Cloud computing is obviously the endgame. Why sell hardware directly to consumers when you can make them pay for it for the rest of their lives?

Nvidia and everybody else is using 99% of their compute power for AI shit already, they wouldn't be able or willing to divert any of that into cloud services. People will just stop being able to play new games, period.
I hope that means the gaming industry collapses as a result, it's been in dire need of a fresh start since forever.

Depends. The main competitor is going to be used enterprice mini-PCs. The raspberry pie will probably be cheaper, probably not by much depending on how cheap you can find a good used deal and how expensive raspberry pies are where you live.
HOWEVER the raspberry pi will use a lot less power, since newer processors are more efficient than old ones and ARM ones are still more efficient than x86. If you're building a low performance, low capacity NAS without big requirements, and you're in Europe or somewhere where electricity costs a lot, then it might be worthwhile.
