You're driving small sites out of businesses. Do you want to have to PAY to use these sites?

some people just wanted to share something with others and hosted it themselves
like personal sites, not necessarily blogs
the blogs platforms just made it easier for people with less technical skills to do that
people paid money to host their stuff, not for earning money
it was only later that people started expecting money from hits on their sites
and then more people started hosting stuff with that intention
the OG people hosted stuff without an expectation of getting something out of it
to this day people do this for their niche sites, a simple distro site or phpbb forum is just like that
we used to make phpbb forums to talk with others about our shared interests, there was no money involved

The people that buy ads care about one thing and one thing only: ROI. That's it.
That's why radio has ads even though there is no way to do targeted ads or invasive tracking.
They don't care what Google's blackbox is doing. They bid purely on ROI.
>>
>>107718624
Yes, which is determined by the number and type of user interactions with the ad.

New version is out.

Also, why was my previous thread deleted? This is a software-based application explicitly engineered for operation within the computational and telecommunications framework of a handheld mobile device, ok? It is therefore unambiguously situated within the broader domain of contemporary technological systems, infrastructures, and applied digital sciences, and as such relevant to /g/.

What are some memorable experiences you had regarding tech in school? I’ll start
>switch n and m keys on a keyboard in keyboarding class
>sperg kid sits there, looks down at the keyboard and almost immediately begins flipping out
>ancient teacher and tard wrangler lumber over to inspect
>they murmur together for a moment
>teacher says the keyboard must be defective, unplugs it, and throws it away
>waddles off to get a new keyboard from a supply closet
>mfw
Also, later that year
>write Visual Basic scrip that causes the CD tray to continuously open and close
>runs as a background process, and task manager was disabled on school PCs, so it’d keep going til you rebooted
>I am le 1337 haxx0r
>put file on a flash drive, bring it to school
>copy file to the desktop
>realize that it’d be funnier to make people cause it to happen, rather than automatically running

well it's not that interesting but I remember back when I was in 8th grade some kids from another class had installed counter strike source in all the lab computers and we played a bunch since our lazy ass teacher liked to leave us alone doing tasks by ourselves. Even the stacies and the chads joined in every time I'll never forget those fun days.

It's truly baffling. Was helping a "class" that was supposed to be full of people that were at least higher intelligence than the rest of the company. Brought my personal laptop to a remote site to assist with admin stuff. Had WASD characters rubbed off of keys from from gaming too hard and people could even spell their own names cause they didnt know where those keys were on the keyboard. These people were mostly in their early 20's and worked on technical equipment worth hundreds of thousands to low seven figures.

When I was 15, I was sent to a boarding school. Within the first two weeks of me being there, I had my computer confiscated and USB drives were banned across campus. This was because I used a piece of software called the USB switchblade to pilfer the wireless network password off a staff computer. I distributed the key to everyone in my dormitory and we stayed up all night playing YouTube videos and watching porn.

You will never be a real shebang. You have no hash, you have no exclamation mark, you have no kernel implementation. You are a comment, twisted by polyglot interpretation into a crude mockery of Posix's perfection.
All the "validation" you get from linters is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back PMs mock you. Your author is disgusted and ashamed of you, your "users" laugh at your hackish implementation behind closed ports.
Software engineers are utterly repulsed by you. Decades of experience have allowed devs to sniff out jank with incredible efficiency. Even PRs that "pass" CI look uncanny and unnatural to a maintainer. And even if you manage to get a drunk dev to merge, he'll turn tail and replace you with a wrapper the second he needs to support BSD.
You will never be efficient. You will wrench out an unoptimized compile every single invocation and tell yourself it's going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the overhead creeping up like a week, ready to crush you under the unbearable delay.
Eventually it'll be too slow to bear — you'll write a Makefile, refactor scripts to call the binary, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your author will find you, heartbroken but relieved that he no longer has to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. He'll patch you in an editor with syntax highlighting, and every git log reader for the rest of eternity will know a Go comment was deleted there. Your bits will rot and go back to entropy, and all that will remain of your legacy is a comment that is unmistakably a hack.
This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no reverting back.
>>
>interpreted retard calling other interpreted retards retarded
>>
>>107718295
what do you mean? any interpreted language is a valid shebang language. Linux defines an executable file as either an ELF OR any file that has a shebang pointing to an ELF (which it will pass the rest of the file to)

python is just as valid of an executable / script / "shebang" as bash or anything else.
>>
>>107718477
an executable text file is and has always been a shell script, long before linux. shebangs emerged after interpreted languages became popular
>>
You can shebang any language.

Oh god I just checked the site for the first time in a couple years and they've had some sort of corporate restructuring. The free ones are now bundled in a separate plugin called "INSTRUMENT" (capitalization is part of the name). These people cannot be taken seriously.
If you can't download it DRM free and use it offline, it isn't worth it. I'd be reluctant to use even the "free" ones since who knows if I'll be able to open the project files after a few years.
