> be me, Nepali expat
> wake up Sept 4, apps gone: FB, IG, WhatsApp, YT, X, Reddit, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest, Signal, Clubhouse, Rumble +14 more
Actual scoop:
- Supreme Court ordered social platforms to register locally by Aug 28 or face shutdown
- 26 platforms blacked out; only TikTok & Viber complied
Gov’t stance on VPNs:
- Official decree labels VPNs “unregistered tunnels” and “cyberthreats”
- State media warns: using VPN is unsafe, illegal, may lead to fines or arrest
Why it matters:
1. Freedom of speech wiped out for 30M Nepalis
2. Creators & small businesses lose income overnight
3. People forced to VPN risk legal trouble on top of surveillance

I just got the Framework 16 yesterday and I regret buying it.
I actually really like the design of it, but the touchpad module should have been one whole piece.
And the biggest issue for me is the battery life is poor even with the dgpu.
If it had a U processor, it would have been good for me.
H / HS processors are so shit.

It's not fucking money, it's attention. Already happened in my personal life twice and once with a close friend, which is why I don't date "online types" even though we'd have more to talk about.
For some reason women just can't seem to resist a crumb of attention even when it comes from random perma online losers, it's bizarre.

nah.. imo eshell scripts are fascinating. you can always write your elisp inside emacs.

I have an m1 mac mini and I'm interested in upgrading to the m4. That 8gb of ram and better CPU would be so nice. I like the apple eco system, I can even use my phone as a webcam / microphone for zoom meetings. Macs have a lot of useful tools and a unix shell.

If all I'm doing is programming (mainly native app development in swift/kotlin), is there even a better computer I can get? I can get an m4 mac mini for $509 refurbished. For how fast it is--that's one hell of a deal!

>>
nah mini is the best value by a wide margin. maybe beelink if you needed more ram/gpu capabilities later on, but the price gap is too much for just programming
>>
Beelink SER8 is 1TB / 32GB ram / 8845HS, exact same form factor, $500 new. On Arch Linux just watching shows and coding the watt usage is like 3-8 watts it's crazy fast. If you must get Apple shit then get the mini. Performance is about the same.

Here's how to rescue seed 1-seeder torrents on MAM. There is no personal advantage to doing this. But it will help preserve availability of some books.

Under advanced search on MAM, you can set "Seeders is between (inclusive) 1 (min) and 1 (max)" to only see the torrents with 1 seeder. You can further narrow your search by selecting a category such as "Ebooks - History" or "Audiobooks - Science Fiction".

At the bottom of any page of search results, there is a button to "Download zip of all displayed torrent files", which makes it easy to download them all at once. In your MAM user preferences, under "Torrent", you can set your torrents per page to 100 to make this easier.

If you're bored and looking for a way to increase the amount of RAM qBittorrent is using, this might be a nice thing to do. Particularly for the audiobooks, which can't be found on Anna's Archive.

If you're given an unknown binary, and your task is to figure out what it does, it's a lot easier to stare at the output of the decompiler than it is to stare at the raw hex bytes of the binary.
It's not easy, sure, but if all you had to work with was the binary, then it'd be practically impossible.
>>
>>106485953
Hmm, ask in /hsg/, I'm not sure what the pros and cons of 2.5'' are.
For 6+tb and growing I'd just buy a couple of 8, 10, 12 or 16tb disks, depending on how much you expect it to grow and what deals show up on diskprices. I still think you're overthinking it.
Heck, people usually say to buy refurb because it's often cheaper by a wide enough margin that even if the expected life might be shorter than brand new disks, you still get more value even when factoring in replacement costs. Especially if the refurb comes with a good warranty.

how many times can you reinvent a brick?
>>
at least 16 times apparently, maybe more
>>
>>106485898
good question
every release looks the same
the apps were supposed to be native
the hardware is more capable than an average workstation of yesteryear
the battery lasts 1-2 days while it does nothing even when you turn most of the background shit
>>
>>106485898
You cannot infinitely reinvent a brick (smartphone). Due to entropy and resource degradation, each reinvention moves the system closer to thermodynamic equilibrium—where no useful work or innovation can occur. While technology allows for many iterations—through recycling, remanufacturing, or software evolution—the number of reinventions is fundamentally limited by the laws of thermodynamics.

So, how many times can you reinvent a brick?
Not infinitely. Only as long as usable energy and ordered matter remain—and that number is finite.

I didn't say refuse, I said positivity. I'm seething in part because I never get refusals on Claude so seeing this shit is like a jump scare. But both sonnet and 4.1 are trying to deus ex machina or are pretending I didn't die or whatever nonsense rather than going along with it. This is generally my experience with sonnet too. You can't let things get too bad and have to tardwrangle it before it accepts your thing.

Post card and model you're having issues with and I'll prove it to you it's a skill issue

God, I love people that use ai to create a website.

Yesterday, I found out an awards site was created using AI site creator called "Lovable"

The site has no ratelimit no auth nothing u can vote multiple times with one device

I've created a script python that rigs the voting for fun

Rewrote the script in rust with AI for the irony and performance.

You can get the NOMINEE_ID if you monitor the sites requests with devtools.

And /g/ I'd appreciate you if you take time and find any vulnerabilities in the site

You can watch the live results here:
