this mouse is bad, I had a first gen deathadder and the scroll fell apart 10 years later, got this one and the scroll just disintegrated in mere months, also the general quality is cheap as fuck, pure trash
>>

Cheap Razer mice suck, their higher end ones are good though, optical switches, optical wheels.

Actually yes I do need more.
I have a Deathadder Essential, but i replaced the skates with pure PTFE round dots and added the grip tape on top before i could call it usable. Also the razer software is literal cancer.

Sorry, plebs, my hand is too noble to hold the raw plastic without a grippy surface coating.
>>
>>107643865
I need it to not double-click after 3 years, consistently.

I love the Deathadder, but the relability of it leaves a lot to be desired.

I've used a swapfile for hibernation and it works fine without any issues
>>107644527
I've never had to worry about this, maybe grub or the initramfs generating program handles it automatically?

After two distros in I have come to the conclusion I might want to try not using a distro and instead just setup sections as I need them where I need them
I need more simplicity
>>
>>107649642
You aren't going to get simplicity with the current day linux.
If you want simplicity you need to go back to 1997 and use Irix or something..

>Use X11 with Xmonad Tiling window manager, It just werks, everything werks, no latency or input lag
>High FPS, gaming just werks and I get 20fps+ more than gayland for some reason and its buttery smooth
>Fast with zero bloat, Configure everything to my liking

At this point, I wont even use any desktop environment on linux if it isn't X11. Even XFCE is dead to me because it has wayland support. I will never support anything wayland based on linux.
I'm X11 pilled.

Every application is free to make use of the present extension to prevent tearing.
Talk to your application vendor
A global vsync lock like on Wayland or composited X11 will make latency metrics considerably worse.

Qt is the least "evil" of the three options, abandoning GTK should be top priority.

Linux is often sold as progress, but philosophically it feels like a step backward. The people who shaped the field at its best, Engelbart, Alan Kay, Licklider, were trying to make computers amplify human thought, not turn users into part time system administrators. Engelbart wanted integrated systems that helped people reason, collaborate, and build knowledge. Kay imagined the computer as a living medium, something you could understand, reshape, and learn from. Linux goes in the opposite direction. It inherits the Unix mindset where the system is a miserable little pile of loosely connected tools and the human is expected to glue them together through arcane commands and configuration files. Complexity is not reduced, it is pushed onto the user and normalized as a virtue. Instead of higher level concepts, Linux clings to decades old abstractions like everything being a file, text streams as universal interfaces, and shells as the main way to think. The result is a system no single person can fully understand, held together by conventions, folklore, and cargo cult practices. What makes this worse is the culture that formed around it. A common trait among Linux enthusiasts is a mix of resentment and shallow elitism, where struggling with the system is reframed as proof of intelligence or moral superiority. Difficulty becomes a badge of honor rather than a design failure. Many users overestimate their understanding, mastering a narrow set of commands and rituals while mistaking familiarity for depth. This Dunning–Kruger confidence feeds contempt for ordinary users and for systems that aim to be coherent and humane, as if usability were a flaw rather than the point. Instead of demanding better abstractions, the culture defends rough edges as character building. In that sense, Linux does not just fall short technically. It fosters an attitude that resists the ideals of clarity, empathy, and intellectual humility that the great figures of computing actually stood for.

Why would I subject myself to having my OS send "telemetry" data that I can't inspect to the Mossad, Recall making screenshots of my entire screen every 30 seconds so glowniggers can check on everything I do, several gigabytes of RAM wasted even when the desktop is empty, and using slow-ass ReactNative apps?

The ONLY reason for using Windows is if you're too poor for Apple and too dumb for Linux.

Imagine that through the year, random objects and possessions you own simply vanish, or are repossessed without warning or compensation because the corporation that made it wants to recover money. You have no control over when or what, or if it was important.
That's what happens if you rely on the internet instead of saving your own copies.

Yeah, it's really fun to revisit stuff from a couple years back. It really is a shame that I've never bothered to back anything up prior to 2017 or so.

NitroGen learned to map gameplay pixels to gamepad actions. It currently only works with controller based games.
