Relative of mine has a yoga 370 with 16gb or ram and a 500gb ssd and an i7 7600u, whats a fair price to give to them? i was thinking 100$ or am i ripping em off, its a computer they got for free from work that they never used so its just been sitting for 2-3 years now, the battery health is at 75% so ill probably replace that, also any recs on Linux distros that work well with 2-in-1 laptops? this is a usecase for GNOME i assume
>>107884136That's a fair price I think.KDE can do touch/pen input and screen rotation now I think. Kubuntu and call it a day. Debian is usually fine too with testing or Sid repos. If you hate yourself and wear programming socks go ahead and install Arch.

Very cheap sale on these linears from Deskhero (Canadian vendor)https://www.deskhero.ca/products/mauve-linear-switchI happen to have some that I got as "mystery switches" from Cannonkeys and they seem perfectly fine. Can't detect any spring ping, pretty smooth, not a lot of wobble. Seems like an acceptable switch, and it's priced cheaper than dirt cheap Gaterons. (Probably not cheaper after shipping, however.)They do take well to filming (like the listing says), I just tried putting a film in one and it felt snug but not overly snug when I closed the housing. I don't know if it will make a difference to sound because I haven't actually tried putting these in a keyboard (I don't do linears), but it should be an improvement.
>>107884460just get HMX
>>107884460Little less than 20 syrupcents per switch, nice.
Are split keyboards a meme? I kinda want to get one but I'm realizing I basically just use a normal kb in a pretty ergonomical position to begin with... like people pretend you have your shoulders tucked in and your arms making this tiny perpendicular gap but really who types like that

At this point I think the newer models are smart enough that if you ran like 100 thousand instances of them for long enough you could achieve AGI in a year or so.They're not even more intelligent than a junior engineer, but the issue is that the average person can do very little real intellectual work over the course of a lifetime. LLMs are like if you took an immortal halfwit and forced it to take Adderall until it wrote you Shakespeare. I guess it's happening just like AI 2027 lol. >>107882318>I’ve learned that 99% of the world shouldn’t even be allowedNah, no need to gatekeep it.99% of people have no reason to be doing so, and have no interest in computers to begin with. They only use them because at this point they've been shoehorned into every corner of society, and are a vector for profiteering so they get pushed and addictive but meaningless usecases are invented for that purpose.Remove the "digital lifestyle" cancer afflicting society and 99% of people will no longer use computers. Society in general will improve as a knock-on effect. And best of all, this doesn't have to happen by some retarded bureaucratic enforcement mechanism trying to control computers and access to them which is a disaster waiting to happen. Just stop subsidizing big tech, nuke the corporations whose entire market model panders to retards who don't give a shit about computers.
