C4 42" if still on sale at a sale

720p does not even look that bad
by own admission 720p integerscaled looks better on 1440p than 1080p due to being a perfect upscale

I use QubesOS with detached boot partition on 2 duplicated USB drives with any data that rests on the SSD/HDDs being encrypted with LUKS2. Whonix gateway is proxied through a VPN qube to hide Tor IPs (can't hide communication patterns) without bridges since bridge IPs can be farmed. Sometimes Tor through I2P outproxy or vice-versa or with different anonymizing network overlays. Clients used for browsing are only opened in on-RAM ephemeral qubes with no access to permanent storage. Attack surface is quite minimum since no extra things added like USB mouse and no PV qubes (aside from sys-usb and sys-net) are used for launching HVM qubes with qemu stub domains unless very necessary and every other qube on the system gets shut down first to keep information leakage minimum. A veracrypt volume with hidden storage on a permanent qube for data storage and plausible deniability.

>TLDR on what's the current FS meta in linux?
>Must pool drives, must stripe, mirror & both, must at least somehow support encryption without encrypting the entire pool.
TL;DR: ZFS striped pool synced locally (striped+mirrored) or over the local area network (no mirror pool).

I can somewhat answer to all of your points, except encryption. If I get hit by a bus, my stuff isn't encrypted, so there's a chance someone will enjoy or keep storing my data. Weird situation if that happened, but whatever.

If I had more than 2000 USD to burn:
- computer 1: ZFS striped pool of two ~28-TB HDDs (internal or external) = ~50-TB logical volume
- computer 2: ZFS striped pool of two ~28-TB HDDs (internal or external) = ~50-TB logical volume
- computer 1 and computer 2 are both on the LAN. One is a network mount via sshfs (or something which does what sshfs does).
- MUST be done everyday or all the time: use syncthing or rsync (maybe borg) to keep them in sync. "You can absolutely configure Syncthing to run as a system daemon." = said in this post: >>107623938 . Probably use Syncthing and not rsync; there may be some NAS software for this too.
- PROBLEM: replacement cost is 1000 USD if one of the zpools fails. ZFS mirror pool replacement cost is only like 500 USD if one fails (20 something TB + 20 something TB = 20 something TB mirrored).

Do you use the rmdir command? I've used it multiple times this month. Info:
https://everything.explained.today/Rmdir/

I think it's helpful for preventing accidental mass deletions. It only removes empty folders. Say you have an empty folder at "/mnt/drive1/images/im in the screenshot epic" and you want to delete it. If you somehow ran "rm -r /mnt/drive1/images /im in\ the\ screenshot\ epic", not meaning to put a space after "images", then rm will delete all of you images. If you ran that same command with rmdir instead then it wouldn't delete it, seeing it's not an empty directory. The correct command would be "rmdir /mnt/drive1/images/im in\ the\ screenshot\ epic"

In short, use "rmdir" to remove an empty folder, not "rm -r".

>>

kek okay. OLED will lose against mini-led because of price. It's inevitable. Matte always wins in the end. Nobody gives a shit about your true blacks or rich colors when you need to live in a cave to look good. Much less when you need to do actual work instead of watching glowing honey and be amazed by it for some weird reason.

>>Burn in (that even with prevention is inevitable 2-3 years down the road)
MiniLED has burn-in too.
All LEDs degrade with use, which is how OLED burn-in works.
>>
>>107630832
This so much, people waiting for microled are in for a massive disappointment.
LED light bulbs don't have a 30,000 hour rating for nothing you know? They eventually lose brightness the more you use it, sounds like the exact same problem we have with OLED.

If you want your display to last forever while having a decent image, IPS is your only option.

Yacht parties, booze, girls. A-list AI researcher gathering at NeurIPS gives us plebs a glimpse of the super secretive world of A(G)I.

Partygoers were mostly enthusiastic. The sentiment among these experts is that 2025 marks a transition from simple generative chatbots to Agentic AI, autonomous systems capable of solving multi-step problems and performing PhD-level tasks in specialized fields like chemistry and mathematics.

There was of course some pessimism in the crowd...

The "P(Doom)" Number was a common question among attendees. ie. "What’s your number?" referring to their personal estimate of the probability that AI will lead to a human catastrophe.
Researchers debated whether current methods like scaling up transformers are enough for tomorrow's breakthroughs, or if "continual learning" and "reinforcement learning" (RL) are the necessary next steps.
Lastly there's a clear divide between the "open" spirit of academic research and the increasingly secretive nature of the private labs that now dominate the field.

The world's fate was sealed when people saw the Snowden leaks and learned about PRISM and all the illegal surveillance, and were like "hurr durr who cares, I have nothing to hide" as they continued uploading their lives on social media and going about their days. Once they were able to learn every detail of their cattle's lives they were able to start corralling and controlling them easier. The dominoes are being put into place for neo-feudalism.
And people deserve it. This is the path they chose: convenience over freedom. Safety over liberty. Now you get to enjoy neo-feudalism!

Good to know
If I want high quality prints, what kind of price range should I look at? Does toner quality matter or is it mostly just compatbility in cartridges(or however they come?) and all the same stuff?

I'd like to print some photographic quality stuff (greyscale) if possible without it costing too much but if the price difference is significant I can just do the greyscale stuff at a store instead since I don't need much. Just want to print some guides and want simple product images to go along with the text.

toner quality doesn't matter, toner is just a powder of microplastics that the laser melts on to your paper

but the printer needs high dpi for photo quality

Depends if you're doing it "from scratch" or not.
Like gtk or qt _could_ be twisted to do that, but you'll have to poke around at the lower level wayland interfaces, because xdg_toplevel isn't really the right type of surface for that.

If you're doing it yourself, all you truly need is libwayland-client and something capable of drawing into some shared memory, e.g. Cairo + freetype2.
