the /vt/ board was so poorly moderated and full of samefag schizos from southeast asia, so when this site was down for a few weeks and everyone had migrated to a site that had ids (and some shizos got exposed for replying to themselves) and good moderation, they finally realized how much better it could be and a large chunk never came back

As someone who was actually fucked up at birth with my vision, I can confidently say the industry is a scam.
99.9% of ophthalmologists have ZERO solutions for anything that isn't correcting the most minor of deficiencies. It's for people who would otherwise have zero issue if they didn't look at an eyechart and had trouble with the very bottom line or two.

Because some cant read it, it's time for contacts/glasses for life, intrusive lasik or whatever bullshit they sell nowadays.
I dont wear glasses because they ldo nothing
>>
>>107666034
Wearing glasses makes your eyesight worse over time, so you need new glasses every few years. I was told I "needed" them some 20 years ago and simply refused. 20 years later my eyesight barely got worse as it's normal with aging. Meanwhile, literally everyone else I knew who got glasses has had to change them multiple times, even those who got double jewed into getting laser have to wear them again.
I was lucky I had good eyes when I was a kid, and only developed a slight defect when I was in 8th grade or something, too old for anyone to force me to wear them against my will. Others weren't so lucky. When I was in elementary school one of the reasons they periodically changed your assigned seats in the classroom was to figure out if you could read the blackboard from the farthest row. If you couldn't they would tell your parents and you would be forced to wear glasses when you were too young to refuse or even question why. It was a literal witch hunt.
>>
>>107666248
I'm inclined to believe this since I do have astigmatism and I had a pair of glasses that helped me see a little better as a kid, but I hardly ever used them because of playing sports, then just stopped wearing them entirely around middle school. I haven't felt a strong need to get glasses in the 20 years since then but I wouldn't mind going back in and getting a pair just for driving at night and that kind of thing.

At this point, I wont even use any desktop environment on linux if it isn't X11. Even XFCE is dead to me because it has wayland support. I will never support anything wayland based on linux.

KDE-Wayland has a handful of basic fucking usability issues that affect all laptop and Firefox users and show absolutely no sign of ACTUALLY implementing fixes. God knows what they're doing with the funding. They had a funded travel-to-site gaysexathon months ago around touchpad gestures and so far there's sweet shit fuck nothing to show for it. I'm hopeful that their decision to suddenly dump X11 on a certain release rather than "when it's ready" (because X11 is a national socialist display server now, infact we've renamed it to 卐11) will light a fire under their asses. If not, hey, CDE still exists

Im not that anon, but a lot of the difference you see between hdr and sdr isn't because of hdr, but because the monitor goes into a higher brightness mode when hdr is enabled. They are intentionally gimped to make the hdr option look better as a marketing tactic.

Python is not a Lua alternative. The Lua runtime is only a few hundred KB while Python's is upwards of 10MB, and that's using the stripped down version meant for embedded applications. Lua is also many times faster and more CPU efficient than Python. Lua was designed to be a micro scripting language from the start.

I don't like to call myself an artist because that sounds pretentious, but I do post my artwork on twitter and have done so for years. However, I don't hate "AI", at least not for the same reasons the rest of normalfags do, I simply don't like the enshittification of the internet in general, twitter being the current example. It is retarded that artists think people being able to "steal" their art is something new, but having a shiny new button on every image so you can shitpost on the go is even more retarded, it makes slop generation even more accessible, it's like giving a gun to a monkey.
>who cares
I don't, and (you) probably don't either, but others do. I know /g/ thinks it's funny because it makes artists mad (and it is), but it's also hypocritical of anons to think this way when a lot of us dislike spam/shitposting/shilling here, and have to use filters to hide it. Hell, at least once a week you get a thread talking about how "4chin is shit now", "[people I don't like] ruined the board", "mods should rangeb& [people I don't like]", and so on. And yet when others complain about similar issues somewhere else on the internet, you call them retarded.
>just stop using twitter then
I don't hate AI and this shit doesn't affect me, and I don't care what others do with my artwork either, but I think others should have the right to dislike it for whatever personal reasons they might have. But instead all you do is call them luddites and telling them
>"No, you can't hate slop because... because you just can't okay?"
I just hope the nip artists move to somewhere else where I don't have to deal with this bullshit.
>>
>>107666409
Threadly reminder that """AI""" can't do basic reasoning.
>>
>>107666409
>all you do is call them luddites
The posters who invoke luddites are complete imbeciles because modern society is well on its way to fully vindicate them.
>>
>>107666409
>It is retarded that artists think people being able to "steal" their art is something new
The way that people use art for AI is different than how art has been "stolen" in the past. Right now this is mostly a hypothetical argument because there is still a ton that AI can't do artistically, and it really still struggles with depicting specific situations and types of character interactions and stuff. But suppose there was a tool you could use where you could just click a button and instantly generate an infinite amount of pics perfectly in an existing artist's style. That's different than anything that existed in the past, because:
>1. In the past, aping someone's style took dedication and effort, and in 99.999% of cases, someone who puts that much effort into art is eventually going to stop "stealing" do their own thing and develop their own style
>2. The amount of effort required to "steal" art in the past meant that people were naturally rate limited with regards to the quantity of derivative productions they could shit out (AI can generate 1000 pictures before you have time to make a single sketch, so it risks drowing out real artists due to sheer quantity)
>3. If you blatantly traced or copied someone's style in the past, peoplpe would almost always call you out for it and say "you're obviously just trying to be an exact copy [artist] lmao you suck and you're unoriginal"

Anyone trying to draw an analogy between corporations making an industry out of scraping the entire internet and trying to replace human creativity, and some guy trying to copy some other guy, is a sub-GPT corporate spambot who can't even fake semantics. Their "thinking" is on the level of pattern-matching linguistic forms.
