The fact you haven't mentioned a single thing about what you intend to use the system for makes it very clear that your "learning" has no goal other than autistic mental masturbation, so just do whatever you want. You'll be "learning" trains and/or wind turbines next.

I'm curious if there's any software or Linux program which can understand and get real data out of a non-finalized DVD or CD. I don't have to do this now, just wondering. Maybe some forensics software can do this.>>107671464I did that before, except using X11 on both computers.
>>107671680Care to share it?
Switching to Linux for gaming seems to be the popular thing these days and Steam is the choice for it. Whereas on Windows using GOG I can actually own my game and keep a copy of it, I'm not leasing it if the platform decides to just take shit back. Windows has better software support and freedom.
>>107671519gog games tend to have less issues in wine as it's often the copy protection which gets in the way
>>107668510we just need standalone proton
>>107668510I pirate everything anyways.
there are several launchers on Linux that will run GOG games with proton meanwhile windows core features are broken
>>107668510>>107668814You cannot modify, share or sell games because of the law, because of copyright.A "copy" of a digital product, even if DRM-free, in the eyes of the law is the same thing as intellectual property. The digital product's author(s) must renounce any perk copyright gives to them if they want to let their customers modify, share and sell copies.Under copyright you are not allowed to sell even physical copies of a digital product, but people do that anyway because it's hard to track. If you do that you are the same as an unauthorised reseller, they can sue you and you'll lose the case 100 %.

I’ve been running Linux Mint for over four years and was happy with it until the recent drama, especially the AI security scan fiasco. It really shook my trust in the maintainers.I started looking for alternatives, but after testing hundreds of distros, none of them met my expectations for stability and reliability. I began to accept that my system would just break from time to time until I found a thread recommending Windows Seven as a rock-solid alternative. After researching, it turns out this version is still surprisingly usable. It’s stable, reliable, and with extended updates plus a good firewall, security isn’t a major issue.Has anyone else tried this? How did it go for you? Personally, I haven’t run into a single problem so far.
>>107671281>8.1 was terrible.besides the UI changes, I dont see why som many people bitches abut it. the fact that this industry hasn't settled on a standard protocol by now is suspicious. they could all talk to each other if they agreed on e2e algoeithm and a template for media and text.
Depends on the purpose. Meta can easily push their standard if they cooperate with other big players like Viber. Don’t expect that from Telegram or Signal though.

Anyone run Solaris with REAL ZFS on their NAS?
Anyone one running sunshine/moonlight server?I have this weird problem.I have sunshine server running on my main machine (installed from the github repo) and it's on wayland.I have moonlight client installed from flatpak on another machine and it's running on X11.I can connect to the server, but I just get black screen, I tried using different client so I use moonlight on my android phone and it could connect just fine.So what's the problem? I can't see any error messages in the logs to even start solving it.The problem started after the latest kernel and mesa update.Could it be hardware related?
>>107669484ECC ram isn't required for ZFS to maintain it's integrity, blocks are checksummed in memory as well as on the disk. It just helps prevent software instability due to failing ram or sunspots etc. If your ram is so bad its flipping bits, the data you are trying to write would be polluted before it gets written.Scrubbing is intensive as it has to re-checksum every block, so if a drive is failing it could increase the damage on that disk. Its gonna fail the pool again if this starts happening? I would say the pools are not scrambled, unless you have been replacing drives (more than the max fail count) and running the zfs commands to do that, before its rebuild the volumes.ZFS drives get tagged with the pool info, so you can put the drives back in any position and it should figure out where they go. You need to figure out whats wrong with the hardware, get that sorted, then you can get the pools running again. You could even put them in a different computer and import the pools on that.ZFS is pretty good with all this stuff.
A few of you may have discovered today that thumbnails suddenly stopped loading in Firefox. I did.Checking the browser console, I found errors for each thumbnail in the catalog which said "A resource is blocked by OpaqueResponseBlocking, please check browser console for details."After disabling browser.opaqueResponseBlocking in about:config, those error messages turned into 403's and the images would still not load.I did a desuarchive search for Firefox and found a post in /trash/ saying "I figured it out. 4chan is now asking for referrers when requesting images from 4cdn... TL:DR; 4chan wants to know where you were before loading an image." along with a screenshot of all about:config settings with the word "referer" in them. With the help of that screenshot, I pinpointed the issue to network.http.referer.XOriginPolicy in about:config, which I had set to 2 for whatever reason, I don't know. Setting it to 0 fixed the problem. Most of you on Firefox probably won't experience this since 0 is the default setting. So, for those of you also experiencing this issue, there's the fix, and now the fix is on desuarchive for others to find.Feel free to discuss the technological/privacy ramifications of this change by 4chan, or if the /trash/ poster's analysis is correct.
