>The development comes a little over a year after the tech giant [Google] disclosed that its transition to Rust led to a decline in memory safety vulnerabilities from 223 in 2019 to less than 50 in 2024.

>The company pointed out that Rust code requires fewer revisions, necessitating about 20% fewer revisions than their C++ counterparts, and has contributed to a decreased rollback rate, thereby improving overall development throughput.

>We adopted Rust for its security and are seeing a 1000x reduction in memory safety vulnerability density compared to Android's C and C++ code. But the biggest surprise was Rust's impact on software delivery," Google's Jeff Vander Stoep said. "With Rust changes having a 4x lower rollback rate and spending 25% less time in code review, the safer path is now also the faster one

>With roughly 5 million lines of Rust in the Android platform and one potential memory safety vulnerability found (and fixed pre-release), our estimated vulnerability density for Rust is 0.2 vuln per 1 million lines (MLOC).

>Our historical data for C and C++ shows a density of closer to 1,000 memory safety vulnerabilities per MLOC. Our Rust code is currently tracking at a density orders of magnitude lower: a more than 1000x reduction.

Are people at Microsoft even aware that they just killed themselves with one simple move where people actively downgrade or switch to other OS just to NOT be at Win11? They think they hold monopoly or what?

But I will, whatcha gonna do about it? Win 10 at least can be lobotomized so it works normally, but windows 11 is too irredeemable for it. And once enough people leave (and they will!) the games and other shit will be made for more widespread OS. People make software for Windows because it's the default option, and windows put a lot of effort to make it NOT to be the case in near future

How come older versions of windows on older hardware with weaker specs run faster? We use windows 7 on old computers at work (private intranet, they run soft PLCs that don't work on newer versions of windows) and it's blazing fast compared to windows 11.

I had to install openSUSE TW twice because I didn't notice the first time around there's this new bootloader by default that's just grub but shittier apparently. It displays all my snapshots on the same menu as the main entry for my current kernel, it doesn't support probing for different OSes and the best of all, it doesn't respect any changes I do on YaST bootloader, maybe because it's deprecated? It adds no arguments. And switching back to normal grub on efi is a pain in the ass. What's up with these changes? By default! Why? Didn't the old thing work fine? Why new thing?

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/12/drone-first-responder-programs-2025-review

>Drone as first responder (DFR) adoption really took off in 2025. Though the concept has been around since 2018, this year saw more normalization of the technology, its integration into more real-time crime center structures, and the implementation of automated deployment of drones.

>A DFR program features a fleet of camera-equipped drones, which can range from just a couple to dozens or more. These are deployed from a launch pad in response to 911 calls and other calls for service, sometimes operated by a drone pilot or, increasingly, autonomously directed to the call location. The appeal is the promise of increased “situational awareness” for officers headed to a call. This video offers a short explanation of DFR, and for a list of all of the cities we know use drones, including DFR programs, check out EFF’s Atlas of Surveillance.

>Have you ever considered bringing this up on /k/?
I have browsed /k/ and the noise level is too high for me.
>Problem is that the F35 is such a hotbutton topic its hard to tell who is shilling who.
True. There is so much money in that project and so much financial engineering that the project simply cannot be killed. A lot of the things developed for F-35 could have been tested and even back ported to F-16, F-15 and F-18 which would have reduced risks and costs a lot by parallel and incremental development, but they never did that.
>>
>>107703210
Oh, and one more thing: the F-47 project is a last gasp of insanity in a world where the war in Ukraine has shown that drones is where it is at. A missile can pull 30 G in a turn, a pilot would be mush in boots, assuming the wings are not ripped off.

Alright /g/, with Raven Ridge coming, let's discuss Integrated Graphics / APU's.

Why are they so reliable /g/? We constantly hear about dedicated GPU's shitting the bed, specially on laptops, but how come we never hear about integrated graphics failing? Are they built like a tank?

Iris Pro is a few years behind in performance, but look at the size of this thing, it's fucking tiny, it's pretty impressive actually. Do you think Raven Ridge will also be reliable? Do you think it will outperform Iris Pro?
>>
>>107703693
Because if your Integrated died, you would think your CPU has died completely, that's why there are no reports of it. Though it's a nice to have if your cpu has.

>>107703693

Isn't raven ridge the old apu?
I have an 8700G and its all I need for any sort of gaming at 1440p/60hz and 60fps. I'm running it on a passively cooled system even.
I'm not sure if I'd say they're built like a tank, its more that they have massive thermal headroom compared to what people have become accustomed to. When I had the 5800G, it sat at 85C for hours. Still works fine, just have it in the basement PC now.
>>
>>107703693

I haven't. And my GPUs never died and I bought 2 after mining shenanigans.

it copuld be the fact that dust can't kill a igpu as it doesnt have any exposed parts

the dGPU has exposed parts and if dust get in there in can short over time.

I've been using LG C2 Evo for 3 years, every day for 8hrs+ and it's still absolutely perfect. No dimming, no dead pixels, no issues of any kind.
It's a god-tier screen. Everything else looks like shit. I've also had a pleasure to check out my friend's C5 and I couldn't tell much difference when using it as a monitor.

I couldn't see myself ever using:
