That's good to hear anon. I'm wishing you all the best along that journey.
>its just thing around are real bad
I can't guess as to what the issue is, but I am wishing you the best with it. Try to focus on the present and what you can change, while ignoring all that you can't. And remember: It's only depression if it's disproportionally intense or long lasted. Feeling like shit because things are shit is just being reasonable. That's the hard part when you have it, it's hard to differentiate between unreasonable emotions due to the illness and reasonable negative emotions about how your life is (maybe in part because of depression).
>>107559329

what if companies are mass buying hardware not only because of AI, but to push people into a cloud ecosystem in the future?

imagine a future where most consumer hardware can only run a browser and very lightweight stuff, and the rest needs to be done though cloud services

As long as the government doesn't intervene in stopping the production of hardware, as prices rise margins also rise and create an opportunity for new producers to enter the market
It's not guaranteed because nothing is guaranteed. AI is destined to fail anyway, it's revolutionising things but margins will lower easily. These companies are basically investing for nothing but they're using freshly printed government money anyway.
>>
This is being done by a desperate scam company to hinder it's competition. Even NVIDIA is backing out on some of it's plans to support them because despite all the hardware they burn they keep getting smacked by more efficient models. We're caught in the crossfire of a literal fucking retard given unlimited VC capital because he looooooves sucking dick
>>
These threads are made by tech inept people. I could comfortably use 4GB of RAM on any popular Linux distribution and probably would be fine with two. Plenty of people run pretty intense workloads with 8GB Macbook Airs which are usually the most powerful laptops with just 8GB of Ram. 99% of people have 16GB of RAM or more and if one of their sticks die they won't need to change to a fucking cloud because they would still have 8GB of RAM.
>>
>>107555161
>but to push people into a cloud ecosystem in the future?
How long precisely do you feel it practical to restrict the ability to purchase?
What about all the manufacturers without a "cloud presence"? Why would they play this game? Whilst they're waiting out the market for all the existing and usable devices to die and losing sales consistently in the process....

>imagine a future where most consumer hardware can only run a browser and very lightweight stuff, and the rest needs to be done though cloud services
you mean the '60s/70s? When you interfaced a terminal because that was cheap and you shared computer time across the network because it was expensive and the computer was the size of a f'kin building.

Step 1, determine what performance do you need. Will it be a facebook (or 4chan) machine? Will you be doing web dev? Compiling large C++ projects? Doing video editing or photoshopping? Rendering large Blender projects? Any combination of the above? Performance isn't needed just for games but different workloads have different profiles.
Step 2, decide what specs you want based on the usage you need.
Step 3 find a laptop that matches your desired performance profile.

Gaming laptops are usually heavier, run hotter, have less battery life and worse quality/less expected lifetime, so you're not getting that performance without tradeoffs. If you don't need it then you should definitely optimise for the things you do need.

So, yesterday my cheap laptop HP 15s, didnt want to turn on when the power button was pressed. Tried several times until i started looking for a potential solution on the HP tech site with different pc.
Did the usual hold the power button to drain residue energy thing (couldnt get the battery out since its nonremovable), tried to boot but no luck, tried with power cable, no luck.
When the power cable is connected the charging light(orange color) is not constant but holds for a few secs then goes down and lights up again and so on, normally should stay lit up, i know since i have another,
exactly the same laptop to compare from other family member (bought at the same time in bulk).
Now, after leaving it charging for about 20-30mins, i pressed the power button and lo and behold it turns on like nothing happened... works without issue, battery was and still is charging no problem.
When i tried to turn it off tho, after Windows 10 closes, and screen goes dark and the damn thing reboots by itself, just like i would press the power button myself, and when i try to turn it off again it repeats ad infinitum.
The only way i managed to turn it off was to either hold the power to force shutdown or press the power when it reboots (there was like 1 time i managed to shut it down normally).
After few hours post shutdown, i wanted to check it again and no dice, wont boot. Now figured out that charging for 20min had warmed it up so maybe the reason is a cold solder, warmed it up a bit and it turns on,
tho the no turn off issue persists.
Can anyone tell me what might be the reason for this to happen? Is it the cold solder i figured or maybe something more or different? How could i possibly investigate further or try to repair it?
>>
>>107559136
Yeah okay fair, I meant delusion as in psychosis, not as in he held incorrect beliefs or whatever.
>according to (((doctors))). the whole of "psychology" is little more than opinions.
Again he himself talked about how he had issues determining reality. A lot of psychology is very bunk but mental illness objectively exists and there are some symptoms which are relatively well documented, detachment from reality (aka psychosis) being one of them.
>>
>>107559202
>Again he himself talked about how he had issues determining reality

>mental illness objectively exists and there are some symptoms which are relatively well documented, detachment from reality (aka psychosis) being one of them.
>Psychosis is the term for a collection of symptoms that happen when a person has trouble telling the difference between what’s real and what’s not
and (((who))) determines if a person has trouble differentiating reality and imagination?
during covid, you were called a retard for questioning the narrative.
even before that, a journalist was institutionalized (for a couple of days i think) for questioning the 9/11 narrative.
regardless whether mental illness is real or not (sure, if you lock someone up and torture him for years he'll lose his mind and might never ever recover), it is used as a tool by the state to suppress dissidents. and Terry was very vocal about his beliefs.

That's something so trivial that you could just write your own in like 5 or 6 lines of Elisp. I don't think it really justifies the hurdle of tinkering all init.el just to get a newer version.
I will probably only update Emacs when we get something more relevant like multi-threading. Otherwise I don't really think it's worth the headache.
>>
>>107558890
That doesn't have to be a minor mode (like the other anon said). A hook would be enough.

>>107559192
That isn't buffer local. You would need another hook added to something like a major mode hook which would add delete-trailing-whitespace to before-save-hook locally. The idea with the new minor mode is that it wouldn't be on in every buffer.
