization and chat logs may be retained or reviewed, it creates a barrier to using the tool openly and effectively. I believe my work should be evaluated on outcomes and delivered results, not on intermediate thought processes or experimental dialogue used to arrive there. Knowing that internal AI interactions could be visible discourages full utilization and introduces unnecessary risk and self-censorship. For these reasons, I strongly prefer not to use Copilot in its current form, as it limits both productivity and the freedom required to use AI as an effective problem-solving tool."

You could just not use snaps
>>
>>107853073
I know, but it's more the fact that Ubuntu ships with snaps, and they suck, and I don't want to use a distro that uses trash stuff by default.
>>
>>107852834
You have just as much ability to use flatpak or repo packages for gaming stuff on Ubuntu as you do on any other distro.
So gaming works just as well on Ubuntu as any other distro.

Why did youngsters decide to ditch this website all of a sudden? It used to be THE social media website for the longest time but almost exclusively used by boomers these days.

Many things honestly
>You can get banned easily, and the bans last long
>Its a boring social media site
>Relentless AI stuff spam
>Feed changes when it refreshes, so you lose whatever thing you were watching
>Annoying ads
>It took em a while to add 2fa
>They got caught selling your data multiple times
>Their marketplace/dating center is full of retards and scammers
>Bloat in both messenger and facebook app
Younger people only keep facebook from the old
days, only to occasionally stalk on their friends and exes that they are not in touch anymore, and to speak to their boomer relatives. Only 40+ people are active users. The rest have moved on.
>>
>>107853527
And last but not least
>Kept asking for ID or to videocapture your face in order to verify your account way before ukstan started messing around with online censorship laws
>Contacting meta for help is useless as fuck
>>
Social media was fun because I could keep up to date with my friends. Now my feed is algoslop because people stopped posting because now their feed is algoslop.
The only people left using Facebook are 40+ year olds commenting on ragebait and AI trash
>>
>>107853779
freaky to think how little human-human engagement there is on the internet these days.
>>
>>107853779
I don't know how much of my nostalgia is tainted with childhood memories but I remember being a kid on Facebook and my friends would just post random stuff and their thoughts. That's all my feed ever was. Sometimes there would be pictures and maybe an announcement from a band or two but ragebait didn't exist and nobody was posting for attention or to try and grow a following.

Windows. Whatever troonery is supposed to be you'll never escape it in open source software since it seems that all developers are either trannies, schizos or both. My advice is that you should grow up and stop crying about imagined culture wars and just use a distro that works for you.

Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

My z440 has been good to me the last 5 years. How long do you think it can realistically be a decent server? Mainly use it for storage, archive, backup, Media streaming, playing around with OSes and learning kubernetes.

Other than for storing videos and photos taken with your phone, is there a reason to even need more than 256GB on a phone? People with more than 256GB, what do you use your extra capacity for not including the videos and photos you take with it?

I film a lot of local rallies (as in rally racing) and take hundreds of pictures during a weekend during that. Especially filming in 4k/60fps/hdr takes up tons of space.
Plus the 200+ gb of music I have on my phone.
So yeah, I need A LOT more than that.
My S25 Ultra has 1tb in it and I constantly reach the point where I have to transfer stuff to my drives at home and delete stuff to not run out of space.

Even decades later those damn office comics couldn't ring any truer. RIP Scott thanks for being useful! (That was his thing... like Red Green and being Handy.)

Don't buy anything OTHER THAN IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and W/P Series if you want the Real Business Experience™

Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap
>Excellent keyboards, tactile feel and quiet + the TrackPoint

>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop

I have the actual genuine keyboard this is based on that includes the win key instead of the other one that doesnt have it and comes with the ibm logo
I dont really use it much and it feels lighter than the keyboard on the x220 and also a specific combination of win + shift + right seems to not work while all 3 of those keys individually work fine
I'm curious if the tex shinobi feels better than the genuine lenovo one or not. I heard that middle button where mousewheel up/down is supposed to be doesnt actually work properly as a mousewheel like the regular thinkpad keyboard would
>>107827945
Honestly if i wanted a numpad i would just get a separate standalone one that can be placed like on the other side of the mouse and mousepad instead of increasing the distance between the kb and mouse
>using an external usb mouse instead of the one built in to the keyboard
Idk i use both the kb mouse and a regular usb mouse depending on my mood

I guess I figured maybe I'd want to keep the disc drive. I still do use it, but really only occasionally. I actually do have some 2.5" HDDs lying around, but I take this laptop everywhere and I'm afraid of the HDD dying on me.

Also are there any cool expresscard accessories for a T430? I don't need any more USB ports

My t480 shuts down after the first battery depletes and only switches to the second battery after i turn it back on. is this because im using cheap chinese replacement batteries?

ill admit that dlaa with dlss 4.5 looks very nice on elden ring.
>>
>>107852757
Why are we going backwards with resolutions and frame rates? I was playing Unreal Tournament at 1600x1200 with 4xAA at like 200 fps back in 2002. If someone had told me that 20 years in the future games would struggle to reach 60 fps at 1920x1080 and that everyone would be using technology to fake upscale everything, I would've thought they were pranking me.
>>
That's nowhere near enough. I want more fake pixels and frames.
>>
>>107853332
Cool, that's all I want. I wish DLSS development went more towards upscaling in a more adaptive manner, so it could be used on emulators and the like instead of pushing fake frames.
