Guys I have a computer. How much storage do I need? Should I get a external keyboard?
>>108500734Building locally? What kind of dev?
>>108500734Just get the lowest memory between your chosen machine's lowest option for storage and 256GB. External storage drives exist if you have massive amounts of large files, but just for storing strictly source code, that should be enough.
More than enough for me.
I may be late to the party on this but my alphoomer nephew just showed me a locked thread of the Scratch Director of Technology losing his cool at 10 year olds and and being moderated by his own moderation team due to his "impolite" remarks while arguing over TOS changes that trains AI on user projects and adds an AI assistant. I guess not all gen alphababies got oneshotted by LLMs. Where's his PR guy to tell him a grown man throwing redditisms like "ad hominem" and "false narrative" at users he acknowledges in the same thread are statistically 80% under the age of 12 comes across incredibly retarded and tactless?

>>108503858Maybe the kids are gonna be alright after all
>>108503858Children are too inexperienced to see the massive productivity gains AI can grant them. Their parents should be mandating minimum AI usage and token consumption to ensure those children are properly brought up to maximize their productivity (enhanced 100-1000x). At this rate none of the younger generation will evolve to Homo AI and humanity will be doomed.

Proof: It’s NSA because of Mental Outlaw’s video titled “The NSA is Hiring Ex Big Tech Workers”. And further proof: Also, somehow, my older sister was a recruiter at LG (Life’s Good) even though that should’ve been a super hard to land position that maybe only would be filled by employees with years of experience, not my fresh out of University older sister. Also I got a call years ago with the “Caller ID” of “Apple” (no proof) that I didn’t pick up in time, showing that the NSA spoofed their Caller ID to say “Apple.”So basically: “Your boos mean nothing, I’ve seen what makes you cheer.” Knowing how they “reward” with “dream jobs” exposes them.My code: https://github.com/VitaMixofNutrients/VitaOS-Libre (Permissively Licensed.)THE NSA WAS BULLYING AND GANGSTALKING ME FOR THE PAST SIXTEEN YEARS AND STILL IS!They bullied Terry A Davis into suicide, fuck them. I want the Terry A Davis Files and my files (Vitalii Mykolayovich Skikun Files) to be published. Also, the NSA “trademarked” the word “VitaOS” a couple of months ago, but made it look like some random person trademarked it from a “Google query.” No, the NSA is spying on me and I thought of VitaOS first because Vita is part of my name, Vitalii Mykolayovich Skikun. Also Vita is a generic word that can’t be trademarked, patented or copyrighted. Fuck the NSA.My hacked LinkedIn account got and then lost a “Security Clearance”. This is despite me being advocating Anarcho Pacifism politically but still paying taxes like the rest of you. I wouldn’t sell my soul to the NSA.The NSA owes me $20,000,000.00 for my business that I was forced to close last year due to NSA interference.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

>>108503143I'd encrypt her full-disk if you get what I mean.
>>108503143you should be using full disk encryption on everything that is the default. use specific folder/file/archive encryption on top of that if you handle sensitive information like crypto encryption keys, personal shit, extralegal recreational narcotics related shit .... in case you suspect someone would try to snatch your pc from you while the entire drive is decrypteda better idea for this if you actually handle sensitive shit you want encrypted is to just install tails os on a usb drive and keep the sensitive shit on there and only insert+decrypt it when you need it

Freedom to fork things that work instead of improving them.Freedom to rewrite things that work instead of improving them.Freedom to have things not working because the developers have to account for a billion different configurations.Freedom to incorrectly configure your machine and cause obscure cryptic issues that seem unrelated and impossible for other people to replicate without taking the same steps.Freedom to have inferior software because the developers can't assert the user environment.Basically, freedom to fuck it up in every step of the way.MacOS "just works" because they control the hardware and the software.Windows "just works" because the user has no control over the entire OS stack.Linux "works in your machine" because you happened to have a similar environment as a specific developer. After using Linux for so long I treat so many things as minor inconveniences (like different display/audio protocols supporting different features, how enabling the compositor fucks specific games, and so on) that would never happen on any other OS.I just don't feel like Linux will ever go anywhere as long as things keep fracturing whenever they reach past a certain size. Having a BDFL in your project seems to work well but I don't know if that's a good solution, it won't stop people from forking your shit instead of contributing to a single effort.Comment too long. I'm OOTL since I don't keep up with crapple's products, but why did they start putting out cheap products? First they made a $600 Mac Mini a few years ago, and now there's a MacBook that runs off an iPhone processor for about the same price. Apple worked so hard to establish themselves as a luxury fashion brand so that they can sell overpriced crap, why are they suddenly pivoting to pandering to people that aren't pretending to look rich?

are pc speakers still a thing? i don't want to wear headphones on my head all day like some call center employeebut when i search for PC speakers there are barely any for saleam i supposed to drop hundreds of dollars on an audio interface and some proper speakers or is there some middle ground
>>108487257I don't know about quality ones but you can get basic ones for cheap like these Logitech Z200s. Personally I use an old pair of Logitech X-140s though the headphone jack on those things is worthless (if you plug headphones through the speakers lots of hiss)High end ones you might want to go the used route.

Any small sized speakers out there optimized for clarity at LOW volumes?Usually when you turn the volume down you can only hear the mid range around 1khz and the rest is just too quiet to hear.
