Yes ask the stupid shit, sometimes it's not stupid shit at all.
As long as they remember what you said and follow your instructions, all is well.
A buddy of mine had a guy more senior than him ask him how to do pull requests.

When it comes to low level development you really have two options: C and Rust, or as I like to call it, CRust for short. anytime you need real performance you gotta bust out the CRust. Bust the CRust

>>107866574
Eh, C is only temporary. It's fine for very simple stuff, but if you want anything more complex you gotta pull libc and RTOS and that is a bloat that can be easily avoided with Rust. On the other hand many architectures do not support Rust yet so you are stuck with C or some C++ abomination.

>>107867620
>>107868297
Doesn't C++ depend on libc and a lot of glue to run in embedded? With Rust you can have no-std freestanding library and with build-std you can have treeshaking down to the bare metal. But AFAIK C++ does not have well defined freestanding mode that doesn't depend on existance of heap and/or unwinding.

>>107869124
Low level development =/= low level language
>>
>>107867580
This, downies and jeets should not write code.
>>
>All these Rustfags shilling a language that relies on C to function
They're so retarded they don't even know how their own compiler works. Which is why they can finish it or an OS for it to run on.

Imagine wanting to write code in a language that doesn't give you access to all the functions of the hardware.
>>
>>107869778
You generally do not need any C code to use Rust.
>>
>>107866991
honestly, fpbp. writing software is just pointlessly humiliating. you exist to move memory around and transform shit into one shitty format to another and deal with layers of middlewaring and whatnot. that's basically 80% of IT and software dev in a nutshell.

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.

Flip a flag, add a component, etc.

In my ECS I can't add or remove components (archetype composition is fully known at compile time) so I'd probably flip a flag or if it's something bigger, just add the component by default and fetch it if the flag is flipped to execute the event.
>>
>>107869422
You don't. Just use memory to alter the state, sending events would be painfully slow.

Spawn a cube, size doesn’t matter. Draw it last, disable depth testing. In the shader set the ndc z value to the depth clear value (dependent on your gfx api) or very close to it. This will draw the cube behind everything else.

>>
>>107866282
Loading an image shouldn't make any browser freeze up. This has been a solved problem since day 1, decoding an image back in the 90s took far longer than any modern format does on current hardware and it still didn't cause that.

>>107866265
Users do however care about brands. JPEG is a familiar name, and JXL has the massive advantage of inheriting its image, pardon the pun. AVIF is a useless descriptor of the format. Is it like a PNG? Is it like a JPEG? Is it a new and improved version of the AVI video format?

I don't know about /a/ since I don't go there, but he did in fact return to /g/ and clarify the situation in an attempt to curb the schizoposting, but that is evidently in vain. See >>107865172
https://desuarchive.org/g/thread/102581788/#102597092

To clarify, pixDAIZ was a low-IQ impersonator and AVIF shill who used to post here and got BTFO with facts and logic by yours truly on multiple occasions. After he "vanished", everyone started accusing each other of being him, hence I adopted a tripname to distance myself. Daiz, the one actually going by the H264 tripcode, posted in favor of JPEG XL, which should already make it obvious that we are dealing with a different person to anyone who isn't suffering from Fregoli syndrome.
The real question is, did pixDAIZ really vanish? There have been a couple of other of pro-AVIF tripfags that acted suspiciously similar to him, but I err on the side of caution as the scientifically-minded skeptic I am.

>replaced by things that can't replace it
This is also a problem with combining things under an abstraction, incidentally. There are almost always concrete things that aren't captured by abstractions that should capture them. So you either need better abstractions, which take more work, or more conditions that capture the edge cases. At some point, adding conditions defeats the purpose of the abstraction (which is to compress many concepts into a single concept) because the abstraction then is less expressive than the concepts themselves

You also see something analogical in other fields. For instance, touch screens in cars are a cost-cutting strategy. Here, instead of expressiveness we're optimizing for cost, and so our abstraction is a physical thing (touch screens) standing in for many other physical things (knobs, buttons, toggles, etc). But, despite that touch screen can do everything those other interface elements can do, touch screens don't do them well, and you lose details like tactile feedback

it was usable, looked nice, had reasonable performance. Now it has none of these properties. Only people that are satisfied with modern windows are people that don't care about computers and use them as a last resort to do something or/and people that don't know any better. If they experienced less shit version they would prefer it if they could install and use it on their current computer. Windows never was perfect but it was decent enough. Nowadays it is even shittier than Linux, and it tells us something. Imagine being shittier than a free OS.
