most sci-fi books and entertainment show future as a bustling mega cities of people working , living and going on their days like it's 20th century.

But why would we live in dense large cities when there'll be no need for office space, hotels for business travelers and restaurants to please workers.

Won't future just be villas and resorts of rich people being served by robots and leading hedonistic lifestyle after culling majority of humanity via a virus made by their god like AI.

There won't be a need for pilots , engineers , programmers or soldiers when it can all be automated the future will probably just end up with us living hedonistic lifestyles while robots do work.

Did Lil Peep predict enshitification? The declining quality of software has made it significantly easier to adjust to doing things in real life again (being “in the zone” if you will). I find myself using the internet substantially less nowadays, only really using it to study, the funny thing is that it used to be difficult to find like minded people in the past who I could connect with over my shared love of technology, the internet, PC’s, etc. Now it’s the complete opposite, it’s almost impossible to find someone who isn’t terminally online and willing to do things without trying to turn them into a social media post or TikTok video, I wish I was joking.

Hi, I've been trying to host and publish my own chan/imageboard since I'm currently short on money. I'm trying to find a free way to do this and I found Vercel. Is it a good option for an imageboard?

That bad? I don't know.
I just wanted a linux PC with my ssh keys in it, exposed to the web, as cheap as possible. No ifs and buts.
It's been a good while since I last researched but Vercel had plenty of gotchas iirc.
Hetzner, as plain as it gets. Pay money, get a vps. I have full control over my machine, what runs in it, port allocation etc.
I got a wildcard cert and wildcard dns which lets me handle subdomains on the VPS with nginx without broadcasting what I exactly have to the world to see (see cert. transparency logs).
Only "issue" I had was that I was also self-hosting my dns with, UDP, DoH, DoT and DoQ. Turns out bots ended up discovering port 53 plain UDP DNS and used my vps for a reflection attack which then, prompted the german government to mail hetzner, causing them to forward their mail, essentially saying "deal with it". Fair enough, ended up learning wtf a reflection attack is and just firewalled port 53 since I wasn't using plain dns anyway.
>>
oh, also I forgot adding this but since you're going for an image board, you may want to look for bullet-proof hosts.
It won't be cheap but it's either that or you gotta have a tight moderation for acceptable use policies for whatever host you're using

>>Python with pointers
That's more like Lisp or Algol 68, and Python is like a combination of those languages. C doesn't even have arrays or strings, but array slicing is a fundamental feature of Python. Python is also object-oriented with metaobjects like Lisp.
>>
>>107891323
Why?
>>
>>107891400
somehow this is not an issue for all the 10 gorillion lines of windows source code that use the same conventions so I think it's gonna be fine

>pascal shoul have won
Standard Pascal didn't deserve to win that. Some of the vendor extensions were better.
The biggest advantage of C was that it supported handling much more data at once with much larger programs. The siren call of "you can stop doing really annoying workarounds for dumb language limitations" was very hard to ignore.
I liked Turbo Pascal, but I don't regret switching to C on Linux.

It seems is becoming a global mandate of the global south and poor nations to move away from windows spyware in windows to their own linux native solutions.

Funny how forcing poor nations to move to expensive computers actually forces the global south to linux.

Old PCs are from 2012 iirc. They came with Win7. But whoever worked before me there didn't take into consideration that upgrading to 10 on 4GB RAM is retardation. I specifically made instructions how to utilize console to use .NET to create WPF apps so they could at least write them in VSC or Notepadd++ without GUI designer since running bloated cow like Visual Studio on 4RAM running Win10 is hell.
Only in recent years there was effort put to obtain new PCs in batches, and government decided to make countrywide program of upgrading PCs at schools like year ago. They decided to upgrade everything to i3 standards so we'll see how it runs. While Visual Studio might, I have no idea if other teacher will be saatisfied with his Android Studio crap. But he has better PCs anyway.
Older PCs that came with XP are now used on another subject to teach formatting drives, installing systems, assembling PCs, and when they die due to old age or students fucking around, they are used for soldering lessons where you replace ports and components.

>>107894938
Just regular polish highschool.
Exam requires you to write console application with focus on either algorythms and problem solving, or OOP. Simple shit like dice game, some well-established algorythms, sorting, searching, classes and objects with constructors, methods static fields etc.
Then you have randomly either GUI application, usually WPF, mobile app on android or web app in React/Andular. This usually focuses on utilizing GUI for some easy stuff like registration forms, reading/writing files, filtering pics in galleries etc.
Last part is docummentation which is basically writing short description of function or class you've written in previous parts. Just name, input, output, involved types and what does it do.
It's not that complicated, especially that you have to make sure even worse students fit within 2.5 hours exam takes.

but for that i will need to use a different computer, the ghetto opiplex i am using for this can barely support one gpu

Does anybody know what the hell happened to the Funtoo project and what Daniel Robbins is up to nowadays? I heard the OG Gentoo project was taken over after he left to wageslave a while and make ends meet but that he couldn't retake its reins once he did try to come back, then coming up with the Funtoo project, which died a few years ago, but the page (https://www.funtoo.org/) was updated recently and I haven't seen anyone comment on it. Is anyone out there in the know of whatever it is that they're brewing?

>>
>>107892690
I'm not exactly sure what happened but he announced the end of Funtoo late last year. My guess is he saw the current state of linux and the fact that most of the modern users aren't interested in the wolfpack philosophy and got sick on the lack of help and spending more time hacking around IBM's spyware than doing interesting fun stuff.
>>
>A new evolution of Funtoo's core ideas is being built from the ground up, unencumbered by legacy toolchains, with a target for an initial public release in early 2026.
Slopcoded distro confirmed.
>>
>>107894991
They are obviously talking about finally eliminating the python dependency required by portage (and hopefully bash too).

The Funtoo project is probably not possible to maintain anymore due to the fact that Gentoo has been screwed up so badly by the Google employees currently ruining it. The new EAPI specs are terrible. Along with the various retarded changes over the past 4-5 years. Like what they've done to the kernel and OpenRC along with the whole every package now making a user account thing.

yeah, and because it's an old domain with strong SEO ranking, and dofollow on its links, it's getting hit by SEO spammers using AI slop to give link juice to their blog
this is despite the ToS prohibiting commercial use
and despite the "AI" features mentioned in the blog, apparently there's not yet autodetection of this spam
which wouldn't be such a problem except that the only way to find new threads is to browse the new threads and see all of it. and there's so much trash it's a chore to use. and you there's no button to exclude the communities you don't like.
