BONUS: Netflix adds a fake film grain filter not present in the video to hide how shitty and starved the original streams fucking look Congrats AV1 clowns you played yourselvesThe future you all wanted lololololololololol
>>108503545>Congrats AV1 clowns you played yourselves>The future you all wantedthe codec retards knew exactly what they were doing the whole time you retardall of these pushes are from government spy agencies and copyright companies. need more bandwidth for metadata snoops and IP owners believe people should pay the cost to film a movie just to watch it at film qualityww3 is gonna solve a lot of problems
>>108503655the original file looked like that you stupid retard.
>>108503545It's an optional feature, they don't shove it down your throat. That being said, they don't allow enough control over the denoise and grains used to make it look good while saving bandwidth in my opinion to not look like it's trash and I really doubt even Netflix is doing much other than just flipping the switch on and going with default settings. It's fine if it is optional, and yeah, you aren't guaranteed original quality by Netflix for their service no matter how much you pay, their priority is just to serve you video at good enough quality for you to not complain. They will drive off hardcore folks but I doubt that will stop them from implementing it.

I'm OOTL since I don't keep up with crapple's products, but why did they start putting out cheap products? First they made a $600 Mac Mini a few years ago, and now there's a MacBook that runs off an iPhone processor for about the same price. Apple worked so hard to establish themselves as a luxury fashion brand so that they can sell overpriced crap, why are they suddenly pivoting to pandering to people that aren't pretending to look rich?
>>108505185It's a move into the education sector where Chromebooks are totally dominant.Get them hooked on Apfel products at school and you will raise a generation of macfags. Worth subsiding the cost now to get them in your walled garden for life.
>>108507986apple has always been big in education. remember all those people discussing the education discount on the neo for $100 off? remember the eMac? chromebooks were a setback, but google has done an awful job developing the OS and corralling hardware manufacturers.
The average consumer browses facebook, streams slops and pays their bills from their computer. A phone chip is more than capable of doing that. Coming out with an entry level device allows them to sell their devices to third worlders and poor people who want in on the Apple brand. The market of first world consumers is maybe a billion people. There's 8 billion people on earth.
>>108505185Money.With hardware prices being extremely unstable nowadays, a lot of PC producers started ignoring the low-budget niche and focused more on corporate and lol AI tech. Apple just decided to use this opportunity to seize that part of the market and bind new consumers to their ecosystem.
>>108507730>because thirdies would love the opportunity to get an Apple thing for cheapThirdies can't afford a new PC, much less a $600 MacBook. If you think a $600 MacBook is an evil to the brand then consider it a necessary evil.Price points ultimately matter for education and parents because kids can't be trusted with $1k+ devices.ChromeOS and Macbooks face the same problem of kids getting imprinted on Windows and it starts at school more often than not. This helps Apple build the brand by introducing MacBooks earlier

whens the movie music due?i'll have a lot of time so i might make like 12 tracks
i thought this film score would be hard but its been fairly painless so far, just like mapping out cool ideas and then linking them together with ambient noises and sfx and throwing some percussion here or there. i got about 2 minutes so far. i decided on c major at least to start off with and i want to incorporate some guitars but not sure how much.
fucking arturia bruh
Is it a controversial opinion on /g/ to say that I preferred when TVs didn't have their own OS frontend?I'm not saying linear TV didn't have it's problems but at least it always felt like it did what I wanted, not what it thought I wanted. The golden middle-ground was when you connected a streaming stick to a HDMI port on your dumb-TV.
>>108506030I just have a dumb simple washing machine, plugged it into a smart plug with power monitoring and stuck a door sensor on it, connected those to home assistant and created an automation to send me a notification every 10 minutes when it's ready until the door is opened. No internet connection or complex electronics that will break and stop the machine from working. Just local zigbee network and full control for me to do whatever I want.
>>108505954Nothing wrong with that, but as TVs got more advanced and powerful, why not slap an OS in there? It makes it more understandable for normies.
>>108505954It was so much better in the past. Samsung is the worst offender, trying to find the input menu when you accidentally hit a button on the TV remote, and it brought you to the homepage of ads and diversity, is the worst user experience in the world
Do these shitty TVs still come with remote controls? Or do the manufacturers save money by making you download a phone app to turn your TV on?
>>108505954I left the TV scene when they stopped making dumb screens. Been using projectors since. I have a 4K Epson EH-TW7000 now, great budget projector (cost around €1100) connected to my HTPC.

do people like authenticator apps?i broke my phone and got locked out of my bank, steam, post office and other things.everysingle one needed an authenticator or some app i didn't have access to anymore.i had to take out my sim and plug it into another phone to end up using the sms verification stuff, if i didn't have another phone, i'd be screwed.do people enjoy this? like are jobs made solely for this so they won't go away?I'm honestly so lost why things need to be so complex now, where just not having a single device causes so many issues
It should answer your question when you need to download a new authenticator app for each service. They’re bullshit.
>>108507866Google Authenticator backs up to to your Google account nowadays. Aegis has a back up feature too that it will nag you about if you haven't backed up your data. You have to be a complete retard to have lost your auth app access.

No. They're still better than fucking email 2fa because if you lose your email address, you are locked out for life. You can't back up a gmail address, but you can back up your authenticator keys. Not with google authenticator though, I use aegis.
