>>107623897the way i see it, if they reduce all of their prices by 50% the product is actually good for the price. but man, this alone means that the current price is 100% higher than it should be.
>>107623907I'm guessing it's just economies of scale. Not many people buy them which causes them to be niche and expensive which causes people not to buy them. My advice is building your own. It's gonna be janky and definitely not powerful but could be a pretty cool project.

Which Japanese font looks kinda like this? This is actually a Chinese font, possible whatever is default for windows.Until yesterday my subtitles (on vlc) would automatically go from arial to some Japanese font that I really liked (looked kinda like this, I think, could be wrong). But now it defaults to this Chinese font and a lot if it is unreadable (the pic is an example of a readable line).
How can I tell whether two devices can charge from the same charger? Like I bought one that goes into the socket, with two USB-C slots in the charger, but if I try to charge two phones, or even a headphone + phone, it doesn't charge either properly. The indicator on the headphones isn't charging, and the phone keeps starting charging over and over again.
>>107611704Just use the element zapper
>>107623697it's likely that either or both devices are trying to take more wattage than what the charger can provide. Do they charge individually?
>https://libreboot.org/docs/install/dell9020.html#graphics-cards-and-iommuCan someone explain the implications of having IOMMU disabled? From what I read externally, it's used in GPU passthrough, and some game anti-cheat implementations make use of it. Regarding GPU passthrough, I'm assuming I won't be able to use virtual machines? The information as I understand it is somewhat conflicting. The article mentions IOMMU being buggy, and disabled by default, and then shows how to go about enabling it via kernel options (parameters?). I'm guessing this bug is only present on boot, and can then be enabled via the kernel. Is that correct? I plan on using an AMD GPU with this system. Anyone have any experience with librebooted desktops that can chime in on whether there are any issues with using a dGPU?
In 10 days on January 1st, the Texas Law [SB2420] that requires an ID to download ANY apps onto your phone using the App/Play Stores, goes into effect. How do we bypass this, is it just over, should we all just switch to dumbPhones soon???...I know that theres F-Droid, and you can use the Aurora Store to bypass this (maybe), but some apps refuse to work unless you download them from the Play Store now, and I heard that sideloading will be disabled in 1-2 years, so it seems like its over.>tl;drOnce this law goes into effect, users located in Texas who download an app on the App/Play Stores, will be required to confirm whether they are 18 years or older, by showing their ID.

You have been appointed as a CEO of a FOSS social media that wants to provide alternative to mainstream social media. How do you deal with bots and government-paid updooters/retweeters?
>>107623148
>>107623100perhaps a stratefy is to make a social media that can't be gamed by bots4chan has no voting system so that lever disappears for botshowever they can still spam replies and make posts.Maybe the solution is to have half of a person's feed dedicated to a subnetwork. You can then reduce the need for an algorithm for the subnetwork posts. Won't help if you are the only human in a subnetwork...I don't know
>>107623310Or his bots aren't amateur hour shit and are actually set to act after appropriate time has passed. And maybe then bot narrative is yet another avenue to present a problem where "verifying every human" through digital id is the solution

>there are people who still use BIOS over UEFI and turn off secure boot in the year 2025 on this boardWhat the fuck is your problem?UEFI/GPT has been the standard for a decade. UEFI supports larger drives, boots faster because UEFI runs in 32/64-bit mode rather than 16-bit mode, handles initializing multiple hardware devices during boot better than BIOS/MBR, and supports modern hardware better than BIOS/MBR in general. Unless you have an ancient computer, it is almost certainly UEFI/GPT OTB. I can't think of a reason to use BIOS/MBR if your computer supports UEFI/GPT.
>>107623696it protects boot files from being tampered and more if you do UKIs. you have to set up your system in a way for it to be meaningful though because in an average distro there are lots of place for malware persistance

>>107624112Well once you get on one of those derivatives you're in a whole other PARADIGM of software installation/management. Debian as I described installing it doesn't even have a "software store", much less MUH SNAPFLATS or any of that other gay NNNNNNNN shit, not even Synaptic. Synaptic is as far as I will ever personally go beyond apt in a terminal, and I do not have Synaptic installed, either. To uninstall a package you apt purge and it will delete all of the config cruft too, then apt autoremove --purge will uninstall the dependencies and their configs.
