It's easy to convert to a userscript, I did a poc easily to work in "full page" videos but I'm too lazy to keep working on it.
The "encrypt tool"'s code fucking sucks, tho. Didn't get it to work.
Would be great to have a userscript version, you could probably upload to atf's git with no problem. I do not trust the original creator, they want to create a report system and created a patreon. This isn't a tool, the idea behind is more important. Do not use the extension.

I've been using AI to modify the tool. It's fairly straightforward just implemented in a way that's really fucking dumb. I got it to work headless which I need because I don't want to be encoding videos with libx264 on my laptop. Maybe I should try using quicksync on here to do it but I feel like I wasted too much time on this already.

I'm a programming novice taking some online courses. The courses have moved off c, but i want to keep what I've learned sharp, so I'm writing an amateur string library for personal use.

I made a linked list based function (properly frees all nodes after the linked list is transcribed into an array) that returns a pointer to a character array for dynamic string input and utilization back in main(). The array in main does need to be freed as well; put a reminder in the function docstring.

Are there any known safety edge cases for a strategy like this? Does it generally make more sense to save all of the work and just initialize arrays with way more space than needed versus allowing for completely dynamic creation? It just annoys me that char arrays need to be fixed size at compile time, and I wanted to see if I could work around that for increased safety and interactivity.

So, like the other guys were saying realloc is best practice. Alright. At least i got a little more practice rudimentary data structures. Still at the point where traversing nodes isn't quite muscle memory.

Thanks all!

Lol. My power went out. In the middle of refactoring this mini project actually. That's the only reason I'm here phone posting.
>>
>>106511481
(nta)
theres several ways you could deal with this problem
you could "over-allocate" (actually over commit), as in allocate a lot of available memory, and play on the fact that said memory isnt "occupied" until you write to it
ofc theres realloc, but one could write a version thereof with mmap directly

but these are advanced methods

at your level, i think you should look into what an arena is.

you create a linked list
and each node's data is an allocated region of memory
then you distribute pointers from said memory regions until you run out.
when you do, you allocate a new node, new region of memory

>>106512019
Thank you. I'll take a look at both. The mmap looks a bit intimidating at first glance, but I'm going to have to get to it eventually.

I definitely need to explore errno.h before going that deep, as it wasn't even covered in any of the materials and I'm defensive coding in the clunkiest possible ways.

These days MS expects you to just buy a new OEM PC that comes with a Windows license bundled into the price, or buying a license from within the MS Store.

I can tell that literally everyone using Rust has a macbook with something like 2TB of storage
Cargo generates a huge target folder and it is just not usable on my machine with 256GB storage, 240GB of which is already full.
Especially for me, because I have many small projects instead of one big project. It is virtually impossible to have a rust project that is less than 1GB when you du -sh dir_name

Meanwhile C, Zig, Odin use dynamic linking so you only install dependency once (and it is also smaller), and Go uses caching so that one dependency is reusable between multiple projects.

It erased my external ssd.
I was having a problem copying a file from one external disk to the other, where one disk just jumped out, and asked GPT for help. We did the usual, smartctl, a few reading and writing checks.
Then all of a sudden it gives me a command that overwrites everything on sde1. Just as a test. I did the command before reading all of it. Even after aborting if after a few seconds, the disk is gone.
Why? How does it even get the idea to that? Its completely absurd to me. Its not even the first time chatGPT deleted something. How does it get the idea that overwriting a disk is even an option for anything?

I inherently don't trust LLMs, so I would have read the entirety of the text if I was doing something as inherently dangerous as messing with SSDs. I would have also made sure I fully understood what the command and the flags used did.

If you find the command suspicious, be up front. Read the manpage of the command, maybe even ask another LLM like Llama "this shit looks suspicious, please explain why wtf is going on will this rape my system".

You can do a whole lot when you abandon your own learned helplessness. A lot of things are actually not even that hard and fall into place when you just bother to try, so if you are someone who, like I've been, limits yourself based on pre-conceived notions and allows the seeming dautingness of a task to stop you from doing it, stop. Just continue forth and if it interests you then you have all you need to do it. If you are like me, then you've stopped yourself from doing things that actually aren't even HARD, just unfamiliar.

Just soemthing to consider. But remember, Mathew 16:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God"

you don't lose the capacity to charge, "only" the capacity to charge quicker. and it's not permanent, you can flash the TB chip with a CH341A and fix the issue. if you're not affected by the issue yet a simple firmware update will make sure you never have that issue at all

fwupd on my distro had it, I installed it from Linux. iirc the only firmware update I needed a Windows install for was the upgraded glass trackpad I put in mine, and that was kind of a pain in the ass to do even on Windows (but it solved another annoying issue I had so I had to)
