>what's your AP? that would help a little.
A bunch of Eero Pro 6's from my old ISP. I connected to my new ISPs access point when they installed it for testing and speeds were similarly slow. This was the first test I ran after they installed it. I'm thinking this is just an Android 16 issue. All other WiFi devices are fine.
>>
>>107118160
You can try testing a few inches from the AP, but it seems like it may be the phone itself or software like you suspect. I've used the eero app and it really doesn't give much detail about the wifi connection on a device level.
>>
Is there any way to upgrade my Windows 10 Pro pc with a Enterprise Key? I've got a 6700k that Windows 11 doesn't support. Would doing the Massgrave command in Powershell let me choose to switch to Enterprise?
>>
>>107118230
No. Best to do a clean install.
Backup all your shit, install Win10 Enterprise, copy back your files.

Was there anything more disastrous than the idea that tech literacy would just keep improving forever because kids were becoming "digital natives?" Instead Gen Z have no idea how to use computers for actual work, kids only use phones and tablets which tell you nothing about how computers work. The interns at the engineering company I work for are worse than boomers are at doing anything more complicated than opening a pdf. The entire concept of a digital native doesn't even make sense, most Gen Xers and Millennials who are good at computers learned about them later in life, at most they had a family computer that they tinkered around with as kids. That's completely different than 2 year olds scrolling on an iPad all day.
>>

>most Gen Xers and Millennials who are good at computers learned about them later in life, at most they had a family computer that they tinkered around with as kids.
That's me as Gen Z (1998). I only recently started to actually bother to learn about programming despite being around computers forever. Anyway, what's a computer?

>Was there anything more disastrous than the idea that tech literacy would just keep improving forever because kids were becoming "digital natives?"
Letting tech corporations socially engineer the public. This is effectively what they have done with social media and phone apps, and they're doing it again with AI.

Congratulations OP, you managed to get me to sign up for Proton's Black Friday deal. But sadly if Proton ever succeeded and became popular and profitable, it would get taken over by the same Jews and Indian Hindu rape rats who destroyed our other tech companies, and suffer the safe fate. If you still get random power offs then it's a voltage regulation problem

>Have you tried removing the battery and using only the AC adapter?
I could try that actually. I'll try it tomorrow since it's very late for me to do so now, and I'll fuck something up in the process like I did with my data, I'd rather do it in the day when I am fully focused.
>If you still get random power offs then it's a voltage regulation problem
If that's the case, how do I fix that? If it's even possible.
>Just how fucked up is your laptop?
Pretty badly. Happened due to plastic melting around the laptop hinges when I was running a high-powered game. It's insane that gaming laptops are built with plastic instead of a material that can actually deal with high temperatures. But I learned that the hard way, that was years ago.
I am considering just outright taking screen off and converting it into a halftop somehow. That might also fix it not appearing on the BIOS but I don't know how effective that is. But I'll have to try it tomorrow along with your idea. Fingers crossed it goes well.
>>
>>107118312
>plastic melting around the laptop hinges when I was running a high-powered game
Excessive heat damages electronics.
Your motherboard was literally cooked.
Desktop PC are better for gaming since the literally have breathing room to not get so hot.
>>
>>107118334
That's also why gaming laptops have those addons where you can literally just connect a giant flat fan system to the bottom of it to cool it down.
>>
>>107118334
This happened all the way back in 2019, since then I installed an external fan setup, so the laptop has since been regularly getting cooled down, so I doubt it was motherboard damage since so much time has passed, but I don't doubt it probably damaged the D: Drive which did end up failing around a year later. Either way, I am lucky the motherboard wasn't significantly damaged if it even was.
The problems with the laptop randomly shutting off started this year in 2025 and I had long since stopped playing anything intense.
If it is the battery/voltage, I have a theory why. the electrical system in this apartment is a mess, and there were frequent blackouts, and I believe the blackouts may have caused a short-circuit or some fuckup in the battery/voltage. I might be wrong though, that's just an idea I had, because the problems started after the blackouts.
>Desktop PC are better for gaming since the literally have breathing room to not get so hot.
Agreed, but I unfortunately travel a lot, so I hadn't had the right moment to actually build myself a Desktop PC (and I was a LOT more tech illiterate in 2018 too, and was a console player before that and only used a Mac before that, so I was a lot more foolish than I am now). That'll change at some point probably, but that's for the future.

That's normal, scripting languages are bad for things like math because everything is an object, they're relatively better for business logic where you're just calling a few functions
>>
>>107118057
I use Lua, not LuaJit. Lua is never a bottleneck for me. In general anything computationally expensive gets done in C++ and it takes no time at all. But I'm using the Lua C api directly from C++, not sol3 or anything like that. I'm willing to bet you're doing something wrong, how are you marshaling data back and forth? What is your algorithm actually doing? Also this is a nitpick but when you profile the amount of time a routine takes in microseconds is more useful than using the FPS as a performance indicator
>>
>>107118120
Good point on the microseconds thing.
I was using Rust (yeah yeah) and the mlua crate. I implemented the IntoLua and FromLua traits for a Vector3 type to marshal it from rust struct<-> lua table. I would then call the Lua function with the table and a delta time.
In both the native rust and the Lua, the "algorithm" was basically just

inVector += scale(inVector, Vec3(5,10,20)) * dt;

The semantics were slightly different between the two but that was the gist of it. Even when I was just doing

inVector.(x,y,z)+= 10 * dt

The performance was trash in Lua. I might play with it again and see if I can't figure out what I did wrong. Or maybe I'll try it again in C and see if the rust bindings just suck.

I got proper IBL working. Forgive the apparent exposure, windows does not like HDR screenshots and I had to lower the paper white just to get a decent image. There’s no active lights in this scene other than the IBL. I got an hdr from poly haven and processed it through cmftstudio to get the irradiance and radiance maps. Although the amount of steps and fiddling is not ideal and the resulting cubemap is flipped on the x axis, I’ll probably end up doing the asset processing myself sooner than later. There’s still a lot of tuning and cleanup to do.

First things first, range ban India and pissrael. Then if you detect any Hindi or Hebrew being sent, immediately ban the acccount. Implement some kind of proof of work for the initial sign up that takes 15 minutes to complete (like a lot of captchas in a row). You'll be able to reduce a lot of the bad actors. Sadly with 600 million Indian Hindu shitskins on the internet (3 times as many as Americans), we will face the destruction of every part of civilization that is based on high trust, good will, and selflessness.

I use a container as an implementation of a canonical working dev environment. The build must always work in the container. On my dev machine I manage my own environment and rely on CI to ensure I didn't fuck up and add a dependency that wasn't also updated to the canonical dev environment.
