this exact 6TB WD elements is the best deal i can get at $30/TB vs $39/TB for 4TB or worse for smaller ones
Can i just crack this open and take out the bare HDD or will it not work because of different pinout of power connector?

Our shoe lickers would never do that.
They never do anything.
Not even politics in their own country.
They do what everyone else who can does.
Sit around, collect money for nothing. Since they get away with it, they don't do anything else.
That's why they will fulfill every US demand; anything else would be work.

Wanna bet? USA will get greenland.

I browse with 4g.el but it's not possible to post from it yet. Not sure you could do a captcha from inside emacs. Whatever's implemented would also need to be constantly updated to keepup with captcha changes and shit, probably copy chance mechanisms but I'm sure it would require javascript.

Third world shithole laws give me vacations that use up both work and non-work days.
Can be split into three with some limits.
Company has some personal days.
Made a genetic optimization script in guile to find out good schedules, seems to be working, but converges too rapidly.
With our rules there isn't some magical solution that will allow me 90 days of rest but heh, I'll find ways of increasing diversity, maybe I can get 41 or 42 days instead of just 30.

What the title says. I've been fapping to stories set in the near future involving sexbots for years, and yet it feels like they're just as far away now as they were decades ago. I know life sized realistic sex dolls exist, and I can't go 30 seconds without hearing about how far long AI chatbots have come. So when the FUCK am I getting my life sized, fully autonomous, self cleaning sex robot? What's the hold up? It's [current year]. I was promised robot paradise years ago, and I want to fuck the robots

you can actually get topre clones in a lot of custom boards nowadays. I got an agar with EC switches and like it, but it would be AIDS without QMK. HHKBs are overpriced but still good if you specifically want something you can easily carry around and use with a laptop. I would recommend looking for a used one

READ THE (temp)WIKI! & help by contributing:
https://igwiki.lyci.de/wiki/Home_server

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

Interesting idea but yeah I think I want a more simple approach. OmniOS in a VM which will "own" the storage HDDs. I am eyeing OmniOS as my server os, for no other reason than I am just curious about illumos and wish to give it a go and from the documentation I've read I figure this vs BSD won't give me a huge difference for my needs (standard SMB NAS), so I opt to choose an OS i've never encountered before. Although back in my sysadmin days I did work with a few solaris machines. I actually managed to migrate 700ish websites off of an old, BEEFY ass solaris machine (not sure what version, but I remember it was a pre-Oracle one). That was fun, so Solaris-like it is.

I will also host my own git for shits and giggles, run a Pihole and also run a nethack server for my autistic friends, complete with full bones stuff etc.

Sorry for the blog.
