Slackware is the worst distro I ever used no contest. It is an example of what happens when one decides to completely abandon pragmatism for dogma.

Yea because nobody fucking uses it. It's like a widow bragging about how she never argues with her husband anymore. Fake and gay.

As a BSD guy this is really the only distro I can stomach using, even if the package management kinda sucks.

ITT we share helpful firefox user_prefs that make it better. I'll start.

user_pref("full-screen-api.transition-duration.enter", "0 0");
user_pref("full-screen-api.transition-duration.leave", "0 0");
user_pref("full-screen-api.warning.timeout", 0);

This removes the annoying banner saying press ESC to exit fullscreen every time you fullscreen a yt video.

user_pref("media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.video-toggle.has-used", true);
user_pref("browser.engagement.downloads-button.has-used", true);

With this in your user.js before you open the browser it won't popup instructions on obvious features. I have a pretty big user.js based on betterfox that disables telemetry and toggles all the settings the way I like them so it's completely configured on install without doing anything, and then I've added a bunch of minor quality of life conveniences like these. Share yours anons.

THE ONLY thing that sucks is what you mentioned, 3Hz instead of at least 4, their rationale was battery save can you imagine that as if anyone wears that shit in actual military missions or something

that being said i dont have experience with automatic watches
is 3Hz really that much worse than 4Hz?

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

Recertified drives (WD) from server part deals: yay or nay? This is only going to be for a cold storage server.
>>
>>107637123
Only buy recertified drives.
>>
>>107637123
Depends. How long is the warranty? How much is it? If it has a short warranty then how much is it to replace?

I personally stopped buying them from. They jacked up the prices so much after they started sponsoring youtubers. Why buy from them when if I spend $50 more I can get a NEW drive with a longer warranty than what they can provide.
If you can get a deal where you can save 50% off compared to a new drive then I would go for it, but not $50.
>>
>>107637123

My 2 cents:
Catalog search does not filter, it's just Ctrl+F
You can sort bookmarks in the bookmarks menu but not in the bookmarks swipe tab
Scrollbar is ugly and thick
Pic attachment is not I'm the reply area but it's on the opposite side of the screen
In the bookmarks tab, what's the difference between "unbookmark" and "delete"?
You can't swipe bookmarks away to unbookmark

Pls fix

I try to write things down and memorize them. I would start by writing about my experience in the field, the technologies I am most comfortable with, or my studies.

The idea is that, when the day comes, you don't read what you've written, but rather have a strong foundation in the ideas you want to communicate with the correct wording.

NitroGen learned to map gameplay pixels to gamepad actions. It currently only works with controller based games.
