As far as I can tell, ISPs are able to tell that this is happening so they have metrics they can see on dashboards. It is not easy to stop it without breaking the ability to show the captive portal or sacrifice compatibility with older modems, or modems that are known to be vulnerable platforms. That's why they opt to deploy more strict config enforcement, additional checks or more modern CMTS with better heuristics in places that are more likely to abuse forced configs. So a poorer neighborhood in your city might be have a more strict CMTS than a wealthier one.
>>
>>107543953
Free anonymous internet is probably the only use you can get out of it. If your CMTS is particularly relaxed, you may be able to get the SNMP password and execute commands on other modems that are under the same CMTS (so near your house).

Unfortunately I can't provide a link that will just work with Spectrum. It varies a lot, but once you dump the config they push to you, and you read the definitions of each config entry, you will understand what they are trying to do. A few rows will stand out as "this would break my internet access" like not forwarding packets that match certain selectors or the integrity hash that you know you will break, you can delete those and see if it works. Likely it will.

But it is not an exact science.

You could also grab one of these, get 3 pre-modded modems and have 3 anonymous internet connections. Or 6. You can have 6 residential IPs that are not attached to you if you want.

You can even multiplex them and get even more bandwidth. On comcast you easily get 200Mbps+ with this method, from just one modem, without an account.
>>
>>107543988
Good to know.
>>107544011
If I got one of those modems, I would have to register it with them, right? To get the initial service?
>>
>>107544049
No problem and nope, you don't need to register it with them. In fact, you're better off not doing that since the point is to keep it anonymous.
When unregistered, it will still register you onto the network but with some limitations, that you will overcome with the forced configs if need be.

I just got mine and it's really good! The print quality is even better than the X1C and the nozzle self-cleaning finally works and it stops flinging poops onto the bed on occasion like the X1C. It's nice.
My filament buffer binds up occasionally causing the print to halt but I think I can mitigate that by lubing some parts. Some people claimed that magnets were installed the wrong way causing this problem but I highly doubt that Bambu doesn't have a process in place to catch such errors in QC.

Share your experiences with trying—or thinking about trying—Linux. What made you switch, or what stopped you from switching? Considering that Win10 died not too long ago and all I've only been hearing bad stuff from Win11

Some things to consider (but feel free to rant about anything else)

Hardware/software issues: drivers crapping out, apps/games not working?

Learning curve: was the CLI or setup too intimidating?

Community: any gatekeeping or confusing forums?

Work/school: stuff forcing you to stick with Windows/Mac?

Fragmentation: too many distros, inconsistent experiences?

Made this thread because I need more data for my graduation thesis lol. Personally, I already made the jump to arch and nixos since August. Honest answers are appreciated

On W11 IoT right now. Any way to have separate icons on my two monitors? For instance, I want Firefox on my main one, but not for the icon to appear on my second monitor's taskbar. Right now, W11's default taskbar puts a Firefox icon on both taskbar, which is kind of annoying. Back on W10, I used a pirated version of DisplayFusion but I don't want to use it anymore.

>Anything that would wipe "us" out would really fuck "them" long term.
To be fair, ozone could do a good chunk of the job along with UV-C radiation. The UV-C can be fought back against but you need people with knowledge that the purple light is bad, and ozone is kind of tricky to avoid if it's deployed en masse.
The systemic collapse of systems is where it could backfire long term but these people have never, ever thought about the long term in their lives. It's the one consistent thing they have going for them along with greed; which informs their short term thinking.

Really though. Good luck on your terminator and turret takedown. Hope they don't rig the substations etc that you're going to take down. Are you going to attempt it with an EMP? Any plans on if they have backups for human guards too or are you so hammer ninjapilled you could take those down with the bots while covered head to toe to prevent UV-C exposure? Any plans for how you're going to breathe while active in this too? I imagine they're going to engineer at least one chemical buffer zone or two that you'll need to get through to get to them.

Honestly. I think current generation LLMs that run on 8B parameters, can cook you up a plan safe from infiltration against the hammer ninja with explosives and an EMP.

>To be fair, ozone could do a good chunk of the job along with UV-C radiation
You done the math on that?
The amount of ozone you'd need, and the energy cost in it's manufacture, combined with the difficulty in complete dispersion would render it unlikely. Might as well use nerve agents. Cheaper, easier, and if you use the "right" ones, should break down before you're out of the bunker.

UV would require stupid amounts of energy, and is easily countered with card. Let alone filters to shift the wavelength.

>ever thought about the long term in their lives
The ones pressing this button *only* think long term. Think generations.

> Are you going to attempt it with an EMP?
Generally the amount of energy you need to dump into one of these things to generate a field large enough to be useful at range, kills the device. It's a one-hit wonder.

Piece of piss. Infiltration is such an easy game to avoid. Especially if you can narrow ingress points into killboxes. That detonate as they yield.

Unfortunately it is glowtown and glowtown is equal to spyware for everyone.

However, bloats are glowtown by definition. Probably not necessarily the Western strain, specially if you consider China doing hardware. Nobody wants to face the uncomfortable truth that USA does not have total control over the hardware logistic chain.

Personally, I work with western entities so it is in my best professional interest to fortify my domestic infrastructure with something endorsed by the DoD. That's is why I use it in more than once place.

Since my domestic private infrastructure was breach by a threat element (a neighbor) I had to take that measure, because I don't deal with networking at an operational level, is not my trade and I am not that smart.

So for example if you look at ANIX you can see how to interface with auditd and trying to have a control over what are my systems doing. Yes, even networking.
