I find it hilarious how these retards are shilling Linux as protection against big tech while using fucking Instagram to document every step of their lives.
The idiot even thinks that simply having a modern Thinkpad T series makes things "safer." Like, nigga, you're not even using an X60 or something. And to make matters worse, it's a Mint, full of telemetry.

But the biggest problem of all isn't even that he uses Mint and a Thinkpad, but rather that he's worried about privacy while carrying a portable backdoor (smartphone) in his pocket. People like that should be ostracized.

File: foss_infrastructure.jpg (142 KB, 1080x1350)
142 KB
142 KB JPG
There are serious injustices with critical web infrastructure. FOSS devs are underpaid/not paid at all. Take Denis Pushkarven's tragic story. Despite maintaing crucial web infrastructure he's broke. I think the solution is for unpaid devs is to stop maintaing & let the system temporarily collapse, make corporations beg for it back. Bargain for a fair wage. But most people on Fediverse disagree with me and think the EU should take full control, arguing server infrastructure should be overseen by the highest levels of the European Gov. I am asking for market consequences to manifest. But they as for strong centralized Government. I suggested that devs like Pushkarven switch to GPL3 and then show off software updates locally, Upload a YT video showing off the highlights of offline not released fully functional core-JS updates, but don't redistribute the code, instead say they will only distribute code publicly for a large $10,000 dollar fee. See how much bargaining power it has. It doesn't violate the GPL/MIT to show demos of unreleased software and request bargain payment for release, but the GPL3 is better because it demands reciprocity, if code is modified they must return the favor. We can also normalize paying for feature request all around, the software is free but asking for features is labor expect paying for that

Debate: Do we need Government in the FOSS server realm? It looks to me like the Europeans on Mastodon can't tell the difference between voluntary community driven projects & a strong centralized welfare state, they act like these are the same thing. To them Government and Community are synonomous terms. I don't understand why the claim of allowing the system to temporarily collapse until maintainers are paid a fair wage is controversial? I don't understand why they think everything should be free as in beer. Its odd to see self declared "anarcho communist support the EU.

The goal is to reduce user costs to zero, not to increase them. Half the value is being able to feed the population shit, like Google's biased search results but force multipled many times over.
They'll charge advertisers to bias the model in their favour, that's their only revenue stream. Enterprise subscriptions are a bust because it can't perform outside of generating reams of generic text.
These companies are on a razor's edge of hype and need to keep the party going, price hikes would spook everyone concerned

Technology has gone too far. Companies are obsessed with making phones as thin as possible but is that really what the consumer wants? I've never heard anybody express that that's next improvement they're lusting for.
They're already way too thin making the the experience less satisfying because the feeling in the hand is horrible.

Just look at their "GPU servers". Absolute fucking joke and the price is insane. Hetzner has been dead to me ever since they pulled the IPv4 now costs extra because no one wants IPv6 shit. Every single person run shitbox provider in Belize offers free IPv4 and additional addresses for 1€ a month. And their support also deteriorated as they expanded into the US, who could have seen it coming.
