Am retard that tried to install Cachy from a Live disk. During the session I removed the disk. I tried to put it back and have it finish. It did, but now when I restart, it always fails to "kernal sync". Keeps timing out then it just shows color specs on the screen.
It'll only boot to try and start cachy off the disk, but it never full boots.
If I take out the disk, it can't find a bootable OS on the HDD.
How do I fix this?
It's a really old laptop so it's not crucial. Just thought I'd breathe life into this 15 y/o PC, but I really botched that install.

Typical Spammin' Sanjay lying in his troll posts because he can't handle the reality that Apple is a spyware company. The truth is UK law only forces APP-MAKERS like Discord, Reddit, X, Facebook, Instagram to verify users because of all the CP on their platforms.

Apple just saw it as the perfect opportunity to enforce mass surveillance at the OS level and passed the blame onto the UK.

The people who need backward compatibility are people who have old hardware that needs software to be configured.

Like some sensor in an industrial plant wont get replaced every other year. So you might have something that is 20 yo and you need 20 yo software to access it on its rs485.
Even if you only have to set modbus registers. Thanks to the power of closed source, you can not use current software for it, because you dont know what the registers do.

You will not be able to run any such software on current Windows.
There is no backward compatibility.
There is no guarantee. Microsoft isn't going to pay you for the damage when Windows 11 crashed Windows 7 software while doing something important.
Even if half of the application runs and only the half you dont need crashes, would you risk that?
Nobody does.
Windows backward compatibility is in an imaginary theoretical realm farm away from reality. In reality, it doesnt work.
>>
>>108513084
and why should this be my problem?

I dont give a fuck what excuse Microshit comes up with. None of it changes the fact that i can't run old Windows software on current Windows.

No amount of cope and marketing brabble can change reality that i can see and witness.
>>
>>108512636
and shit like this IS disgusting
>but but you arent supposed to directly access that!!!!!
It doesn't matter! WHY change it? WHAT is the reason for this?
It is obvious what pitfalls are waiting when you do that.
How about just not doing that?
Just keep that funky hex number the same. How hard can it be to not touch that?
>>

Job sites have constant postings from AI companies wanting "experts" to create new content for their models to consume. The pay is shit so I'm betting they're getting shit content from those workers.
>>
>>108512525
they genuinely cannot grasp the concept that these are pattern matching text prediction systems, that these systems have more in common with a branch predictor than an actual thought process
>>
T bh if you've spent any meaningful amount of time with a frontier model in a coding harness, some of the people itt actually sound completely detached from reality.
Doesn't matter, it'll be undeniable soon.
>>
>>108513166
Sounds like something someone with no inclination towards software development would be able to do handily
>>
>>108488118
Look, I think LLMs as software are a pretty great invention when used reasonably. They can be helpful aides for many things like research and analysis and speed up human work. Where the problem lies for me is when they're treated not as supplementary and assistive to human effort but as a replacement. There's no need to spend so much money trying to build massive data centers and inflate RAM prices all the way to Jupiter to replace jobs that humans are more than capable of doing.

>In NA, ISPs can forward threatening e-mails to you from the copy right holders, and some cucked ISPs can impose penalties if you are caught too many times
In Europe lawyers from the copyright holders are monitoring IPs from torrents and calling the responsible ISP. Your ISP will then give out your data (name+address) directly, so these lawyers can hold you responsible directly.
That's the difference between EU and USA

This year's Debian Project Leadership election has only ONE candidate and it's a Pajeeta (Sruthi Chandran):
>She is inactive on the mailing lists, and her Salsa profile is private so we can't even see what her coding contributions are.
>She's run for DPL 4 times before; lost each time
>Her entire platform is just about diversity and bitching about cis males
>She intends to formally incorporate Debian in the US, which would force Debian to introduce age verification
Her only claim to fame is organizing DebConf23, an event where a Debian developer literally fucking DIED because basic health & safety measures were not followed.

A much more qualified candidate was hospitalized during the nomination window and couldn't apply in time, yet she has refused to reopen nominations.

Debian is FUCKED unless the Debian developers all vote NOTA (None of the above).

it's no longer the 1970s or 1980s. use high level language for most shit for modern hardware, use low level language for performance reasons/hardware banging. best of both worlds. slightly easier to debug.

CPU is i7-8700k, mobo is asrock z390 Extreme4.
Intel B580 in PCIe slot #2 (x16) and HBA in PCIe slot #4 (x8) but CPU only supports 16 PCIe lanes so they should both be running at x8.

seems a common occurrence for z390 boards, and the last BIOS update was in 2022, which I'm already running
I was originally planning to buy a cheap ryzen CPU/mobo for this so I might still go that route
alternatively I have my old 2500k cpu/mobo/ram I could get my hands on and build into a separate jellyfin box, though I was hoping to combine them
>>
>>108512816
bummer, well, if anything separation is good. I used to have all in a single server but things happened and I split it into multiple. I'm far happier with this setup

>This release of FreeTube represents an incredible amount of hard work and persistence from the project and its contributors. It brings major improvements across playback, performance, and platform support, with the most significant changes detailed in the FreeTube, YouTube, and Electron sections below.

>FreeTube
>Implemented SABR playback support via the local API, restoring audio track selection in the player. Watch pages now load faster, but may show timers for pre-roll ads and SABR backoff. The displayed timer values are provided by YouTube and we have no control over them. If playback fails, it will automatically retry or reload. For more details on SABR, see #7119 https://github.com/FreeTubeApp/FreeTube/issues/7119#issuecomment-2837840256
>Updated the player to a newer version of Shaka Player with a modernization of the UI. The interface is now cleaner and closely aligned with YouTube’s look and feel.

>YouTube
>YouTube has removed its Trending page, but FreeTube’s Trending page remains available by sourcing data from the trending sections of the Gaming, Sports, and Podcasts channels.
YouTube has updated its search filters, and FreeTube has been updated to match these changes.

>Electron
>Updating from Electron v34 to Electron v41 introduces the following notable changes:

I love freetube, but the old player ui:
>gave it a unique look

>kept playback speed/etc toggles behind only 1 click instead of 2
also, I don't know enough about yt scraping to know what sabr is, but now sometimes the player will spend 5+ secs reloading in the middle of a long video
