Is there a simple way to force date to always return a future date? If I use
date -d 10am
, it should return the next time it's 10am rather than only 10am today (which may be in the past).

Thinking of installing Fedora Kinoite on my dad's decade-old PC (i5-4570, no dGPU, 12GB RAM, SSD) that he only uses for web browsing and Worms Armageddon.
Any other distro suggestions or should this be good? Mainly I want to make sure it auto-updates and doesn't break on updates to make sure I won't have him calling me to troubleshoot. Never tried immutable distros myself outside of a few hours with Bazzite.

pardon my ignorance, but whats the appeal of emacs? its a terminal/environment where you can do about everything? but why not separate different tasks between different softwares.

i like the interface, does it supports jxl out of the box? and the zoom capabilities are good? i was thinking in doing a thread about image viewers to gather more info and opinions on the matter.

same, feels good. why regret? now you got more time for hobbies. also, the music that plays in that ED is good.
>>
>>107851615
Aurora is a much better choice imo. It's basically Kinoite but with a bunch of QoL improvements like better driver and codec support, working hardware acceleration, etc..

Are you happy spending $1000 on a monitor? If so then no. The monitor is relatively fairly priced for what its features.
>OLED on work from home
I assume you've heard all about burn-in. People are saying it's decent nowadays and the monitor does have a 3 year warranty so you might be fine even doing work with static taskbars etc. on your OS, but don't expect it to last for a decade. Again though people still buy OLED for the picture quality so if you're aware of that and are still happy paying $1000 for a monitor with a likely limited lifespan, then you didn't fuck up.

not exactly, my bad, I completely fucked up explaining what I want and the post as well. I basically want to pause something playing on screen 1, while screen 2 is focused and being used.

I have a keyboard with media controls. (these controls don't work for youtube in my browser firefox, which is a problem on its own what I want is also for vlc (where the controls work))

on screen 1 I have a video/music, on screen 2 I have everything else and I use 2 the most
if I use the media controls while using screen 2, it does nothing (because it has 2 focused).
is there a way to make it pause using a button on screen 1, while screen 2 is being used?
my question doesn't need to be answered with the media control buttons, I thought it might make things easier to set up

Documents provider apps integrates into the android file picker, just pick one for whatever protocol you use.
Some file explorer apps are also documents providers themselves.

AFAIK, no, it does not. I don't use Cachy, though, but Linux Mint. So other anons may know this better than me.

>>107849942
"Better" depends on what you're looking for but the selling points of CachyOS are easier installation than base Arch and packages with optimizations for modern hardware that can give a modest performance increase.

Guessing, or trial and error, is literally one of the best ways people learn.

As long as you can memo simple shits like making your own linked list or traversing a tree, you should be fine, since in industry it’s mostly about product design rather than technical work, and technical shit is usually "offloaded" to AI, like you will mostly learning with AI and reading your coworker doc. The main problem is just the chance of actually landing a job
>>
>>107848236
dont be sad I got a phd in physcis and still cant do physics. You learn these things with the time I only ever worked on electronics and thats 100% intuition so no need for concepts anymore. You just need to practice it.

Helix, but I am pretty sure any text editor with syntax highlighting is capable of a similar theme. But it has to be made custom for this approach. This is due to the typical light themes that have colored text adjusts the contrast of the colors for white. When highlighting the background you need to use very light colors to contrast well with black instead. I think It works exceptionally well for LaTeX since I just want to highlight the structure of the markup. Here is another similar theme that I use for Zig.
>>
>>107850223
There is nothing natural about the light from light themes.
It's way too blue and there absolutely bit enough orange and red for your eyes to bit strain unnecessarily.
If you use f.lux or similar and force it to night time constantly then it might be better than dark theme for your eyes.
>>
>>107837209
It's the opposite you tard, brown eyes are better at handling bright light than light eyes
>>
>>107850776
Well, I would argue it's slightly more natural compared to having your retinas lasered with the same blue light when they are adapted to a brightness level of a dark cave, which makes them operate on heightened sensitivity.
>>
>>107835872
Syntax highlighting is juvenile.

If you want a tablet and also want to draw, should you get an iPad or a Samsung tablet?
85 replies and 6 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
iPads seems to have a more streamlined software where everything is cohesive.

Samsung's software is all over the place with 10 different fonts for the home screen. That being said Samsung ad blocker is the best I have ever seen. It even blocks ads on apps like YouTube and TikTok.
>>
If you want to draw seriously just get a drawing tablet for pc, not having keyboard shortcuts will hinder you
If you just want to sketch occasionally it doesn't really matter what tablet you get
>>
>>107849927
The problem with drawing tablets is that you need a PC to use them. Without a PC, they are useless.

>>
>>107846937
akihabara has had tourist adjusted prices for ages. for gpus you're better off going more out of the way and then just hunting in a hard off or something. for vidya/anime goods just go to nakano. its fun for window shopping though and you can have the best kebab in tokyo (moses).

>>107846937
1. the prices of GPUs in Japan are already jacked up more than the already gigantic USDJPY exchange rate.
2. every store in akihabara is likely to be 10% more expensive on top of that just as a matter of course because they integrate that amount as savings for joining each respective "point club" (point cards are everything in japan)
3. access to more well-known brands is limited
4. I have no idea if American customs checks peoples' bags for GPUs but you may have to pay tariffs on it anyway. I know camerafags who've said they had to do this, apparently if you discard the box you're ok but glhf

It's unironically cheaper to import US parts and have them shipped than to buy locally in Japan sometimes
