Can't wait until you hysterical loons finally come to terms with this in a couple years like you do with everything else.
>>
>>107633670
this is something that makes me not take them seriously. while i'm not at all close to the artist scene, i can't say i've ever heard someone complain about digital artists, people who use art software like photoshop or drawing tablets and the like.

to an extent i get where they're coming from, there is a line between something you've done yourself and something a tool has done for you, but digital art has been blurring that line for decades at this point. when you add text in photoshop with some built in effects, you didn't draw that text, and you didn't draw those effect either. if you coloured in in photoshop, you didn't colour it by hand either.
asking an AI tool to make something for you will produce something, but it'll probably be shit or at best generic. there is still skill required to make something /good/ with generative AI. there's a reason people use the term "AI slop" vs. just "AI", and that's to separate the generic stuff from the stuff which uses AI but puts that extra effort it to really make it stand out, stuff that needs a real vision regarding the end result, something you almost never get straight out of an AI program

same.
I was shopping for a new monitor to upgrade from my 21 inch 1080p tn from 2014 and just got a cheap 1080p hi refresh vrr ips.
not getting 1440p due to shit scaling with content + ui
not getting 27 inch 4k because too big + would look like shit with 1080p content + too expensive and wouldn't have proper hdr/miniled anyway unless i splurge a fuckton on it, so not future proof either
i just don't see the point in all these half assed shit ppi/no proper hdr options, if i have to spend 400+€ to compromise on *almost everything* i might as well stick to cheap 1080p for a little longer that is at least balanced.
>>

Congratulations OP, you have now had the pleasure of seeing all the industry shills crawl out of the woodwork the moment you dare criticize OLED.
You'd think it'd be better if these companies would put all this effort into improving on Micro LED and getting it to us sooner but no, it's far more profitable to sell us disposable, literal planned obsolescence displays.

Yeah the C4 is pretty saturated, but expected for a consumer display, I dialed it down too.
It's the only consumer display in that lineup.

For the sake of argument, it has one. Rec.2020 color gamut, 10,000 nits peak brightness.
Where it all goes to shit is that neither the color gamut nor peak brightness of the display are required to reach the standard of the format, and even "very good" displays like mastering monitors only hit a fraction of those values. So displays will tonemap out-of-gamut content. HOW it does this has no standard and is different between display manufacturers, so any HDR content that exceeds your display's capabilities will be a crapshoot as to whether or not it actually looks good.
This problem isn't too bad on video games which have their own tone mapping algorithms that can accommodate for your display parameters while still adhering to the tone and vision of the artist, but movies and images don't have that luxury.
>>
>>107631417
That's why HDR has a bad rep in general.
>>
>>107631423
Exactly. Double tone mapping in particular is a problem I've had to deal with a lot ever since Plasma introduced calibration, especially when running HDR games or applications with their own internal tone mapping.
HDR is truly gorgeous when the stars align and everything works, and luckily for me, it mostly does, but it can be jarring to most normal people if they had previously only ever had to deal with weird color balances and gamma settings.

>>
>>107633677
>Why don't they just make more ram? Isn't that what supply and demand says, that high prices will incentivize higher supply?
True but far more complicated than you you seem to anticipate.

The fabrication of RAM-chips as well as other kind of memory chips is very complicated and you need super expensive machines to do this. They're not readily available to buy. They get built on request/order.
ASML needs about a year until a single machine is built. Then it has to be acclimated and calibrated. Then you need the staff that knows how to use it and you need fabrication buildings with controlled climate and counter earthquake measures and vibration damping founjdations to be built.

Many locations on this planet would simply not apply to the geological criterias needed to produce modern nanometer structured chips.
It simply takes years from now to ramp up production of these chips.
We can only hope for these AI-providers getting saturated with chips a nd finally not requesting as many as they do now.
My guess this will take two or three years from now.
And i think they will ramp up by building new production lines as well, but as said, this will also take years to actually make a difference.

Where the gun stuff is a little silly is where it gets designed such that any urban apartment dweller can produce a firearm with his $100 amazon special printer. Of course it's a piece of shit that barely works.

For a lot of things the printer's best use is more of a way to bridge the gap between owning a bunch of car guy garage tools and a full on CNC machine. You can dramatically expand what you can do with your drill press, hydraulic press, and welding torch when you add a 3D printer to the mix. And yes that includes making guns that are actually kind of good. At least, of the pistol caliber bullet hose variety anyway. For rifle pressures you still need big machines.
>>
>>107633332
>Also, shitlibs and Jews will probably try to outlaw or severely restrict these
BambuLab already began closing in their user base to their slicer long ago and they have also put a banlist function into their software and firmware package that comes with the printers.
As from what i know, it's still disabled and non working but it's there and the official statement to this from BambuLab was to ensure "copyrighted" material could be blocked in the future from being printed.
We all know how this will develop and finally end with our dear globalist communist regimes in the US and EU

If you're about to buy a cheap but good printer, go for the Elegoo Centauri Carbon. Enclosed Core XY with good print results and you can use the slicer of your choice if wanted.

i>f the firearms get better.
Go on the jewtube channel "PSR"
He runs through a sveral mags in a row with the FGC-9 and other guns with relatively good precision as well.
So they already are good enough to cause devastating damage if so wanted.
>>
>>107629041
To continue using your 3d printer and not get bored you have to do more than just print nicknack garbage from thingiverse or cults 3d. You can use it to make actual useful things in the real world.
Its best paired with a CAD program like fusion, solidworks, freecad or blender etc.
Print a gun, print a pc case. Print tooling jigs for drillbits.
Skys the limit anon. The only limiting factor is how smooth your brain is and the materials you choose for the project.
Im currently working on a PS2 slim-esque style case to transplant a mini pc into for a home emulation console for my kids.
Ive designed and printed firearms and firearns parts (study local and fed law if you do this so you know whats legal) and ive made RC planes with my imagination.
CAD software is half the 3d printing hobby.

ITT we share helpful firefox user_prefs that make it better. I'll start.

user_pref("full-screen-api.transition-duration.enter", "0 0");
user_pref("full-screen-api.transition-duration.leave", "0 0");
user_pref("full-screen-api.warning.timeout", 0);

This removes the annoying banner saying press ESC to exit fullscreen every time you fullscreen a yt video.

user_pref("media.videocontrols.picture-in-picture.video-toggle.has-used", true);
user_pref("browser.engagement.downloads-button.has-used", true);

With this in your user.js before you open the browser it won't popup instructions on obvious features. I have a pretty big user.js based on betterfox that disables telemetry and toggles all the settings the way I like them so it's completely configured on install without doing anything, and then I've added a bunch of minor quality of life conveniences like these. because that's true, you literally see tons of retards saying 'ai slop' or 'robotic slop' or praising human 'soul' there and there, so retarded, none of them understand ai is still in baby phase, back in 2023 it barely could make hands or eyes or faces, and now we have a flood of furry porns made with online ai tools, there is over 2 million of porns made with ai generations, we have 5sec animations, we have sora, gemini, grok is getting better and so on and on, AI by 2027 will be common tool used by people in everything, of course if we eliminate problems like it making up bullshit, but so far grok and others seems to be pretty helpful when it comes for doing research, they can even help you learning other languages

You have your pool, and in that pool you have vdevs (virtual devices). The pool always stripes data accross all of the vdevs in the pool. The vdevs are where the actual raid happens. So my server currently has a pool with one vdev. That vdev is 7 drives in a raidz2. That means it has 2 discs worth of parity data. At some point I'm going to add another indentical vdev to the pool, but vdevs can be different. Different sized drives and different ammounts of drives. The important thing to note is that the pool is doing a stripe accross your vdevs, so if one vdev goes down it will take the entire pool. So don't do a 10 drive raidz3 then expand with a 5 drive striped vdev.
>>
>>107633552
What happens when you need to replace a disk? You're just going to have to rebuild the entire array. At least do 1 parity disk so that you can keep the pool intact.
