I just want a big green "aur" package name at the top, above all the code shit
I don't care about files
I don't care about commits
I don't care about branches
I don't care about """build instructions"""
just give me the pkgbuild file, that's all I want
every project should have an auto-generated -bin file made on the github cloud
and any public project that does not provide that or does not compile to arch would get banned
fuck off with that "HERE IS THE EXE :^)"
literally nobody cares about that platform
if it's not on arch it shouldn't exist on github

My best friend is unironically filtered by github. It's fucking hilarious. Every time he needs something and I link him to the releases page of a github repository he decides he doesn't want it anymore. This has happened at least 10 times. I'm almost certain it's because he doesn't know how to download it. I don't want to believe he's too stupid to click on the .exe asset on the page but I'm afraid thats how it is. If it doesn't say DOWNLOAD with a big green button some people just can't do it. This is why those obviously fake download button ads are still a thing because people still click that shit I'm sure of it.

I have a "display less" samsung m31, its unrooted, not modified in any way, has the samsung one ui version of android, im wondering if i can use it, again somehow. as like a server

this phone was an old phone of mine, it was my personal, phone i used, before i dropped it once, and the adhesive just gave up?! like it just, detached the screen. off the phone, the tension created suddenly on the display cable, ripped it from the screen, making the perfectly fine screen useless. i was wondering if i could make this phone a server? somehow, without being able to unlock it, i do not care about the data in it anymore, nor the memories i had with it, i have accepted that it was and is, a lost cause. just asking if i could have it back somehow, for a different purpose. i appreciate the upcoming debate.. let the chatting begin (idk why i found that funny)
>>
no you can't, the prerequisite of turning something into a server is access.
you got no screen to enable adb, accept adb etc to install apps/executes commands remotely, how do you supposed to run something on it?
try >>>/sqt/ first next time

/hsg/ is about learning and expanding your horizons. Know all about NAS? Learn virtualization. Spun up some VMs? Learn about networking by standing up a OPNsense/PFsense box and configuring some VLANs. There's always more to learn and chances to grow. Think you’re god-tier already? Setup OpenStack and report back.

>What software should I run?
Install Gentoo. Or whatever flavor of *nix is best for the job or most comfy for you. Jellyfin/Emby/Plex to replace Netflix, Nextcloud to replace Googlel, Ampache/Navidrome to replace Spotify, the list goes on. Look at the awesome self-hosted list and ask.

>Why should I have a home server?
De-botnet your life. Learn something new. Serving applications to yourself, your family, and your frens feels good. Put your tech skills to good use for yourself and those close to you. Store their data with proper availability redundancy and backups and serve it back to them with a /comfy/ easy to use interface.

>looking for entry job as a dev
had a job interview on thursday at a company that builds industrial fans and they're looking for a dev that helps the other single dev guy to port their custom inventory management system (written with VB6) to C#.
They gave me the solution/source code of their current C# progress, plus some test sql files and asked me to write a customizable BOM window (I'll get paid for this work).
and if they're happy with it, I get the job. sounds fine by me.

Until
>current dev still writes his code with VB6 and lets VS convert it to C# code
>saves both versions
>no git for in-development software
>want to modernize their system, because VB isn't supported anymore
>uses .NET 4.7.2, because "some of their end user PCs don't support newer frameworks"
>no proper structure within the project
>solution contains two projects:
>some classes are in the billOfMaterials project

whoa
that's really offensive
to distort our country's name like that
how can you leave out the other vibrant constituent communities? it's
>The United Kingdom of Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Syria, Nigeria and Romania
to you, chud. Thanks.

But seriously, I need a new phone quick, it's cheap. I can live with the drawbacks
- no 5G (4G coverage is plentiful and isn't going anywhere for the realistic lifetime of this phone)
- no 3.5mm (I rarely use it, while I use bluetooth day-to-day)
- chink UI (well I'm coming off stock Android (Nokia/HMD) which has been nothing but a buggy disaster. Plus the interface is getting worse, more clicks to accomplish the same tasks. I might as well give a different UI a chance. My mum has a Redmi and it has given her no problem in 3 years.
The pros seem like a nice bonus
- 7000mah battery
- IP64 (I use phone in kitchen and bathroom, it often gets some light splashes on it)

>Will randomly serve you videos for completely different languages thanks to the shitty auto-dub feature
>Recommendations across the entire website are tuned to favor recent videos, burying anything older than a year

>Singlehandedly popularized society ruining trends like vertical video, content farms, essay slop, clickbait thumbnails and more
>Doesn't even let you see general Trending videos anymore? For some fucking reason???

you still need to be around people to have them say "thats a dumb idea" and then you need the confidence to say "no its not, youre dumb" and the discipline to stick by the idea for 2 more weeks.
and then the humbleness to say "okay... this idea WAS dumb, ill do something else"
etc. these are traits of emotional intelligence, right? so thats my point im trying to bring up.

kinda interesting that learning skills and creating useful things is no longer even considered as an option and instead people just focus on faking their credentials and finding new ways to scam money out of the broken economy (and boomers mainly). but i guess it's all good since we can just print more money am i right fellas

you get what you incentivize. people can see where the rewards go. they aren't going to people learning skills and creating useful things. maybe elsewhere.
>>
>>106503777
yeah this is what copious money printing, recession-aversion and asset inflation has led to. instead of letting free market dictate things and let companies be the exact size that they should be with the needs of the economy in mind, governments have kept shoving money into them so that they would grow beyond what makes sense and stay solvent. when the economy is based on massive corporate entities trading little pieces of themselves for things, it's very hard to make money by any rational means and instead the best way is to try to get some of that corpo pie for yourself, some way or another.

if you encrypt something with your own private key it can only be decrypted with your public key. so if you send something that decrypts properly with your public key, it can be surmised that you have access to both keys and if that private key is safeguarded properly that it's genuinely from you. (ofc if your key is leaked or shared or w/e this fails and the solution is "generate new keys and make a public statement not to trust your old one)
