Why don't companies make their own RAM like they make their own chips?
>>107556576apple doesn't make its own ram. the chip die is made by tsmc, the ram modules by SK Hynix. It's possible to remove the stock ram and replace it.

4 years ago Mental Outlaw made a video about Surf and how based it was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9xK44imGVcRecently, (past few months) I tried using it serious. Making wrappers that auto open common webpages with Surf, in example yt_mentaloutlaw is a /.local/bin wrapper on my machine that opens Kennys YT page. Another wrapper that I made list common websites in a basic html list- duckduckgo, startpage, deepseek, wikipedia, soundcloud, grok, /g/, wcofun, wikimedia, h ytmnd, GIMP forum, flathub ect... work good on Surf and I use those websites commonly. But problems exist, I can't select the url to get it on the clipboard, and unrelated I have to manually click "copy" to copy normal text to the clipboard. There is no history list, It saves all media I download in /home/username and websites I visit often like archive.org shit the bed because I can't access way back machines 1996-2025 chart. But the rest of archive.org may works fine. X.com goes painfully slow and clunky after browsing for a few minutes, and it usually has randomlly crashes if I open a new tab, I have to copy link and run `sf website name` to prevent that. Here are my surf wrapper settings that launch with `sf`surf -z 1.3 "$@"Share your experiences with the surf web browser. I tried to do it to make Kenny happy - its usuable some places, but not ideal and apparently may use more RAM then Brave in some cases. Also just forget about bookmarks and use iconified wrappers.

Also please stop using Grok to prove your point, it's an AI model not a god, it will reply with whatever seems looks good based on what it was trained on and since it's musk's child it will be more in favor of the government's decisions than against it the more he manipulates its sources.as for me, im thinking of getting back to college to get a degree and maybe a better job down the line. My boyfriend tells me I could retire and be a stay-at-home because he got a promotion but i dont want to be lazy or be a burden to him.

I recently got my laptop back after it was seized by the LEA. They found nothing since I had FDE using Truecrypt but now I'm worried if they tampered with my device or installed a backdoor. I have placed it inside of a faraday cage and I'm thinking whether I should get rid of it. My mom's also asking a lot of questions which makes me think the house has been bugged. Currently posting from my phone which hasn't been compromised. My parents foolishly allowed the agents to take my laptop without a search warrant while I wasn't home and now they're trying to make me confess for my sins. What should I do? I'm obviously getting a lawyer within the next few days, but does /g/ think my laptop is safe to use, or should it be destroyed?

Why have companies given up on the cheap computing niche? You could get a cutting edge laptop in 1982 for just $100, back when an Apple 2 cost $1500.
>>107554490The inflation-corrected dollar value is exactly how one compares purchase prices from different eras. That's why charts like this one exist:https://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm
>>107554460>You could get a cutting edge laptop in 1982 for just $100,
>>107555608Unironically you can get a used M1 Macbook for 300 bucks these days.
>>107554460Lack of customer demand for that style which is a niche customer interest. Phones and tablets ARE cheap computers that style would have to compete with while also competing with abundant used and more powerful PCs. Adding a bluetooth keyboard and mouse (or combination keyboard with integral trackpad) is easy as pairing. Tablets often have aftermarket cases with integral bluetooth keyboards (which could of course be paired with a phone).

>>107550152I run Mint on a X390 Yoga and XFCE is fine as long as you have an auto rotate script configured. Cinnamon has support right out of the box and I assume MATE does as well, but I care more about battery life so I quickly swapped over to XFCE and haven't touched either in a while. Pressure sensitivity works without configuring anything as well, but you better like Krita or other drawing programs that are Linux native because Wine still is unable to translate pressure sensitivity when using it for Windows programs.
>>107545866They're both very similar, 380's got a few things that add up to being better as a whole than the 390 (can put a 2242 M.2 into the WWAN slot, more keyboard protection when in tablet mode, modular power jack means it's more resistant to breaking than a typical Type-C port and can also be swapped out for Type-C charging instead of a laptop plug).>>107493750>>107496255
