GPT has a serious fixation on using the em dash over the semicolon.
If you feed it text where you've used a semicolon correctly, it removes it and replaces it with an em dash 9 times out of 10.
I remember an instance last year where it replaced my parentheses for an acronym, my semicolon at the end and added a new clause —in which it explained mid sentence— to the sentence, totalling 4 em dashes and a single comma.

Pick a local model at random, pick gemini, claude, qwen, deepseek and tell it to add a sentence to 3 paragraphs of text and they won't replace your punctuation with em dashes. Let GPT get its hands on your writing and whether you ask or not, your consent does not matter.

ITT we share helpful firefox user_prefs that make it better. I'll start.

user_pref("full-screen-api.transition-duration.enter", "0 0");
user_pref("full-screen-api.transition-duration.leave", "0 0");
user_pref("full-screen-api.warning.timeout", 0);

This removes the annoying banner saying press ESC to exit fullscreen every time you fullscreen a yt video.

user_pref("media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.video-toggle.has-used", true);
user_pref("browser.engagement.downloads-button.has-used", true);

With this in your user.js before you open the browser it won't popup instructions on obvious features. I have a pretty big user.js based on betterfox that disables telemetry and toggles all the settings the way I like them so it's completely configured on install without doing anything, and then I've added a bunch of minor quality of life conveniences like these. Share yours anons.

>Our North Star is ‘1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code.’ To accomplish this previously unimaginable task, we’ve built a powerful code processing infrastructure. Our algorithmic infrastructure creates a scalable graph over source code at scale. Our AI processing infrastructure then enables us to apply AI agents, guided by algorithms, to make code modifications at scale. The core of this infrastructure is already operating at scale on problems such as code understanding.”

They should have dropped backwards compatibility with all legacy windows and offer legacy support for a premium if companies and end-users are that dumb to continue to use outdated windows version. That should remove plenty of old C/C++ bloat.
>>
>>107641259
>first zero day and they'll can the whole thing
lmao, as if that have stopped them from using C and C++ or any programming language for their various products that they have made or bought out.
>>
>>107641380

because they don’t want to pay c++ devs hefty amounts of money or train people when you have tons of retarded web devs that accept being paid pennies
just put react on everything, computers will eventually catch up hardware wise, don’t worry

it’s funny because i had this discussion with an older engineer because i was worrying about hardware limits when taking a decision and he was on the side of “don’t optimise things!” and had to convince him otherwise

Stream OS wins
>>
>>107641542

also microsoft can’t fucking write a decent windows api, they tried to redo their “gtk” framework at least 5 times, and it created insane fragmentation, so that’s why they’re going react now

linux fucking sucks considering the gtk/qt divide but at least its a choice between both, and apple did a solid job with maintaining appkit over the years (doing mac apps is relatively pleasant vs windows app development)

It's gonna get worse.
Microsoft replaces all Windows code (it might be named Windows 12 by then) with Rust.

Windows was written with C/C++. They want to replace those lines with Rust.

https://www.thurrott.com/dev/330980/microsoft-to-replace-all-c-c-code-with-rust-by-2030

Microsoft plans to eliminate all C and C++ code across its major codebases by 2030, replacing it with Rust

>using AI-assisted, large-scale refactoring.

"Goal is to eliminate every line of C and C++ from Microsoft by 2030," Microsoft writes in a post on LinkedIn.

"Our strategy is to combine AI and Algorithms to rewrite Microsoft's largest codebases. Our North Star is '1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code.'

I fail to see the problem.

Windows is closing out this year at less than 70% desktop market share, the lowest on record.

The worse Microsoft makes their OS, the more people are going to jump ship.

A complete piece of shit
