Would you live inside Wine Desktop? Would it be insane to turn Wine into a DE for Linux like Windows 3.1 originally was for DOS? I would use the shit out of this.

I was referring to the use case of minicomputers rather than UNIX itself. My understanding is minicomputers tended to be bought for specific departments that needed them, whereas a mainframe would be bought to run the entire company or campus off for the foreseeable future. So I guess more “single-interest” than single-user.
>>
>>107837394
Guess it’s a use specific thing. I’ve had numerous programs on Windows freak-out or refuse to install anywhere but the C: drive, and that software is generally the kind of software that makes Windows worth keeping around. I recall that even Photoshop gets pissy with other drives, but it might have been fixed since.

Internally windows uses a flat file structure called UNC, and drives are mapped a `\\.\<drive_letter>`, and the older DOS style paths are aliased to them.
>>
>>107838138
ReactOS has the feature of supporting windows device drivers, which WINE does not, and which is a huge benefit for a lot of industrial users of windows, who have device drivers that only work on said 30 year old versions of windows. Think CNC machines, ATMs, various HMIs for industrial controls and so on.
>>
>>107839840
In those cases you would just want to run those on an actual computer running a period correct version of Windows. If you have the kind of money to be buying industrial equipment you are not going to be installing unsupported software on it.
>>
>>107829507
I know it's basically just running all programs in one prefix. But I'm too lazy so never tweaked it more.

how will AI affect the porn industry? Will the lobbies push to have it censored and regulated as a way to keep the content natural or will it become so decentralized that people will make their own stuff killing paid content?

I was having an argument the other day with both zoomers and boomers in my Office saying the BBC is trash and they had the gull to call me un-British, because the BBC is heritage. It's a regular thing with them. They will defend whatever is fucking them in the ass.

Probably still the HP-50g

I've got some fun ones I used in the past. A TI-89TI, a TI-Voyage 200, and an original N-Spire CAS
>>
>>107839581
These gay ass calcs always used to run out of battery for me during exams even and that single line screen is a cunt to use.
Get a TI-30xs, preferably the solar edition. It's way better than casiotrash.
>>
My favorite is an old model TI-89. A buddy of mine gave it me for tutoring him. He picked it up at a pawnshop for cheap, but the professor spotted it and was quite upset about it.
Prior to that, I had been using a TI-85. A different buddy gave it to me since it was too hard for him to use in the age of the TI-84.
It offers complex vector and matrix support, which is quite entertaining.
I have a TI-92 in a box somewhere. I bought it years later for giggles, never really used it. It would be hilarious to bust out that ol' cinderblock in class.

>>107837026
I liked the non-backlit models due to the extreme battery life.
They'd last about a semester (maybe a little less) on one set of batteries.
I can't imagine charging a calculator like a phone. What a pain in the ass.

if AI companies buying a lot of future RAM caused the prices to spike, why wont the fabs just announce that they will also increase their capacity in the future?
this should cancel each other out and lower the cost of RAM right now.

Well most people would struggle to do anything if there were government enforced mass produced sex foxes around.
And the birth rate of normal human beings would plummet while human-fox hybrids would skyrocket.
>>
>>107840435
Wrong, they are a monopoly and are therefore risk averse to the point where they refuse to take the risk to increase the scale of production.
Monopolies in the market make a risk averse, stagnant market and that is what we're beginning to see with semi-conductor producers.

Learn to economics.
>>
>>107840152
I have an idea.
We lie out of our asses, make convincing enough papers and powerpoints for investors to get them to invest in "downlaodable RAM". We sell it as the next big thing, and if we get enough money being thrown our way the price of RAM will eventually go down from people thinking you can just download it.
It's fool proof! Or at least it counts on people being fools to work!
>>
>>107840152
>why wont the fabs just announce that they will also increase their capacity in the future?
Because they won't
Fabs know that the AI memory boom is a short term thing and won't risk overcommitting resources on it
They'll keep producing the same amount of RAM, and don't really care if it goes to consumers or datacenters
>>
>>107840402
Why would the amount of manufacturers change that?
If I had a company like that, i wouldn't. If most of the people I know had one, they wouldn't either. It is just logic, not lack of diversity.

Of course at some point you might have a retard doing exactly that, so I guess you are right to a degree, but I don't think that argument makes sense. It is not the problem here.

not sure if it would work with a controller tho
for the hane, the last three retailers are decent and might have some amazon storefronts. it's recommended that you try things out first with amazon since their return policy is easy to abuse.

+Can hear everything else while listening to podcasts/music
+Lightweight
+Can use to talk to people over the phone hands free
+Long battery life
+Does not require stuffing objects into your ear canal to listen as it relies positioning over the zygomatic bone

-Audio quality isn't as good unlike using headphones or earbuds
-Bass is almost non-existent, is more noticeable when wearing ear plugs

I'm building a visual novel project in Ren'Py and I want some help from an AI editor to get shit done fast. I tried cursor ai which was really good but I quickly ran out of the agent credits or whatever. I realize that I make tons of small requests (e.g. move this UI element and do x with it) which I'm assuming each counts as a credit or token. as this is obviously nothing complex, I'm assuming I could easily use a free shitty model but I want it to do what cursor is doing which is letting me prompt my request and have the AI edit the ren'py file directly in the editor which is a fork of VS code. are there any good options for this? or should I just pay for a pro subscription to cursor ai like a good goy?

I once installed yt-dlp onto my pc and was able to download videos, but that was months ago. I just tried to download a short video from youtube and it told me "yt-dlp is not recognized as an internal or external command" or some shit like that.

I tried updating the program using yt-dlp -U in the cmd prompt but it said the same thing

Can someone point me to a non-outdated tutorial on how to install yt-dlp, tell me why the nigger program told me yt-dlp was not recognized, and tell me how I should go about resolving that?
>>
>>107840544
>yt-dlp is not recognized as an internal or external command
is not yt-dlp telling you that it isn't working, it is command prompt telling you it doesn't know where it is.
You have to go to wherever it is downloaded, and add it to your path. Suppose it is `C:\Downloads`

you press start, run "SystemPropertiesAdvanced.exe"
click environment variables
the top box is for user, so double click 'Path', that will open up another window
now click new, then paste 'C:\Downloads' (without quotations)
click ok, then ok, then ok again
now close and reopen command prompt and it SHOULD work
>>
>>107840544
Pretty sure if it tells you in cmd yt-dlp not recognized is because you didn't add it to PATH
Afaik it's not 'installled' on PC and the exe just exists, cmd looks for yt-dlp.exe when you "yt-dlp 'www.niggers.com'" but doesn't find it since it doesn't know to go to yt-dlp folder that you think about
