>Microsoft plans to eliminate every line of C and C++ from the company by 2030.
>Microsoft plans to translate the largest C and C++ systems to Rust.

The rise of Rust and the downward trend of code quality are directly correlated. As populations become less intelligent, they rely more on the crutches built by previous generations. Using Rust is basically admitting that you are incapable of writing memory safe code without a crutch.

That's about the worst use for Indians because debugging requires deep understanding, which is their weakest point. That doesn't mean Microsoft won't try. They have the MBAbro fever for replacing all skilled labor with the cheapest cargo cult faux labor they can find.

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

no idea about both bare metal and docker at the same time, though I do know that nvidia places arbitrary limits on the number of simultaneous transcoding that can be done on consumer cards.

not quite, that's cidr notation to indicate prefix length. it's not a subnet but can be used as notation to indicate the subnet size and starting address by prefix. it can also be used to indicate supernets and general prefix length.

Anon, the point is that we could be doing great things with our computers and leveraging their RAM to achieve mindblowing things if the software were properly optimised; instead, I had to buy 32GB of RAM to do what 16GB used to, and I had bought 16GB to do what 8GB used to, et cetera. If my use case does not change, why must my hardware?

Hello everyone, I have an old desktop PC sitting right there doing nothing. I'm trying to give it a reason to exist and evaluating the idea to install Windows 7 on it.
So, can you use Windows 7 in these days? How much do you have to debloat it and uninstall things? And, more important, there's a way to not have it becoming a SECURITY NIGHTMARE?
94 replies and 14 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107655924
Not how this works. Actual security researchers publish findings of vulnerabilities in windows. Unless you show a device coming up as clean against established proof-of-concept attacks or a vulnerability scanner, all you’re doing is shilling for an OS that is already proven insecure.
>>
>>107657202
>Your problem is to get over the compatibility issues as you have to use old versions of many programs

>Mainly due to dependency injection.
Yeah, I agree, that's usually the case. A lot of projects fuck it up and over-complicate everything. That's partially the problem here, but it goes beyond that.
>>
>>107657465

What is the alternative to DI? I haven't found a better solution anywhere else, only more tangled complication. These days in the C# world you simply declare all of your dependencies in one class, their lifetime/scope, and put them in the container. Call them as you need them. Done.

No more insane inheritance webs or factory patterns or all that shit. With the way C# has simplified the overarching structure I think a lot of other conventions are now redundant as well.
>>
>>107657647
The alternatives are making all of your services static classes, or instantiating them yourself when you need them. Both of those fuck up test-ability though if you want to test with mocks.
In Ruby, none of this is needed because you can always overwrite any method with a mock implementation, on an instance or the whole class, at any time.
If you just don't write any tests, then you don't need DI.

I got this kit for dirt cheap (comparatively) and so it is actually an intel kit and the stock AMD timings were dogshit (3000Mhz CL38-38-38-78), so I manually tuned it on first boot and spent the last few days making sure it was stable before enabling memory context restore and power down enable in my BIOS and calling it stable (where I am today).

I got 70.5ns latency in AIDA64 with a VPN going, Deluge going, 16 tabs of edge browser, discord, and steam all running in the background.

So i'm probably doing pretty good overall compared to stock, but I wont be winning benchmarks.
