A few of you may have discovered today that thumbnails suddenly stopped loading in Firefox. I did.
Checking the browser console, I found errors for each thumbnail in the catalog which said "A resource is blocked by OpaqueResponseBlocking, please check browser console for details."
After disabling browser.opaqueResponseBlocking in about:config, those error messages turned into 403's and the images would still not load.
I did a desuarchive search for Firefox and found a post in /trash/ saying "I figured it out. 4chan is now asking for referrers when requesting images from 4cdn... TL:DR; 4chan wants to know where you were before loading an image." along with a screenshot of all about:config settings with the word "referer" in them.
With the help of that screenshot, I pinpointed the issue to network.http.referer.XOriginPolicy in about:config, which I had set to 2 for whatever reason, I don't know. Setting it to 0 fixed the problem.
Most of you on Firefox probably won't experience this since 0 is the default setting.
So, for those of you also experiencing this issue, there's the fix, and now the fix is on desuarchive for others to find.
Feel free to discuss the technological/privacy ramifications of this change by 4chan, or if the /trash/ poster's analysis is correct.

>Don't just let any faggot know where you're coming from, install referrer spoofer addon
Modern browsers use the strict-origin-when-cross-origin referrer policy by default, and common extensions like uBlock Origin already can and do override Referrer-Policy header values on network responses to tear out any more privileged value.

This means only the origin (i.e. domain/hostname) will be sent, not the resource you were actually looking at.
If that's not good enough for you, you can override to no-referrer by default and white-list certain domains that need it to allow for strict-origin-when-cross-origin.

You don't need separate additional extensions.
>>
>>107674247
>can detect all of the websites you were visited before
Referrer header only contains the one previous website you came from. It cannot see the whole chain.
There is intentionally no browser API that allows for this.
>>
Maybe one of you can help me fix my shit
I'm on Firefox and the "please verify that you're human" cloudflare check doesn't work on 4chan specifically (and not in incognito either). I press verify and it keeps looping and nothing happens.
I can visit other sites just fine.
I've had this issue a week ago >>107611158 and >>107612219 and since then I've just been posting normally because it fixed itself out of nowhere. if this gonna keep happening I'd like an actual way to fix it
>>
>>107691419
Whitelisting is clearly necessary. How do you use that in uBlockOrigin?

I am going to start my first ever WFH position with my first work laptop and would like to know how you guys use it at home.
Do you connect it to your main PC's monitor(s), keyboard, etc. using a dock/KVM switch, or have a dedicated setup or just rawdog it by simply using the laptop itself?

just use decent speakers if you want to listen to podcasts/games/movies w/e.
good used speakers are free-$100 used because the shear volume of boomers getting rid of them doesn't match how many people want them. Anything super high end is still $1k+ but good quality ones are still absurdly cheap
get a decent receiver/amp and basically any speaker from mirage, paradigm, energy, athena(less so), klispch, roland, mission etc. It's sort of country based so you'll have to see whats around in your country, anyways loads are from golden years of canadian speaker manufacturing or the uk
having a decent set of speakers for games or movies is beyond kino anon i highly recommend it.

Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.

Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal

>windows is better for cad software and gaming only
- Backwards compatibility
- Standardized (most the people in world use it)
- The platform actual developers target not ("hackers")
Mac has less reasons to use it.
- Ecosystem
- Music production and maybe adobe products run better on it

>use independent installer
>installer's servers go down
>can't install the software

Meanwhile
>user package manager
>one arch mirror goes down
>use one of the several hundred other mirrors embedded into your system
>free access to every package

And you also have the issue of installers being written differently by everyone who makes one.
Also, in a package manager no one, not even the mirrors or network themselves can tamper with the files. With an installer, some company could serve you any files they want and you would be none the wiser. At least with a package manager every mirror will have an archive of the files a developer shipped for a particular version. There are other checks run before it can even get in, too.

You can see .dmg files as a remnant of how floppy disks worked. Back in the day you'd mount a floppy disk and either run the software from it, or drag it to your machine and then unmount it.
The installers are entirely different, usually they require some extra configurations being set system wide or a specific driver to be added, if you use an installer you will not have to drag anything.

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine.

Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

Needing some advice on music players for Linux. Running Antergos. Installed a few, and so far the only viable option is Audacious, but it is missing some creature comforts that I got with foobar. Most importantly, I want one that will support some sort of convolver, since I have impulse waveforms for all of my cans. I am using a Schiit stack to play everything. Anyone have any recommended players?

is there any player that sorts by genre > band > album?
I spent years sorting all my music on windows, every player I tried on linux only sorts by band or band and album
I can't remember the name of a million different bands and albums, it's easier to just find them by genre, but when you do sort by genre it just throws them all together, when I want to listing to a whole album

replaygain is good if you're listening to playlists or poorly mastered songs where the volume between each track is going to jump around a lot. it's just a metadata tag that tells your player to turn up the voluem a specific amount so you don't have to do any reencoding.
>rsgain
I use it, it works great and is super fast with multithreading
