Why is there no program where me and my friend have the same program installed and I type in his IP address and can send infinite amount of files to him directly and encrypted?

Why does everything need to be uploaded to some shit server first? Is there no open protocol like that? No I'm not talking about bittorrent.

do SSD's suck? should people go back to HDDs?

My health is getting low. Where the heals at?
>>
>>106501674
I don't know, I boughted buyed a new nvme year ago and was using W10. Its health rapidly declined every single month.
Now I changed to W11 (same fixed swap size etc, partitions are the same) it has stayed at the same 90% for months. Is still read and write about the same amount as always.

Not sure if crystal disk info can actually be trusted.
>>
>>106501674

>>
>>106501674
No, all SSDs do not suck.
Cheap SSDs that lack DRAM and rely on SLC caching while having QLC NAND have advertised short TBW lives. It is all on the box. Do your research and don’t buy the cheapest SSDs. Or any SSD with QLC NAND without DRAM (VolitileWroteCache)
>>
>>106501674
That’s actually pretty good for a QLC NAND SSD. Samsung FTW.
Micron or anything cheaper would already be dead.

Firefox planning to drop 32-bit support. This is huge, considering that Firefox supported non SSE3 systems for a very long time and that many cheap netbooks from around 2008-2012 were 32-bit only. Compare this with the fact that Mozilla recently extended Windows 7 to 2026, and we find that Mozilla finds it difficult to actually drop support due to the "long tail" effect of many legacy users. It still has a minority of Firefox 78 users on old macs for example.

https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2025/09/05/firefox-32-bit-linux-support-to-end-in-2026/

It looks like 32-bit computers may be locked out of much of the internet by late 2026, as outdated browsers usually fail captchas.

We are 3 months til 2026.
Who the fuck is using 32bits for web browsing?
As a server? Sure. But a full desktop with a browser?
>>
>>106499998
Because Windows and Mac hasn't been supporting 32 bits in forever so his nostalgia brain hasn't moved on.
>>
>>106500697
Firefox is still supporting 32-bit Windows
>>
>>106500748
The last Windows with 32 bits was Windows 10 2004. That's almost 4 years now.
>>
>>106501602
And yet Firefox is still supporting it.

> be me, Nepali expat
> wake up Sept 4, apps gone: FB, IG, WhatsApp, YT, X, Reddit, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest, Signal, Clubhouse, Rumble +14 more
Actual scoop:
- Supreme Court ordered social platforms to register locally by Aug 28 or face shutdown
- 26 platforms blacked out; only TikTok & Viber complied
Gov’t stance on VPNs:
- Official decree labels VPNs “unregistered tunnels” and “cyberthreats”
- State media warns: using VPN is unsafe, illegal, may lead to fines or arrest
Why it matters:
1. Freedom of speech wiped out for 30M Nepalis
2. Creators & small businesses lose income overnight
3. People forced to VPN risk legal trouble on top of surveillance

so whats the best option for fast neighbor search in 3d? Octree? Sparse hierarchical grids? Some kind of graph structure? I have spend a week now reading that shit up still have no fucking idea also reading CS academia papers makes my head hurt.
>>

>>
>>106501638
That depends on how your objects are laid out
Octree is the best general case, but if you have objects that are of regular size or spacing then grids start to become more efficient
