At first, I thought everybody switching over to Linux from Windows 10 was a good thing, and it would mean exciting things. Now, I am not so sure about that. Is Linux going to become the next Windows but just open-source?

What is your plan if Linux becomes too normified in the next few years?
>>
>>108500609
>Is Linux going to become the next Windows but just open-source?
Only if you allow gtk and python clusterfucks to get the upper hand.
Other than that, suse + kde is better than any other OS in existence.
>>
>>108500609
>What is your plan if Linux becomes too normified in the next few years?
Just use a different distro, retard.
The only reason you're getting upset about normies using Linux is because you're a retarded contrarian and have to be different, you don't actually care about open source software deep down.
>>
>>108500609
>Windows 11 pushes update that breaks things
>Most users don't know how to migrate away
>Linux distro pushes updates that break things
>People abandon the distro
If you're on linux the bump you have to go over to install a new distro is a lot lower, you probably already succesfully did that once when you are on linux so now it's just repeating it with another distro
Cannot fully be excluded but by nature of open distros it is a lot more robust against bs changes
>>
I mean when people are demanding more and more support for windows things to be part of linux to the point where you cannot avoid "progress" it's easy to see some despair
People act like this is a distro thing like "well then just use that one" but really there are things that'll stop working once you want to go with the unpopular shit. The future is wayland, systemd, flatpak. You can "use different distros" but good luck getting it all to work together instead of accepting sacrifices and coping harder and harder as time goes by.
>>
>>108500609
it is.
Now we have literally brain dead windows consumer level developers developing on linux via AI agents without a single clue of how the system works.
I 58 years dude who never touched linux before at my company and shitted on everyone trying to bring new ideas and technologies to our stack, is now a self proclaimed "devs op" who (((masters))) prompts to tell the AI to build the systems in order to host and test our applications.
Needless to say, when shit hit the fan, he doesn't care and keep "building the pipeline" while the other fuckers have to cover up what his AI vomited out.
I know it's about linux and not AI, but the AI has brought gazillions of braindead cunts into a system which required knowing your shit before. Now it doesn't, so it becomes as shitty as their users.

What the fuck is this, I have never seen this before
Also it's shit because it didn't accept Ayumu Kasuha

depends on use case.
I think plists would be better if you could actually get completion for them while writing elisp.
I do like to use pcase and pcase-exaustive for setting up cases.
alist for almost everything else where I just need to push and nreverse to assemble something quickly.

How do I use mit-scheme for SICP?
I need emacs and then I need to do what?
I don't get i.
>>
>>108500813
Are you already using Emacs? are you familiar with installing packages and configuring and all that shit?
Regardless, first you need to install mit-scheme:
Then you have a couple options on how to do the excercises. My prefered approach was setting up a mit-scheme repl with geiser and then use org-mode with mit-sch source blocks to keep notes and executable blocks of code.

There's an org-mode version of SICP too: https://github.com/jabl/scip-slides
The absolute quickest way of getting setup is using doom emacs and enabling this in init.el

(scheme +mit)

and that's it. People like to talk shit about doom but it's easy as fuck to get started.

My daughter pleasured herself in front of Gemini Live with the camera. My entire family have had our Google accounts banned.

She's 14 and stupidly decided to try and roleplay with Gemini using its live camera mode. The AI correctly identified she was underage and Google banned all my accounts.
She did it on the family tablet. It has parental controls to stop her watching inappropriate stuff, but we didn't realise Gemini wasn't covered by these.
ALL of our entire family's Google accounts were linked to that tablet. Google banned them all.
Everything gone. 15 years of business completely inaccessible.
All my emails, all my documents saved in Google Drive.
Even my website was linked to my Google account and that's been locked down too.
We've written to Google and begged for it to be reinstated but they've said all the accounts have been shut down for child protection reasons.
I don't know how I'm going to pay my mortgage in 3 months time. I've literally lost ALL my records for my accountant. My company year ends in May.
My whole life is completely fucked.
Is there any legal mechanism I can use to get all my google accounts back?

Whether or not this is real there is a valuable lesson in this and I'm reminded of something that happened a few years ago.

A mother was talking with an online doctor about some rash on her child's private parts. The doc asked for a photo and the mother reached for the closest phone, which was her husband's, took a pic, sent it to the doctor and then got some ointment prescribed.

The photo got backed up into Google's surveillance machine and was then auto-flagged as child porn and the father's account got suspended. It didn't matter who he contacted and it didn't matter that his wife could explain what happened, nobody wanted to help him the few times he could actually reach anyone human.

The lesson is don't make yourself part of the surveillance machine if you can help it. Stay signed out, don't use automatic backups (unless you set it up yourself to your own server), and avoid any service by big companies.

they're making fun of us again…

Wearing cable over the ear reduces the microphonics when compared to cable down and braided cables have less microphonics in general, so that's BS too.

the only thing you're getting infrequently on iot ltsc is feature upgrades. all the regular stuff still comes through. the only thing i know of that's actually a problem is if you're on win10 iot ltsc 2021 it doesn't support 12 gen or later intel architecture properly; for that you ideally want windows 11 for full support or win10 22h2 for partial support.

the way i do updates personally is, for my main device, i use win11 education and i usually stay on the oldest feature version (via group policy windows version target) until it's a month or two from end of life, then upgrade. for my other devices, i have them on the latest feature upgrade 90 days after it's out. they serve as a test bed so i know what i'm getting ahead of time.
>>
>>108498444
I installed all Windows updates.
Unfortunately I can't manage to install the cumulative update, because doing so requires a reboot and it's still boot looping.
When it finally does boot, it says "oops, things didn't go as planned" and undoes the update.
>>
>>108500985
do an in-place repair upgrade, grab the latest media for the sku of windows you're using with the latest monthly update applied (should be on mas) and run setup.exe from inside of windows and make sure it says to keep all files

why isnt there a dedicated ddr5 channel directly to cpu with soldered 8gb on the mb?
being soldered and close to die you could run higher clocks and just dedicate less channels to ondie controller.
if you double the throughput u can halve the channels, infact why not just have a bigger chiplet and put a 3gb module right next to the IO as a l4
