>>107659394I would argue even if AI continues to get better at programming it will still be valuable to have people who understand code. I like to use AI slop for prototypes and if I wasn't able to figure out what it's doing or have the vocabulary to communicate what to do next to it then there would be nothing to cut through the noise and progress the project.
>>107659342Very smart. Demand for programmers will increase, supply will drop to abysmally low and the AI hype train will be to blame. Learn whatever you want, the competition will be shit anyway.
>>107659342for a programming job? veryto make neat little projects in your free time? go for itprogramming is fun when you can just fuck around making things with no risk of being fired if it takes you a week to figure a problem out instead of an hour
>>107659342Go for it, as long as you're realistic about your prospects of getting hired as an SWE.>>107659603I would probably leave SICP for much later. Although theoretically aimed at beginners, it was written in the 80s and it was a different time when it came to learning how computers work/how to program. It's rather abstract and uses a programming language that's rarely used today outside of uni courses. Most programmers haven't read it and have never written any lisp/scheme.CS50 looks good.
>>107660068So the javascript version of SICP is useless?
oh boy, i can't wait for artists jump ship to bluesky only to come crawling back to twitter because they are terminal whores to Big Numbers: episode #1341

This genuinely seems like a dangerous feature? Beyond art, you now have an option to edit and manipulate anything. Someone's personal photo. News. And it gives you the option to directly reply to the content you're editing.

What can't they innovate?
It must mean China's EUV breakthrough is far more significant than reported. I've seen how these stories unfold.
>>107660094The thing about innovation is that you need 2 things: intelligent AND creative people. The problem with countries like China and Russia is that they only have intelligent people, but who lack creativity. So they must be ruled by intelligent and creative people who can show them the way.
This is what happens when you don't pay your workers enough money.

>>107654575The tide is turning. Microsoft just announced they are going to turn their OS into AI slop in order to rewrite everything.Valve is about to entrench Linux as a solid choice for gaming with their upcoming Steam machine.ARM, Android, and even simple hobbyist Linux devices like the raspberry pi have been chipping away at Windows + x86 dominance for many years now. Many people who don't currently use Linux are familiar with it enough now and could tolerate using it if they had to.Valve is going to usher in the next era. Laptops and even custom desktop PCs will be built without x86. Apple is promoting the processor transition right now. Consumers want efficient, low power, low heat processors that don't drain battery life. Have you used a new MacBook lately?Windows only games will be made for a little longer but Linux compatibility through Wine will be made increasingly official and reliable. Finally, the end result is going to be a Unix future. Tech illiterates will own a Mac. Serious PC gamers will run Linux. This future will be made possible by Valve and Apple enabling consumers to walk away from Microsoft without turning back.

>>107655116>Windows 10 was HATED so fucking much on /g/ and every tech circle>and now people swear they will never switch from it>The same happened for 7 and windows xpAnd with good reason.Windows 10 RTM really was (is) awful but MS kept improving it. W10 became tolerable since 1607, it turned decent by 1703, and became pretty good since 1903.Same story with Windows XP, most people think of XP SP2 / SP3, and don't remember how bad XP RTM is.It actually didn't happen with Windows 7 which was well received from the start, but only because 7 is actually Vista SP3 with a rebranding and new aesthetics. Now Windows 11 was released more than 4 years ago with multiple new revisions / service packs, and it's still garbage. Every other Windows version turned out good after 4 years of updates and polishing, even Windows Vista.
Are they making google results shit on purpose to force people into using "AI"? I can't find results for my basic searches I used all the time. They are gone now. Yandex.ru doesn't have this problem.

It's over. We will never have cheap inference. Nobody will ever be able to escape the Nvidia tax.
that's wrong, read groq's press release> Today, Groq announced that it has entered into a non-exclusive licensing agreement with Nvidia for Groq’s inference technology. The agreement reflects a shared focus on expanding access to high-performance, low cost inference.> As part of this agreement, Jonathan Ross, Groq’s Founder, Sunny Madra, Groq’s President, and other members of the Groq team will join Nvidia to help advance and scale the licensed technology.> Groq will continue to operate as an independent company with Simon Edwards stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Linux Mint's user base is all boomers who want an old version of Windows and would be better off actually using an old version of Windows but they bought into "muh security" or another vague belief about why Linux is better even though they have no interest in actually learning the Linux way of doing things and just want everything to work as it did in Windows XP. At least with Ubuntu you learn the Linux way of doing things and the OS is grounded in the Linux philosophy even though it holds your hands through a lot of things. Half of Mint's user base, on the other hands, would be terrified of doing as little as the most basic of stuff in the terminal. Mint has no purpose of existence rather than cater to people who would probably be better off using Windows XP because that's what they actually want.
>>107659555boomers don't use software that doesn't run on linux, all they use is a web browser to check their emails a photo viewer to look at family albums, and 99% of software made in the last 10 years for windows doesn't even run on XP anyway, unless you do some kind of tinkering to get new programs to work, which goes against your idea of "Linux is too hard for boomers so they should use windows" (getting Windows XP to work with modern software and hardware is more difficult than using Linux Mint)you're a retarded shill, most likely hired by microsoft to encourage people to do anything but consider leaving the Windows cattle farm
>>107659599You cant compute that you are marketing your OS as Windows replacement as "privacy first" to people who dont give a shit about piracy, and that you think that lack of users on Linux is not because its graveyard OS for productivityFine, do this 30 more years, we know how first 30 did.
any zoomer talking shit needs to realize your Arch is easier to use every step of the way than the shit we grew up with. nobody under 40 is a real computer guy and never will be.ALso, Mint is the best distro by light years
>>107659508Mint isn't that different from other ditros. Most distros all ship xfce, cinnamon, kde etc.. that are all "Windows-like". >user wants windows-like experienceThe genenal Windows GUI (95) is brilliant. It became a hit for a good reason. Wanting a windows-like experience isn't a boomer thing.
>>107659508I like the cinnamon desktop even though I don't use it as much anymore. I still have a fully functioning cinnamon desktop I can login to at any time. I appreciate the windows 7x behavior.
