Which laptop should I buy if I want to use it for programming and gaming while running Linux?

Probably want something that's a bit more capable than the traditional ThinkPad meme at least (but not writing off modern ThinkPads), but also not a bulky Windows gaming PC that weights a ton and an heros itself with fan usage after running MapleStory or some shite
>>
>>107611532
You should probably be a bit more specific than that about what kind of gaming you're going to be doing. On a scale of candy crush to crysis in 2007, how graphically demanding are the games going to be?

Might wanna consider something like a t14 gen 2 AMD laptop. They supposedly use very little power compared to their intel counterparts. From what I've read it has to be a zen 3 or newer though because that's when they get the p-state feature. Doubt anything will come even close to the ARM processors though.

It's just funny how most of us were correct from the beginning.
Once companies got rid of their on-prem data centers to go all in on the cloud because "it's so much cheaper when you consider how you don't need admins or on-prem security anymore", the cloud companies would just dial up the price thanks to no longer having to compete with anyone. What are you going to do, spend tens of millions migrating off?

"It's so much easier to deploy something" is also a lie. In theory, yes, if I had access. In practice, I still need to write a ticket and wait forever for one of the admin cucks to actually do something. It's gotten slower, actually. Every time, they act like they're doing it for the first time. Sysadmins were already overwhelmed when their job was setting up virtual machines, executing some shell script from the company wiki that did some basic security and certificate shit and then installing the packets required by the actual software. The light in their little brains doesn't shine brightly enough to understand all the options you have in the cloud.

Ok as I already shitposted here a lot, I have this scoreboard.
It worked all fine and dandy, but the time still had to be set via a web interface (there is already a remote to start and stop and set score plus minus).
So I realized that web interfaces are stupid and for a fun game with frens (3D) I want to make it usable without fones. So I need to build a cute remote to set the time.

This is just a mockup. Now gotta connect it to the actual scoreboard which has a esp-now receiver and some protocol that should be easy to extend

This happens with every network filesystem. It's why people use things like Autofs to try to work-around it but ultimately you need that server to stay online if you don't want file operations to hang like that.
>>
>>107611445
Are you using an external drive (from BestBuy?) or an internal one? How many years was the warranty on it when you bought it? I know for sure that some HDD models are terrible chink shit, made in China or something. I'm curious to know what brand and model of HDD you were using.

>Archiving HDD
You can call it that but it doesn't mean it is. Unless your HDD is synced everyday to one or two other HDDs, or you use a ZFS mirror pool, then isn't an "archiving HDD". I have an "Archiving HDD", which is a mirrored zpool of two hard drives: protects against single-disk failure but not multi-disk failure.

>Hardware salvaging costs 900 euroshekels
I know that feel. That's rough dude. I've had multiple HDDs die on me. Two or three of them had/have stuff which I "really care about"; cost like 1000 USD to fix those shitty HDD models, and maybe I'll never pay that to do that.

>>107611752
MakeMKV in the Arch computer didn't work. I tried that ~yesterday. I successfully installed MakeMKV but it said something like "no usable optical drives".

Perhaps PyeVideo PY90DG is doing some weird things or using nonstandard formats which makes it hard/impossible to get the recorded videos.
>>
>>107611817
>Some files can be screwded despite being in the same folder as files that are fine.
That's not what I said.
That's the opposite of what I said.
I said all screwed files are in the same folder as all other screwed files, implying the folder wasnt accessed properly (note that the plate Im accessing is the COPIED plate. The real plate I am not accessing because Im too afraid that might screw it up even more).
Still thinking about shelling out those many shekels for a ahrdware-based saving of files.
What Im most bitter about is that Windows didnt tell me there was an issue with my HDD. I even did a checkup with windows tools because it took a bit long to access some files.
>>
>>107611769
>Woah, Firefox has split-tabs now
Is that the thing where you see two tabs at once side-by-side in one window? You right click on the tab(s) and it has an option to do that. Brave browser had or has that, but sadly not on my version of it -> Brave Version 1.77.97 Chromium: 135.0.7049.84 (Official Build) (64-bit)

>>107611445
>other images wont open because "file format not supported" (lie)
That's because the files are (a) empty, or (b) missing large portions of data, replaced with a bunch of binary zeros. Look at the files in a hex editor and you may see what I'm talking about. Compare that to working jpg/png/gif image files.

>>107611892

Python, one of the very few modern & popular programming languages not owned by big tech, is now begging hard for money at python.org (picrel), Wikipedia style.

This comes after the PSF rejected an US government grant because the PSF can't stop shilling for DEI: https://developers.slashdot.org/story/25/10/28/211237/python-foundation-rejects-government-grant-over-dei-restrictions
The same PSF then reported a surge of new donators following the above rejection: https://developers.slashdot.org/story/25/11/09/2017240/python-foundation-donations-surge-after-rejecting-grant---but-sponsorships-still-needed
Yet, they are now begging for money, using a big, intrusive and cringe banner at python.org, kek.

This is what your donated money is used for: https://www.python.org/psf/grants
>Conferences (e.g. PyCon Italia)
>Event site subscriptions (Meetup.com) (e.g. London Django Meetup)
>Django Girls Workshops (e.g. Django Girls Busan Workshop)
>PyLadies Workshops (e.g. All Day PyLadies Workshop)

These faggots have a whole page dedicated to their DEI philosophy: https://www.python.org/community/diversity
Their Libera Chat #python IRC channel is filled to the brim with trannies (they/them and she/her pronouns set as their IRC name).
